Review: Two Wrongs One Right by Katee Robert

Title: Two Wrongs, One Right
Series: Come Undone #3
Author: Katee Robert
Published: August 2013, Entangled Brazen
Format: Ebook received for review

Eight years ago, former Army sergeant Nathan Schultz let the love of his life disappear without a fight. After watching everyone around him find happiness while he slipped further away, he’s finally ready to fight for Chelsea Callaghan—and he’s not afraid to play dirty.

Chelsea has always followed her conservative family’s rules—with one heartbreaking exception. When she receives an invitation to an old high school friend’s wedding, she knows who’s to blame. Though she goes solely to give Nathan a piece of her mind, he blackmails her into staying the entire week. With him.

There’s no way she’ll bow to Nathan’s will without making him pay. Unfortunately, revenge is a dish best served fully clothed, and they can’t be in the same room without losing theirs. As insatiable, anger-fueled lust shifts into something more, they begin to lose sight of why they can’t be together. But with so many unforgivable wrongs between them, can Nathan and Chelsea ever make things right?

Two Wrongs, One Right is the story of Chelsea and Nathan, a couple with some history between them. When Chelsea receives an invitation to Gabe’s wedding, who is Nathan’s brother, she sees it as an opportunity to resolve some old feelings. She goes with the intent of closure. Silly silly girl. When confronted with the hotness that is Nathan, nothing will be closed.

I enjoyed this book because it was packed full with hot sex. The storyline of the story did not grab me as much, and at times I felt the sheer quantity of sex between Nathan and Chelsea seemed opposed to the storyline. Chelsea was going to the wedding to specifically to see Nathan and end their history together. But no sooner does she get there then they are getting it on.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing I love more than some hot nookie in my books. I love it. And this book is definitely HOT. Nathan and Chelsea are inventive and intense. At times Nathan is a bit Dominant, and we all know that makes me swoon. But Chelsea doesn’t back down, and I love that too. But I felt there was just too much sex, it was in direct opposition to her goal. It actually brought my opinion down of Chelsea, because as soon as Nathan dangled dirty talk in front of her, she forgot all of her initial intentions. So by the end, Chelsea felt kind of wishy washy.

Nathan’s grin was downright wolfish. “Oh, I don’t know about that. You’ve been here less than an hour and you’re already practically begging me to kiss you.” His gaze dropped to her mouth, and it was everything she could do not to lick her lips. “It’s okay, baby. You don’t have to beg. I’m more than willing to kiss every single fucking inch of you.”

Now, Nathan, on the other hand, I liked. He began by being devious with the right reasons behind it, and he stayed that way the whole way through. He played dirty. He knew what his girl wanted deep down, and he gave it to her. He was hard hitting, and he drove his point home.

The rest of the story? Meh. It didn’t do much for me. Chelsea comes from a straight-laced political high brow family. They control everything in her life, it seems. But they don’t truly know her, or appreciate her. Nathan’s family is close and tight-knit, the way a family should be. Even after losing the matriarch, his mother, they are still held together like glue. That’s the kind of familial situation I like to see in books.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was easy to read, and nothing really tore me up. Like I said, the naked times were sexy as hell. The rest of the story, was alright. It wasn’t bad, by any means, just not what I had hoped for. I say give it a shot. From what I understand, the rest of the series is pretty terrific, and I liked this installment enough that I would be willing to read the rest.

Review: Sealed With A Purr by Celia Kyle

Title: Sealed With A Purr
Series: Ridgeville #6
Author: Celia Kyle
Published: August 2013, Summerhouse Publishing
Format: Ebook received for review

Going to Georgia in order to watch over a handful of women is not Harding’s idea of a good time. With the death of Alistair McCain¬—ex-leader of Freedom—there’s a lot of clean up going on. That includes helping Freedom’s released captives recover in a safe environment. Hence, Harding having to make the trip down south. Really…how hard could it be to keep five women safe? Harder than he thinks.

Because there are two women who hardly speak, another who hardly has an inch of control, and then another who feels the last woman rounding out the group should die. It’s that last woman—curvaceous, lush, and gorgeous—that intrigues him the most. Tess is beautiful, alluring, and…his.

Tess knows pain, hatred, and hopelessness. What she doesn’t know is hope or love. Harding Grange is tempting her to discover both…with him. The massive lion shifter entices her with his strength, torments her with his body, and lures her with his tortured memories. They have a painful past in common, but while he’s ready to jump into mating, she’s trying to figure out the easiest way for him to kill her if she goes crazy after she’s Changed. Because she is, after all, Alistair McCain’s daughter.

