Cold As Ice - Cassandra Carr

Title: Cold As Ice

Format: Ebook provided by author for review

From Goodreads:
Luc, Carter, and Jake make up the Buffalo Intimidators' top scoring line and play together both on and off the ice, with a history of sharing women. Each of them is also a client of massage therapist Eva. When they decide they want to be more than just clients, they approach her about having a ménage a quatre.

Eva's been secretly lusting after the guys for months, but was afraid to say anything in an attempt to keep her relationship with the guys on a strictly professional level. Besides, how could she pick just one when such mouthwatering displays of masculinity are spread out on her massage table every day? She agrees to the ménage, but when serious health problems begin to plague members of the team, will she want more than a quick score with her hockey boys?

First, let me start that saying I really enjoyed this story.  At  a bit over 100 pages it really packed a punch in a short amount of time. We have Luc, Jake and Carter, all hockey players for the Intimidators. They've all been going to see Eva, a masseuse, and they've developed a shared attraction for her. They've shared women in the past, so there is definitely open communication between them.  They decide they are going to ramp up the flirtation, and together make a play for Eva.  Little do they know, she's been fantasizing about them just as much as they have been about her!

I really enjoyed this bit of very erotic romance. I imagine it must be difficult to write a menage a quatre and have it be romantic and believable all at the same time.  Cassandra Carr did just that with this story.  It isn't overly graphic, you won't find yourself uncomfortable by the language. It is definitely aiming to turn you on, and it will succeed. If you are into menage stories, then you definitely must give this one a try. I did not read the first book in the Buffalo Intimidators series (but definitely will after reading this!), but I didn't have any problem keeping up or finding my place in the timeline when previous characters were mentioned.

All three of these men proposition Eva, and it isn't long before she accepts. What I really enjoyed about these guys is their gentle nature. I mean, let's face it, they're hockey players - they are used to being rough and calling the shots. But when it comes to Eva, they collectively treat her as a treasure.  They think of her feelings and concerns, and definitely of her pleasure. The question is, how will they make it work, and how far is everyone willing to go?

There was also a subplot involving a health problem, as the synopsis says. I don't want to get too much into that, some things are best left for surprises - remember, no spoilers!  But I really wasn't expecting it, and I found myself holding my breath waiting for the outcome. I think that adding that bit of drama was the perfect addition to this story, and worked perfectly in its capacity.  Haha, is that vague enough?  I really loved that this book wasn't just sex scene after sex scene. There's a lot of story behind it, and you really feel like you've left the book getting a peek into someone's life.

The question Eva asks herself is, is it possible to fall in love with three men at once? Hopefully it is indeed possible! I definitely recommend this book to my readers.  If you are into erotica, or erotic romance you will definitely enjoy this read.

And be sure to come back in a few days when I have a review of Impact, also by Cassandra Carr.  Cowboy lovers won't want to miss that one!
