Review & Interview: Chance On Love by Vristen Pierce

Title: Chance On Love
Series: No
Author: Vristen Pierce
Published: January 2014
Format: Ebook received for review

Foul-mouthed curmudgeon Stephanie Love has one bright spot in her life and it definitely has nothing to do with romance. Being cheated on by her wealthy louse of a boyfriend, and making a (mostly unintentional) attempt at homicide, are the least of her worries. She's on the fast track to becoming News Director--until a corporation buys out the station she works for, that is.

Charming, gorgeous, and arrogant, Chance Valentine has little patience for Stephanie's smart mouth and her crass, overly outspoken personality. Nothing overshadows the immediate dislike they take to one another--except the intense sexual chemistry they share. When he not only refuses to give Stephanie her promotion, but gives the gig to her adversary, Stephanie's had enough. While she's busy making plans to use him to get what she wants, he has a strategy of his own. He'll make the grumpy temptress fall in love, and then he'll break her heart. It doesn't take him long, however, to realize he's met his match.

Through a series of steamy encounters, they quickly discover that even the best revenge
schemes can go off course...and lead straight to love.

Ha!  Chance On Love was an awesome read.  This was my first by author Vristen Pierce, but I will definitely be looking for more of her books.  I found this book to be funny, sexy, rough, intelligent, and just hot.

Chat with Sigal Ehrlich, author of Layers (+2 Giveaways!)

Layers
Sigal Erhlich

According to Hayley love is a subject of ridicule, a myth created by hopeless romantics.

When Hayley makes a resolution to declare her loose lifestyle era R.I.P, it’s all good in theory…

That is until she meets Daniel Stark, a well-respected, mid-thirties business man who is known for his short temper, lack of steady relationships as well as his strict preserve of his private life.

Opinionated, sharp tongued Hayley accidently steps into his office leaving Daniel resolved to put Hayley in her place and have her in his bed.

Both Hayley and Daniel can’t avoid the immediate instigation of the attraction between them.

In a unanimously agreed upon verdict by Hayley and her two best friends, Ian the gay self-absorbed, aspiring model and Natasha the witty, borderline neurotic soul mate, Daniel Stark is to be Hayley’s pure physical attraction, emotions aside era closure.

Will it indeed be a closure, or a beginning to something neither Hayley nor Daniel ever bargained for…

Debra Doxer stops by for an interview about Keep You From Harm (+ Giveaway!)

Keep You From Harm
Debra Doxer

Secrets…

They weigh you down. I’ve kept a secret all my life. It’s my mother’s secret, too. I inherited it from her along with a unique ability that only we possess. She’s gone now, another victim of addiction. If her death isn’t enough to bring me to my knees, her betrayal flays me to the bone. Because the secret my mother and I have been keeping is just one of many she’d kept. She never told me I have an older brother. And now he’s here, eager to be my guardian.

There is no one else. So I move across the country to live with this stranger, my brother. But experience has taught me that most situations are temporary and forming attachments only leads to hurt in the end. That’s why I’m determined to keep to myself in this new place, struggling to seem aloof while I’m quietly breaking apart.

Then I meet Lucas…

His magnetism is hard to resist, and most girls at school aren’t resisting. I don’t fall so easily though, especially not for guys who use their good looks as a weapon. From the start, our interactions are tense and volatile. I know it’s because I’m denying the unwelcome desire that grips me when he’s near. I think he feels it, too. He looks at me with an intensity that threatens to unhinge my resolve. Soon he’s trying to break through the walls that past hurts have built.

But I’m not what I appear to be, and it wouldn’t be fair to get involved with him. At least that’s what I tell myself. Until a terrible act of violence reveals that Lucas has a secret, too. It’s a secret that links us together and ties us to an evil history I could never have imagined.

Hey everyone!  Today I have an interview with author Debra Doxer!!  I hope you enjoy it, and add Keep You From Harm on your TBR today!  Don't forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom.  It is for one prize, and open to both US & International!  Thanks for coming by!!

