Hot Rebel by Lynn Raye Harris (Excerpt & Giveaway)

Hot Rebel
Lynn Raye Harris

A rebel on the run…

Victoria Royal is a traitor. Or so the U.S. government believes. Victoria was once a promising sniper in the Army, but now she’s gone rogue—worse, she’s just landed in the middle of a Hostile Operations Team mission in the desert and blasted it all to hell.

Nick “Brandy” Brandon doesn’t expect to run into Victoria when he’s bugging out from a mission gone wrong. It’s been more than three years since she disappeared from the sniper course they were in together, and he’s finally stopped thinking about her killer curves and smart mouth.

But now she’s back—and she’s far more dangerous than Nick ever believed possible… Is she really a traitor? Or is there something more at stake? He has to decide fast—because time’s running out and too many lives hang in the balance…

Hey everyone!  Today I just have a bit of Hot Rebel to share with you - and a giveaway!  So once you get done drooling over that cover (it's great, isn't it?!?)  Check out the excerpt!!  Good luck on the giveaway!

Nobody Asked Me - Sunday (1)

So I have been kicking around a few ideas lately of things I could do for the blog.  Review more?  Interview more?  More memes?  I don't know the answer.  So in the meantime I am bringing back Nobody Asked Me as a sort of Sunday post.  I'm not going to link to all my reviews and purchases.  Heck, I one click so many times, I would never want to keep track.  As for my posts, there's a archive list right over there >>>>

Sorority Wolf by Rebecca Royce (Review)

Title: Sorority Wolf
Series: ROAR
Author: Rebecca Royce
Published: September 2014, Decadent Publishing
Format: Ebook received for review

Kieran is a demon with a big problem. The person whose body he has stolen won’t give up and fights him on every front. Not to mention he has to figure out how to blackmail the president of a werewolf sorority to appease his demon father. He has no time for lost werewolf Alexandra. But he can’t stop thinking about her.

Alexandra is a werewolf who needs a pack. She comes to college determined to get one. But when her plans fall apart, she turns to Kieran for help—unaware of his true nature or exactly what he wants from her.

The two will play a dangerous game…and with so much at stake, can they see the love right in front of their eyes?

This is a short book, roughly 72 pages.  Really, that is such an incredibly short time to make a story work.  Sadly, Sorority Wolf just didn't do it for me.

Twice The Growl by Milly Taiden (Review)

Title: Twice The Growl
Series: Paranormal Dating Agency #1
Author: Milly Taiden
Published: August 2014, Latin Goddess Press
Format: Ebook received for review

Talia Barca needs a date. Badly. She uses the services of the Paranormal Dating Agency hoping for a decent guy to take to a family wedding. A wedding her ex-husband has wormed his way into as a guest.

Connor and Theron want Tally to complete their Alpha triad. She's sexy, curvy and funny. But she's human. And they're not sure she'll go for a relationship with two men at the same time.

As if deciding to give two men a shot wasn’t difficult enough, Tally will also need to deal with a threat from the pack. She'll either prove she's strong enough to be an Alpha mate or find herself at the mercy of a vicious opponent.

Reader Warning: This book contains lots of scorching sex (including a threesome so hot it will make your ereader sizzle), adult language (hanky panky with no dirty talk is no fun), and violence. If this is not the kind of stuff you like to read, skip this book. However, if you like dirty, raunchy sex with some sarcasm and two hot men on one curvy girl, then this is the book for you.

Whenever I read Milly Taiden, I know I'm in for a treat.  It's just a given.  She knows how to get me to connect to her characters, and she puts them in crazy situations that just make me DIE!  And oh yeah, there is the fabulous extremely hot sex.  That ain't half bad either (wink wink!)

#WhatADick

Vaughn Asher. I’ve stalked him relentlessly. I shaped and formed my lust into the perfect dirty hashtag…day after day… weekend after weekend. He was my prince. My fairy tale. My fantasy.

I gave him the best years of my online life and what did he do for me?

Ruined my social media experience one tweet at a time. That’s what.

MovieStar @VaughnAsher
@FilthyBlueBird #Fantastic #BackToNatureFucking
#MissingSomething #You

And now #TheDickWhoIsVaughnAsher thinks he can weasel his way back into this filthy blue bird’s Twitter account? He’s wrong.

His public fantasy is about to collide… ah, fuck it. He’s hot as hell, bitches. I need more than a free sample. This time I want it all and I’ll do whatever it takes to get it.

Ok, so I just read part two of this six part series.  Holy crap.

Dead of Night by Jonathan Maberry (Review)

Title: Dead of Night
Series: Dead Of Night #1
Author: Jonathan Maberry
Published: October 2011, St Martins Griffin
Format: Library Borrow

A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects. Before he could be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Infected. Contagious. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang…but a bite.

Ok, this is my first Jonathan Maberry book, and I am completely blown away.  Dead of Night was flipping awesome.  I'm glad I listened to Christy @ Christy's Love of Books and got on board with this series - now I just have to find time to read the rest of his books!

Odium II by Claire C Riley - Review

Title: Odium II
Series: The Dead Saga #2
Author: Claire C Riley
Published: May 2014
Format: Ebook received for review

Fortune favours…the DEAD!

