Synopsis
Sophia Parsons’ family has skeletons, but they aren’t in their graves...
Solving the mystery of an ancestor’s hanging might silence the clashing whispers in Sophia's mind, but the cult in her town and the supernaturals who secretly reside there are determined to silence her first.
As Sophia unknowingly crosses the line into an elemental world full of vampire-like creatures, shapeshifters, and supernatural grim reapers, she meets Charles, a man who becomes both lover and ally.
But can she trust him?
It’s not until someone nearly kills Sophia that she realizes the only way to unveil the source of her family's curse: abandon her faith or abandon her humanity. If she wants to survive, she must accept who she is, perform dark magic, and fight to the death for her freedom

What an interesting story! This
story took what we normally think of vampires and weres and flipped it on its
back, bringing a few new and refreshing twists to the paranormal world. Now we have the Cruor, which are a bit like
vampires, and the Strigoi, which are a bit like weres, but so much more. Think shapeshifter…with the ability to shift
into….nah, read it for yourself!
Sophia Parsons is a 22 year old Wiccan who just inherited a house from
her grandfather. She’s only got a couple
friends, due to some horrible things that have happened that have basically
made her an outcast in the small town where she’s lived her whole life. She also is hearing voices in her head, which
would drive the sanest of people crazy – ya know? By the way, let me mention here – you definitely
need to watch the trailer for this. I’ll
include it below. Its definitely one of
the best trailers I’ve seen!
Ok, back to the book. Sophia’s
friend, Ivory, takes her out for a night and she meets Charles. Oh, he’s charming and handsome and all that
jazz. Definitely, that goes without
saying. But man oh man, this guy really
was irritating me for a bit. He was
definitely one of those guys who says one thing, does another, and then doubles
back on both and makes you wonder if you are coming or going. You don’t know how he truly feels, you just
know how you do and you hope he feels the same.
Yeah, that’s him. But never fear,
there are reasons for his behavior and its not that he is just some guy who
likes to play mind games with the women who are interested in him. And once you get to know him a bit better and
he gets more comfortable, well, there is a wealth of heart within this man and
you know you don’t want to let him go.
Um, I mean Sophia, Sophia doesn’t want to let him go….ahem.
This story can definitely teach us that things are not always what they
seem. Those you trust are undeserving,
yet have their reasons. Those you aren’t
sure about can be the greatest ally. These are some of the issues Sophia is
running into. One thing I really love
about Sophia is that although in the beginning you get the feeling she is more
mature than her 22 years, you really get to see her grow as a person within
these pages. The girl is dealing with a
lot – including a mother who has taken up with the town evangelist and really isn’t the mother she should
be. Seriously, this woman had me on fire
with some of the that came out of her mouth! Argh!
This story is full of secrets, and apparently everyone has got them! It’s
a really terrific read and Rebecca Hamilton has really done a great job of
streaming everything together. You
definitely get some eerie and scary moments, a look at the past and a hope for the
future, and even a couple “oh no she didn’t!!” moments haha! I think readers will definitely enjoy this
fresh take on the paranormal world, and eat up the book as fast as they can! The characters are very dynamic and fleshed out, and you really get a
history of the character, not just some two dimensional vision of them, you
actually get to see them. And when you start getting the answers to
your questions, the book really takes off and you get a rollercoaster ride of
events! So enter to win it, or go buy
it. You won’t regret it.

With all of that said, Rebecca Hamilton has also picked out a fancast of the movie for us all to see! When I saw this was her guest post, I couldn't have been more excited (since I have fancast a few of my own favorite books, here on Fictional Candy!). Let me just say - her cast is awesome!! I'd definitely go see this in the theatre!

A movie
casting for my book? Hmm… that would be fun. I played this game with my husband
once (who refuses to read my book) and he said he’d definitely see the movie,
as would every other guy on the planet, based on my female cast.
First I
want to say, if the cover model for my book can act, I’d totally cast her as
Sophia. But, barring that, I think either Amy Smart or Elizabeth Harnois could
pull off the role.
As for
Charles, do you think we could convince Jensen Ackles to grow his hair a little
longer? You know, just because you can never have enough Jensen Ackles. Even
his “Supernatural” co-star, Jared Padalecki, would work nicely. Otherwise, I
think Ben Barnes shows some potential.
Megan
Fox, if they would stop trying to make her look taller than she is, would work
well for Ivory, and a long-haired Morena Baccarin would make for a lovely
Paloma. For Lauren, say hello to Hayley Kiyoko.
For
Marcus, maybe we can work something out with Ryan Gosling… and Mrs.
Franklin can be played by Jane Fonda (sorry, Jane!), with Annette Benning as
Sophia’s mom. Since I’m going All Star with this cast (what can I
say, I dream big?) I’d love to see Kate Beckinsale play Thalia. Finally, Amanda
Seyfried would get my vote for Queen Callista.
So who wants
to see the movie?
But wait!!! The fun doesn't end there!