Hi Debra! So nice to meet you!  Pull up a seat and let’s have a chat!
So nice to meet you, too. Thanks for having me here.

So today we are here to talk about Keep You From Harm.  Can you tell us a little bit about this book?
It’s a romance with a big dose of mystery and a dash of paranormal thrown in. It includes themes about staying true to yourself and being completely selfless in a world where that trait isn’t always valued. It’s also about overcoming adversity and opening your heart to love.
It sounds great, I can't wait to read it!

As someone who hasn’t read the book yet, what kind of things can I expect to happen in the pages?
You can expect a strong heroine to root for and a love interest that makes you both swoon and grit your teeth in frustration. There is some explosive chemistry between the main characters who are attracted immediately, but resist each other due to the secrets they’re both keeping. As those secrets unravel, it’s hard to tell the bad guys from the good guys. From what I hear from readers so far, the ending packs an unexpected punch.

A little bit of fun – are there any celebrity look-alikes you would pick to play your main characters?
I am so out of touch when it comes to celebrities. But based on those I do know, if I had to choose, I’d say Blake Lively and Cam Gigandet. They’re kind of beyond the age range of the main characters who are 17 and 18, but they’d sure be nice to look at.
Um, hell yeah!

Debra, do you have any other upcoming projects you can share with us?
Right now, I’m writing the second book in the Remedy series. This time, the story is being told from dual points of view, both Lucas’s and Raielle’s. I hope readers will be happy with the direction the story takes. The second Remedy book will release in May or June of 2014. I’m also working on a new adult contemporary romance which I’m planning to release next year.

What’s a day in the life of Debra Doxer like?
When I wake up, my servants bring me my breakfast on a silver tray and read me my schedule for the day. Oh wait, that’s Kate Middleton’s day. You mean my day? Well, it’s a bit different from that.  I’m a single mom with a full-time job and a three-year-old who thinks she’s the boss. I drop her off at preschool in the morning, and then I fight the traffic all the way to work.  I’m at the office all day until the dinner rush starts. In the evening, I try to have some quality time with my daughter before she goes to sleep. Then I borrow on my own sleep to create characters and worlds for them to navigate through. I really love writing at night, when everything is so quiet, and it seems like anything is possible on the page.  That’s my time.
I can completely relate!

What is your favorite genre to read?  Do you have a “go-to” author?
I have two favorite genres – romance and mystery. Right now, my go-to author is Samantha Young. I’m loving her books. She writes amazing dialog.

If I (or someone else) gave you a million dollars, what’s the first thing you would do?
Put it in the bank. I figure that amount should cover half of my daughter’s college tuition by the time she gets there.

From all of your books, which is your favorite character – and why?
Right now, it’s Raielle from Keep You From Harm. I just love her, and it could be because I’m in her head all the time, but I really admire who she is. She always puts others ahead of herself, and her integrity is unquestionable. I enjoy putting her into situations that test her. So far, she always does the right thing. It’s going to be interesting to conjure up a situation where she makes a selfish choice. Getting her to that place is going to take some tricky maneuvering.

If you could live within any book from any author, which would you choose?
Is it terrible to say my own book – Keep You From Harm? When I was writing it, I was basically living out some fantasies. Who doesn’t want an awesome superpower? Who doesn’t want to meet their soul mate and have adventures with him? So, yeah.  I’d love to be in my own book – as long as I could still control everything, of course.  But only saying my own book is making me squirm a little, so I’ll also say Pride and Prejudice. Going back in time and meeting Elizabeth and Darcy would be incredible as long as my air-conditioning and my Chuck Taylors could come with me.

How about some favorites?
-Pie I’m not real big on pie, but I looove chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.
Yeah?  How about this one??

-Vacation SpotCape Cod

-Drink Diet Pepsi. I drink way too much of it.