Some secrets are too horrific to ever be forgiven, and some people should never be trusted.

Tortured, starved and on the run, Nina thinks she’s faced the worst that mankind has to offer, but she’s wrong. She may have survived this long, but she’s not come out of it unscathed, and there’s worse to come.

Nina’s trusty Doc Martins are showing signs of the zombie Apocalypse, and she isn’t faring much better. With her snarky attitude guaranteed to get her in trouble, Nina needs to forgive the past, and to live once more in the present, and learn that sometimes she needs to place her trust in other people.

Because when people are faced with the end of times, they’ll do anything to survive.

Last night I finished Odium II by Claire C Riley and I loved every freaking minute!!  This book got back to Nina, and her point of view.  I really enjoyed getting the backstories of other characters in Odium Origins, but I really was happy to get back to Nina.  She is the hero, afterall.

Outfoxed By Love by Eve Langlais, Release Day Blitz

Outfoxed By Love
Eve Langlais

Don't moose with his fox!

A bullheaded moose doesn't stand a chance when a fox decides to make him her mate.

Boris left to defend his country still a boy. He came back a changed man. A damaged man.

But Jan still wants him.

A man of few words, Boris has a firm way of saying No, but this determined vixen knows he's her mate. Despite some less than subtle overtures, Jan has not had much success in getting her bullheaded moose to notice her, but all that changes when her life is put in danger.

Suddenly the damaged soldier keeps finding excuses to come to her rescue, but as far as Jan is concerned, her mate is the one in need of saving.

It will take some subtle maneuvering to outfox her moose into admitting he loves her, but this wily vixen is more than ready for the challenge. And if that doesn't work, momma's offered to loan her the shot gun used for her own engagement.

Welcome to Kodiak Point, where the wildlife might wear clothes, but animal instinct rules the heart.

I am so excited for this book!!!  We got a sneak peak at these two in Kodiak's Claim, and right away I knew I couldn't wait for Boris' and Jan's story!  And now it's almost here!!

A Vault Of Sins by Sarah Harian (Review)

Title: A Vault Of Sins
Series: Chaos Theory #2
Author: Sarah Harian
Published: September 16, 2014 - Penguin/Intermix
Format: Galley - Thank you Penguin!
In her stunning New Adult debut, The Wicked We Have Done, Sarah Harian introduced readers to the Compass Room: a twisted experimental jail where the guilty and the innocent suffer alike. But breaking out was only the beginning…

Even though she’s escaped, twenty-two-year-old Evalyn Ibarra is anything but free. She’s desperate to return to a life that no longer exists, but prying reporters continually draw her back into nightmarish memories, using the tabloids to vilify her. Bad press is the last thing she needs during the trial of the year: the case that she and her fellow survivors staked against the Compass Room engineers. A case that could terminate the use of the inhumane system forever...

But in her dreams, she is still locked in that terrifying jail.

When she wakes, someone is trying to communicate with her in secret, through strange and intricate clues. As Evalyn follows their signs, she uncovers a conspiracy that goes so much deeper than her own ordeal. A dangerous intrigue that only she can bring to light. One that will force her to work with the one person she doesn’t want to see.

The person who owns her heart...

This is a crazy crazy series, and I'm totally loving it!  Now, I've kind of messed up my own reading order and totally skipped Our Broken Sky, because when I started reading A Vault of Sins, I thought I was reading Our Broken Sky.  I even emailed my friends and was all like, "Um, guys this book isn't focused on Valerie, like at all..." and then they were like, "Um, Liz, you're a dork, you're reading the wrong book!" and I was all like, "OMG, you're right!" So later I will read Our Broken Sky, which is a novella based on Valerie, who is a bad as hell character and totally deserves to be read.

Ricochet by Keri Lake (Cover Reveal & Giveaway)

The only sure way to destroy a man is to take what he cannot live without.

Three years ago, I had everything.

A beautiful wife.

A son.

A reason for living.

Until a ruthless task force, assembled under Mayor Michael Culling, with a brutal strategy to make the streets of Detroit ‘safe’, ripped away everything I loved in a deadly hunt called The Culling.

They tried to kill me, too.  I wish they had.  Now I’m cursed by the memories of that night, and the words I whispered to my dying wife.

A promise—to avenge the wrong and set it right.

I’m no longer Nick Ryder.  I’m a masked vigilante.  Faceless.  Loveless.  Fearless.  A man with nothing left to lose—one who’s seen the dark and violent truth behind the city’s flawless veneer.

Michael Culling doesn’t know who I am.  Or what I want.  All he knows is that I’ve kidnapped his beautiful wife.

An eye for an eye—isn’t that how the saying goes? And Aubree Culling is the perfect pawn to destroy him.

If she doesn’t destroy me first.

Predator & Prey, James D Horton (Review)

Title: Predator & Prey
Series: Predator & Prey #1
Author: James D Horton
Published: July 2014 KDP
Format: Ebook received for review
Book Length: 31 pages, Kindle Edition

Lily works the night shift at a radio station, taking calls from forlorn and damaged souls who can't sleep. She knows their pain and they find solace in her comforting words. The city is ruthless; nameless creatures roam the streets and prey on the lost and innocent.