Sealed With A Purr had me humming the whole way through! I’ve not read any of the other Ridgeville series – yet - but I easily found myself enthralled with the story of Harding and Tess. I didn’t feel lost through the story, having jumped in so late. Things were explained and gone over well enough that I felt up to date on the big things. But let me tell you, some of the characters I met in Sealed With A Purr were so freaking awesome, I am definitely going back and reading their stories!

A Most Devilish Rogue
Ashlyn Macnamara

Years ago, when Isabelle Mears was still a young miss too infatuated to know better, she surrendered her innocence to a dishonorable man. Though ruined and cast out from society, she has worked hard to shelter her illegitimate son, Jack. Having sworn off men in her quiet but dignified life, Isabelle is unprepared for the deep longing that rips through her when a handsome stranger rescues her rambunctious six-year-old from the pounding ocean surf.

George Upperton is a man in trouble with debts, women, and a meddling family. He is, by all accounts, the last gentleman on earth Isabelle should be drawn to. But loneliness is a hard mistress, and caution gives way to desire . . . even though Isabelle is convinced that happiness can’t be found in the arms of such a devilish rogue. Only when Jack is kidnapped does Isabelle discover the true depth of George’s devotion—and how far a good man will go to fight for the woman whose love is all that matters.

Happy-Almost-Friday everyone!  Today I have Ashlyn Macnamara over to talk about how characters take over and tell the story - and I don't doubt it!!

Review: Play Me by Diane Alberts

Title: Play Me
Series: Take A Chance, #3
Author: Diane Alberts
Published: July 29, 2013, Entangled Publishing
Format; Ebook provided for review (Thank you, Entangled!)

Even the best-laid plans can go awry.

Single-mom Kiersten Worth knows a bottle of champagne and night of hot, no-strings-attached sex is the perfect solution to her jilted bride blues…and Garrett Kelly, long-time friend and her teenaged son’s sexy basketball coach, is just the stud for the job.

Garrett wants more from the elusive temptress than a casual affair, but he never expects it to come in the form of an unexpected pregnancy. When he proposes an unorthodox solution—move in and raise their baby together—Kiersten has to decide whether to let down her guard and open her heart to the man who secretly loved her for years, or risk losing his tender embrace for good.

Play Me is the story of Kiersten and Garrett. I really fell for this story the whole way through. The writing was terrific and grabbed me right from the start. The storyline was smooth and quick moving. Everything was perfect.

A while ago Naomi from Nomi’s Paranormal Palace turned me on to M Leighton and her Bad Boys series. I devoured the first two books! I mean seriously, they consumed me – I couldn’t get enough. And then I got wind of the third book, Everything For Us, and I began hunting down leads so I could get in early on this. I was that eager, I definitely didn’t think I could wait until it was released. Luckily, the reading fates were shining down on me. Thanks to Penguin and NetGalley, I was able to review a copy. And you know what? This book was just as amazing as the first two.

First – let me say this and let me be crystal clear – if you don’t want to ruin the surprise do not read beyond this point. I’ll even put the page break in here so newsletter subscribers don’t get spoiled. The first two books are imperative!! If you don't mind some minor talk, then please read on!

Cover Reveal/Giveaway: Stolen Innocence by Vivi Dumas

They say ignorance is bliss, but when it comes to love and mating, Charity Lovell wished someone had schooled her on the ins and outs. She fell hard when she saw the beautiful face of the fair-haired demon as he lay broken in Lucifer’s dungeon. Her body ached for him. Her heart cried for him. This had to be her mate, right? Who else could make her trade her soul to the Devil to save someone she didn’t know? Someone should’ve told her love wasn’t quite as straight forward as that.

Damon lived an uncomplicated life, even as the alpha of the Lake Charles pack and the son of Lucifer. He should’ve taken a mate years ago, but held on to the hope of love. Only one female came close to making him believe he still had a chance for happiness. Yet, her heart belonged to someone else. Once again, the feeling is back, stronger than ever. And again, his female has pledged herself to another. Damn demons were ruining his love life. This time Damon plans to fight for what was his and win his rightful mate.

Oooh, that sounds good, right?  I definitely am putting this series on my radar.  How about you?  Do you like this cover?  I love how there are so many colors in it, but its subtle.  And of course, everyone is hot.  I'm a bit fond of blondie there on the left ;)  Here is an excerpt for ya too, just to seal the deal a bit.  And check out the covers for the previous books below too!

And for those of you who enter the giveaway, please be aware the prize won't be ready until mid-September.  Thanks for coming by!