-Color - Blue

-TV Show - Homeland

Thanks for stopping by Debra, it’s been fun getting to know you!
Thank you so much for having me. You ask great questions.

Interview & Giveaway with Kelley York for the Embrace Launch Celebration!

Hushed
Kelley York

He’s loved her. Killed for her. Yet he may not be able to save her.

Eighteen-year-old Archer couldn’t protect his best friend, Vivian, from what happened when they were kids. Since then, he’s never stopped trying to shelter her from everything else. It doesn’t matter that Vivian only uses him when skipping from one toxic relationship to another. Archer is always there, reeled in and tossed out, waiting to be noticed.

Then Evan Bishop breezes into town with a warm smile and calming touch, and Archer can’t deny his attraction to him. Evan is the only person who keeps him around without a single string attached. And the harder Archer falls for Evan, the more he sees Vivian for the manipulative hot-mess she really is.

But Viv has her hooks in deep, and once she finds out Archer’s dark secret, she threatens to expose the truth if she doesn’t get what she wants. And what she wants is for him to end his relationship with Evan...permanently.

Wow, pretty haunting cover right?  And did you read that blurb?  Hushed is most definitely on my TBR list.  And recently I got to interview the author, Kelley York.  So join us today for the Embrace launch celebration, and check out our interview.  Don't forget to enter the giveaway!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Kelley!  Nice to meet you!  Thanks for stopping by   Pull up a chair and sit!
 Well, thank you very much!

Can you tell us a bit about Hushed, what can we expect from this book?
What you can expect is a lot of dark, introspective looks into the minds of three individuals--Archer, Vivian, and Evan, and the way they push the plot forward with their actions. It has murder, redemption, psychological trauma, healing, and a little bit of romance.

This book sounds like it has a lot of nail biting action and drama to it!  The characters all sound so amazing.  Where did you get the inspiration for these characters?  Are there any celebrities who might look like them?
I’ve always pictured Elisabeth Harnois as Vivian. She’s an underrated actress, beautiful, and talented, and awesome at playing sweet and dark at the same time. Archer would be Steven R. McQueen, and Evan would be Matt Lanter. I’ve also picture LEea Heady as Archer’s mother.

Do you have any behind the scenes tidbits about Hushed that you could share with us?
Archer Pond correlates to Archer’s Pond, which is a fun little ghost story you should look up. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this in interviews before but in my very, very initial ideas for HUSHED, Evan and Vivian were both innocents who were supposed to fall in love and Archer began to get jealous. Basically, he took on the role Vivian now has. Once I began to write, the characters took on lives of their own and obviously things took a different turn.

So Kelley, what is the best thing about being an author?  And the worst?
The best is hearing that my story emotionally moved someone. I don’t even care if they hated the book: the fact that it did something to effect them so strongly that they either hated or loved it is an amazing feeling. Apathy is what I don’t want. The worst? Maybe the self-doubt and the constant thought that I’m not good enough. Alternatively, publishing goes so very slow and that drives me nuts.

Do you have any advice for anyone else who might be thinking of becoming an author?
(1) Keep writing. Don’t get caught up on edits and how crappy something is on the first draft. Alternatively, don’t assume your first draft is perfect and agents/publishers are going to jump for it just because you took the time to fix some spelling errors. I write extremely clean first drafts, and even I have plenty of work to do in edits.
(2) Don’t get caught up in one project. I see people focus on a single book so much for years...and yet they don’t write anything else. While you’re shopping one book, be writing another. If book one isn’t working then don’t feel like it’s going to waste if you set it aside. Not a lot of writers get their first book out there.

Are there any upcoming projects that you can tell us about?
Several, haha. DIRTY LONDON will probably see the light of day the soonest, and is another LGBT story about a gay girl trying to keep it a secret in her conservative school. More than anything, it’s a story about sisters and their relationship, though, so as usual with me, the romance happens around the plot and not the other way around.