As she leaves work one night at the crest of dawn, Lily comes face-to-face with depravity. She is a survivor at heart, but she is unfairly outnumbered and surrenders to her fate. From the shadows an ally emerges, the mysterious and alluring, Wolf. After coming to Lily's aid, he takes her to shelter.

The immediate danger has passed, but the incident is far from over. Wolf tells Lily she is not prey, and sets off into the night with her by his side to set a wrong right. What she sees when entering the dark heart of the city will change her existence forever. Has Wolf taken on a force too big? Will Lily survive the night?

This story starts off on a really eerie tone, reminiscent of some of the horror movies I used to love back in the day.  Lily is a DJ for late night talk radio.  She's at the station, fielding all sorts of calls every night.  You can imagine what kind of calls that could bring in, right?  I could easily picture it going downhill fast, working there.

Rival by Penelope Douglas (Review)

Title: Rival
Series: Fall Away #2
Author: Penelope Douglas
Published: August 26, 2014 - Penguin
Format: Print copy received for review

Madoc and Fallon. Two estranged teenagers playing games that push the boundaries between love and war…

She’s back.

For the two years she’s been away at boarding school, there was no word from her. Back when we lived in the same house, she used to cut me down during the day and then leave her door open for me at night.

I was stupid then, but now I’m ready to beat her at her own game…

I’m back.

Two years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he’s better than me.

But I won’t be scared away. Or pushed down. I’ll call his bluff and fight back. That’s what he wants, right? As long as I keep my guard up, he’ll never know how much he affects me….

Ok! Rival by Penelope Douglas – it blew me away! Let me start by saying, I haven’t read any other books in this series, and while I believe this book worked as a standalone, there were references to things that just threw me in the beginning of the book. I do think it would have beneficial to read book one, and I might even go back and read it because Tate and Jared seem pretty damn awesome. With that being said, I’m not sure how they could be better than Fallon and Madoc, because those two just freaking rocked it.

Excerpt and BIG Giveaway for The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan

The Hook Up
Kristen Callihan

The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all… No falling in love.

Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy right?

Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule…

Football has been good to Drew. It’s given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there’s one problem: she's shut him down. Completely.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it’s up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she’s truly hooked. It's a good thing Drew knows all about winning.

All’s fair in love and football…Game on.

Alright alright alright!  This book sounds HOT! I've got it up for review later this month, but right now they are running an awesome giveaway for a $50 gift card, AND ten copies of The Hook Up, so I definitely thought it'd be best to let you in on this now!  Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it!

Shatter, Erin McCarthy (Review)

Title: Shatter
Series: True Believers #4
Author: Erin McCarthy
Published: September 2, 2014 - Intermix
Format: NetGalley.  Thank you Penguin!

Kylie Warner prides herself on being optimistic, but after finding her best friend in bed with her boyfriend and flunking chemistry, her upbeat attitude has taken a dive. Even an impromptu hook-up with her sexy new chemistry tutor only brightens her mood slightly. After all, it’s not like she’ll ever see the tattooed scholar again…

While he’s a whiz at complex equations, Jonathon Kadisch has trouble when it comes to figuring out women. So when Kylie tells him that she’s pregnant after their night of passion, he’s at a complete loss. He’s prepared to be a good father—unlike his own deadbeat dad—but he’s less prepared to fall for the genuine and alluring blonde bearing his child.

With emotions running high, Kylie wonders if Jonathon’s devotion is out of growing love or looming obligation. And when heartbreak threatens to tear them apart, Jonathon will have to fight for the only girl who’s ever made him feel whole…

Sigh.  I haven't read anything to confirm or deny this, but I'm pretty sure this is the last book in the series.  I mean, who is left?  So with that in mind, it was a bittersweet read.  I've really grown to love all of the characters who remain constant in the series, and saying goodbye is not something I am entirely ready for.  Double Sigh.  With that said, Shatter really ended the series with a bang.  With every new book in the series, I'm sure I won't love it more than the one before, and with every new book, it quickly becomes my favorite.

Cover Reveal, Polar Bared by Eve Langlais

What’s a bear to do when a human has a polar-izing effect?

When Vicky accidentally slides into the side of a polar bear, she doesn’t expect to fall in love. Eaten yes, perhaps used as a chew toy, but become the object of a bear’s affection and lust?

Crazy! Almost as crazy as the fact the polar bear turns out to be a man. A sexy man. A man who growls, and roars and does everything he can to chase her away.

Only to come back.

Poor Gene. After the pain and betrayal he suffered in the war all he wants is vengeance against the brothers who left him behind. But he’s confused when instead of wanting to punish him for his evil acts, they offer him forgiveness.

As if that weren’t annoying enough, the cutest geek he ever met—with caramel kissed skin covering a lush, rounded figure and wearing the sexiest dark rimmed glasses—won’t leave him alone. Or more like, he can’t seem to stop following her. And it isn’t just because someone is out to hurt her.

He wants her. But does he want her more than vengeance?