As a fireman, Matt Riley had been at the scene when his brother was killed. Several other firefighters had to hold him back to keep him from going after his brother in the collapsing building. Cover Reveal: Greed by Fisher Amelie

Gather ‘round, love, because I want you. I want what you have, I want what you don’t have, I want more of what I already have. I want. But if you so much as ask for something in return, go ahead and walk away. Know if you want to play in my world, it’s every man for themselves and the weak become mine. Leeches will be obliterated because I make it my job to destroy them. I protect what’s mine and I take what’s yours...because that’s what I do. I want.

My story will not endear me to you and, frankly, I could care less if it does because I’m in this for the money and nothing else. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a corrupt, money hungry, immoral asshole from Los Angeles. I’m every man’s worst nightmare and every girl’s fantasy.

I’m Spencer Blackwell...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most coveted guy to the guy no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Greed

Ahem... Oooooh Yeahhhh.  Now that is a freaking cover!  The color scheme, the wild horses, the fine denim.  Yep.  I'm digging it.  What?  Abs?  Yikes!  I didn't even see those!  And if you believe that...

Bite Size Review: Alice's Alpha by Ann Gimpel

Title: Alice's Alpha
Series: Wolf Clan Shifters Book 1
Author: Ann Gimpel
Published: July 2013, Liquid Silver Books
Format: Ebook provided for review

It’s 1936. Thirty-year-old Alice has almost given up finding a man. Between civil engineering and mountain climbing, her interests are so masculine she scares men away. A poor route choice lands her next to horror movie star Lon Chaney’s cabin deep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She’s wary when Jed, a strikingly handsome man, offers her shelter.

By the time she discovers he’s clan leader for a pack of wolf shifters, she’s in way too deep to back out. Her carefully tended wasteland of a heart cracks wide open and all her preconceived notions shatter. Snared by the mate bond, Alice discovers passion hot enough to change her forever. She’s just getting used to Jed when his lieutenants show up, and she discovers she’s mated to all three.

***Bite Size Review***

It's 1936 and Alice is a forward thinking woman.  She wouldn't be content to sit home and be a wife, she wants to see, to learn, to do.  This is something I find myself liking about her.  One day, while mountain climbing with her best friend, Brent, he suddenly has to leave without reason.  He tells her to quickly find her way to the car and lock herself in.  Seriously, what?  This just seemed very... unlikely. First of all, he supposedly is her best friend, but he's leaving her on the side of the mountain.  And secondly, she doesn't flip out on him?  I repeat, seriously.... what? And then she runs into a man at Lon Chaney's cabin.  His name is Jed, and I did find myself liking him quite a bit. He was definitely the Alpha of the wolves, and acted it.

Today Stacey is going to chat about why she wrote a BDSM book that only has one sex scene.  I'm going to put the review up later tonight.  It was terrific, I loved every minute.  So on with the guest post - welcome, Stacey!

Everyone is exactly like me.
There is no one like me.
The rough fabric of my cotton nightgown chafes so I lie very still. They say my discomfort comes from being built like one accustomed to niceties. How is that fair when I myself have never experienced anything but copies of the real thing?
My entire life is an imitation.
I am an Imitation.
I’ve been here five years. Training. Preparing. Waiting.
And now I have a letter.
My assignment has begun.
I am a prisoner.
I am not Raven Rogen.
I am here to die.

When I first read this blurb, I thought this book was going to be slightly like that movie with Saoirse Ronan, Hanna. I was wildly and gleefully wrong. This book rocked! Heather Hildenbrand, aside from being hilarious in a previous interview I did with her (link below), is an awesome author and she’s made an instant fan. Let’s talk about the book, eh?

Vlog/Giveaway: Covert Craving by Jennifer James

Covert Craving
Jennifer James

She just stripped in front of an NYPD detective...

The glow-in-the-dark water at Camp Sunny Woods left Chloe Sanders with the ability to disappear from sight.

Thirteen years later, she uses her “gift” to take out criminals when she can. If she’s got to be part of a freak show, she’s going to do some good while in the buff.

And he’s enjoying studying every luscious curve…

Color blind detective Jacob Greiff smokes to weaken the overwhelming messages his nose sends him. One summer camp trip was enough for him. His priority right now is busting the vigilante leaving burglars tied up with panty hose and women’s scarves.

He thinks he’s hallucinating when he sees a petite, bare foot brunette in an enormous trench coat at his crime scenes because for the first time in years, he’s seeing someone in full color.

He’s not sure he’s buying it, but Chloe sure looks great when she’s “invisible.”