Do you have a favorite character, out of all of your books, and why?
Ohh, I hate playing favorites and it’s hard to pick… Out of everything I’ve written, Noel would probably be my favorite, but that book hasn’t been published. Of the published stories, Archer is likely number one even though SUICIDE WATCH is my fave of my books.

Kelley,  if you were tv/movie villain – who would you be?
Probably one of the zombies from The Walking Dead...

Would you rather have ten million dollars or ten extra years on your life?
Hard to say. Is that ten years making a difference between 30 to 40? Or, like, 80 to 90? If it’s the latter, I would take the money.

And if you couldn’t be an author, but could have any other job in the world – what would you pick?
I’m really into psychology and I would love to pursue a career into that.

Thanks so much for chatting with me today, it was nice meeting you!
Thank you so much for having me!

Once upon a time, Kelley York was born in central California. And it's there she still resides with her lovely wife, step-daughter, and an abundance of cats, while fantasizing about moving to England or Ireland. She has a fascination with bells and animals, is a lover of video games, Doctor Who, manga and anime, and likes to pretend she’s a decent photographer. Her life goal is to find a real unicorn. Or at least write about them.

Kelley is a sucker for dark fiction. She loves writing twisted characters, tragic happenings, and bittersweet endings that leave you wondering and crying. Character development takes center stage in her books because the bounds of a person's character and the workings of their mind are limitless.

Her first book, HUSHED, was released by Entangled Publishing in December 2011. Her second and third books, HOLLOWED and SUICIDE WATCH, were released in 2012, and her next Entangled book, MADE OF STARS, is slated for October 1st, 2013. Visit Kelley via her

Controlling The Dead
Annie Walls

With the help of her new companions, the path Kansas follows leads to more knowledge of the ever adapting famished.

The team finds help in unlikely places, meeting more survivors, and discovers the possibility of a new beginning.

When the team experiences a devastating loss, Kansas struggles to keep her humanity from fading and distorting like that of the surviving society around her. It begins with knowing who to trust and who to leave behind. First, she must trust herself – she won't make the same mistakes twice.

As the answers to her questions are revealed, Kansas begins to understand the knowledge comes with a heavy price and great responsibility of controlling the dead.

In a trilogy plot thick with twists and turns, this adult dark fantasy is as emotional as it is horrifyingly gripping.

So on October 27 I did a review of this book, but I didn't think that was enough, so I cornered Annie and made her answer my questions!  So damn it, here is the interview! :)

Hey Annie!!  How the hell is it going?  Thanks for coming by and chatting with me!
Hey, Liz! Thanks for having me. You know I love being on Fictional Candy.

Ok, this tour is for the second book in The Famished Trilogy, Controlling the Dead.  What can we expect to happen in this book?
Hmmm…. A lot? LOL. I tried my BEST not to make Controlling the Dead have the “2nd Book Syndrome,” so you know I had to step up my game. I didn’t make it easy for my characters. Kan deals with the ramifications of the fallout in book one, personal and not so personal. She hordes a lot of guilt and anger over what happened. She’s less vulnerable in this book, but of course, other people are more vulnerable to her. Kan learns some unexpected things. You’ll meet several new colorful characters and discover new settings.

Kansas is one of my all time favorite characters.  Was there an actual live inspiration for her, or was she born purely of imagination?
Kan is purely imagination. She’s strong, but not overly so… she’s real. Although, Kan and Malachi were in a short story before I dropped them into a zom poc.

Now this trilogy is about ZOMBIES!!  What made you go that route?
I don’t know, really. I was watching a lot of zombie movies at the time, so I suppose that had a lot to do with it… one in particular, The Serpent and the Rainbow. Excellent book and movie.

