This was a pretty good story with a lot going on in a
relatively short time span. You
definitely want to pay attention to what’s happening, and who is who.
The story starts off with an eerie scene. There is a choice to be made, one person’s
life over another’s.
Then we jump right to another place and we watch Lily
hunting. Lily is a vampire, but she
doesn’t drink people, she is strictly on what the Cullen’s would call the
vegetarian diet – animals only. Lily is
one of the last three remaining vampires on Earth.
Then we jump back in time just a smidge more, and learn how
everything leads up to this point. Lily
and Ian, dating and in love. The only
problem is that Ian is a human, and he doesn’t know that she isn’t. This causes her to make a drastic decision.
I found this book to be very enjoyable overall. It had a fast pace and was well written. Even though there are many characters and it
takes place over several time periods with flashbacks and memories, I never
once was confused about where or what was happening. The characters were intriguing and
charismatic.
There were a lot of different aspects to this book. You are dealing with a wide assortment of
paranormal beings. There is everything
from vampires, angels and demons to shadow walkers and more. There are serial killers and just regular
oxygen breathing, blood flowing human beings.
If I had any complaint at all, it would only be how easily everything
was accepted when the truth about the paranormal aspect comes out. Everybody in this book seemingly takes
everything in stride. I can’t say if
that is how I would picture it happening, but I’ve not had anyone come out to
me with their paranormal side….yet.
I almost dare say this book is more about Lily’s best friend
Becca more than Lily herself. There are
several plot lines swirling around together.
They were all very interesting, and I think there will be a lot of
questions that get answered in the next book, Revisited, due out this summer.