Despite his own supernatural abilities and the raging lust between them, Greiff wonders if Chloe isn’t some kind of nut who gets off on public nudity. She insists she can disappear from view when naked, that he’s the only one who can see her when she’s in the buff.

Their shared past comes to a treacherous intersection when a man shows up at Chloe’s apartment and informs them at gun point it’s time to report for duty—or else.

So here we are for the Covert Craving tour.  Today though, we have something a little bit different.  Jennifer decided to surprise me with something I love... Zombies!!!  And on top of that, she made a vlog for the post.  How wickedly awesome is that??  So sit back and watch!  Enter the giveaway at the end, too.  Good luck!

Cover Reveal: Wicked Thing by Angeline Kace

Carmyn Rafferty witnessed the aftermath of her mother's affair. She learned at a young age not to trust anyone. Especially not your spouse. So she's planned. She's planned every detail of her life: who her husband will be, what their careers will be, what their lives will be like. All to avoid the pain of infidelity.

Dallas Brown lives a life all his own. He doesn't do relationships, he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him, and he doesn't live up to anyone's expectations but his own.

When Carmyn's fiancé cheats on her, it sends her into a whirlwind of one-night stands with the most infamous player on campus. She can't seem to stay away from this tough guy and his dangerous motorcycle. Everything about him is the complete opposite of who she'd planned to fall in love with: tattoos, dark stubble along his jawline, and hair that brushes his shoulders.

As Dallas and Carmyn begin to fall deeper and deeper into each other, they learn that love can truly be a wicked, wicked thing.

So how do you like this cover?  Have you read Angeline Kace yet?  Lately I've been raving all over the planet about her, so I am super excited for this book.  I think this cover is sexy hot, both of those people just smolder!  But it doesn't release until next month!!  I will be on the lookout.  Will you?

Promo/Giveaway: Blood Rule by Heather Hildenbrand

Blood Rule
Heather Hildenbrand

Forty-six.
That’s how many hybrids survived the Hunter attack in the woods after I revived them with an injection of my blood. That’s how many followed me home to Frederick Falls. And that’s how many were now mentally linked to me through a blood bond.

Two days. Three valium. Fourteen hours of sleep.
That’s what it took to realize I wasn’t losing my mind as a result of the noise in my own head.

Sixteen.
That’s how many days have passed since I almost killed Alex. That’s how many days I’ve sat by his bedside, waiting for him to wake up. To ease the guilt, to understand his betrayal, to remember the exact shade of brown in his eyes.

Zero.
That’s my chances of skating by with Gordon Steppe and the Hunter Council. They want me for questioning. I’m afraid what’ll happen if I give them answers.

Teaser!!

I missed Alex terribly. Our banter, his sarcasm, my grumpiness, his twisted pleasure at my dislike of exercise. There were little things like the way he swiped a hand over his face when he was frustrated with me or the way he bit his lip in concentration when he hunted. But all of those things felt more and more settled into a place of friendship. Like George. Or maybe not quite like that. Certain memories still had the power to make my insides twist—like the goodbye we’d shared during our last night at Wood Point Academy. When he’d promised to always find me and I told him he was my family. The first kiss we’d shared that day in the woods. Or the second kiss, in the hotel room after he’d rescued me from feral hybrids.

Five years ago she ran. . .

Kayla is back where she belongs: in Jack’s arms. But after the initial explosion of pent up longing and need have passed, she has to convince him to complete the bond between them.

Ingrained fears sent her running, but the need for her mate and the love she’s denied has brought her back. To be Marked will join their souls together forever, a bond Kayla can no longer live without.

An Alpha wolf, Jack waited for Kayla to return to him and protected her from afar. When he senses her outside his home, he isn’t beyond setting a trap meant to entice her back.

Once he has her, he has to show her it isn’t just her heart he needs.

He needs her trust and with it, her submission.

If you’ve spent any amount of time talking to me, I’ve probably recommended a Jennifer James book to you. I love her. She gives me the giddies and she’s done it again with Marked.

Stream Team fun for SR Johannes

Have you ever considered joining a street team?  I'm on several, and one of the most recent ones I've join is for SR Johannes.  At the end of this post you can see what kind of posts I've done with her before (all before joining her street team)

What is a street team? A street team is a group of fans or supporters who rally behind an artist, band, or author. Street teams provide ways for us fans to help spread the word about the books and authors we love. Plus as a bonus most street teams offer really neat perks for being a part of the group. Think of it like your book club, but cooler.

I generally enjoy books based on a one night stand type of situation, especially when they end in a happily ever after for the character.  This book was enjoyable, I did like it, mostly. There were a couple points I had issue with, but overall they didn't affect my enjoyment too much.