And since zombies aren’t real – YET – how do you research something like this?
Google this: Zombie mythology. Learn all you can and then twist it up and make it your own. =)

I’m sure it would be like picking a favorite child, Annie, but I’m going to ask anyway – who is your favorite character from this trilogy?
It is like picking a favorite child. LOL! All my characters have a little bit of me in them. For an example, Glinda has my sassy humor. Kan has my stubbornness. Mac lets out my perverted side. I have to say Rudy is my fave, BECAUSE he ultimately has more of me than any other character. He’s selfish, but selfless at the same time. Reserved, but says what he needs to and when he needs to.

I know any zombie fan has an apocalypse plan.  Do you care to share any of yours with us?
No. Not really. I gave my plan to Kan. To hide out until everything blows over, but we all know how that worked out.

Annie – what’s a day in the life of Annie Walls like?
Pretty boring. LOL. I’m a mom and do mom things. ;)

Do you have any upcoming projects you could share with us?  Perhaps new books, or appearances or whatever?
Yes! I have a lot going on in the term of projects and appearances. I’ll be posting all my short stories and character stories on my site. My new series is set to release after Living with the Dead releases.
For 2014, I’ve have three events I’ll be attending. Sweet as Peach, Georgia Indie Author Event in April. UtopYA in June, and I’ll be in Seattle in June for an author event hosted by Ali from Gingerreads.

Ok, tough question – what is your favorite zombie book?  And you can’t pick your own J
I don’t have a favorite, per say. Right now, I’m not into reading zombie books at all… but I love David Wellington’s Monster Trilogy.

Well Annie, I think that’s it for now.  I think we both survived!  Do you have any parting words for the readers today?
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy living in the Famished World for a while! =D

Thanks for talking to me!!
Pssh… you know I always got time for you, Liz!

Interview & Giveaway with Lauren Grimley, author of Unbridled

Unbridled
Lauren Grimley

“Think Law and Order SUV meets The Breakfast Club” was Ellie’s trite explanation of what Alex had been dragged into. Add a few fangs, Fifty Shades of Oversharing, and a dash of Dr. Phil, and she was in for quite a Thursday night.

Alex couldn’t deny she had become the pint-sized poster child for PTSD lately, but she didn’t exactly expect to find a support group for teachers turned vampire chew toys in Bristol, MA. Listening to the tales of the four other females gathered to help her heal, however, she accepts that perhaps both the worst and the best of life can blossom from the unexpected.

Unbridled is a novella-length collection of four connected stories focusing on the unlikely friendships and less likely lovers of the female characters from the Alex Crocker series.

Proceeds from the sale of these stories are being donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and V-Day. See the author’s website for more information: www.laurengrimley.com
“Grace and Dignity”
Even a female whose mating has been arranged most of her life still thinks about what she wants in a mate. Not one of the qualities Sarah had hoped for were easily evident in her betrothed, the future Regan of the Rectinatti coven. Perhaps, though, there were more layers to Darian than he liked to reveal, but how does a subject unmask a prince?

“Rules and Recollections”
You can’t fall in love with someone you barely recall, but that, Vivian supposed, was the point. After a terse meeting with the Knower, a mind reader, memory manipulator, and the coven’s most notorious lecher, Vivian isn’t herself. She can’t shake the feeling that the solution to her mood lurks just below the surface of her consciousness. Only plunging into darkness, though, will bring everything to light.

“Blood and Secrecy”
The shared need for blood brought them together, but individual desires for secrecy are keeping them apart. Each already left behind a life of privilege for reasons the other likely couldn’t understand. Now both Rocky and Ellie need to decide if they’re willing to open up about their pasts in order to ensure a future.

Interview

Hey Lauren! Come on in and sit down for a bit! Thanks for meeting with me today!

So we are here to talk about Romance For A Reason. Can you tell us a bit about it?

Sure. Romance for a Reason started as a whim sometime last fall when I was first drafting Unbridled. I realized I was writing about women (or female vampires, but close enough) who had almost all been victims of violence, so I thought perhaps when the time came to publish I could donate some proceeds to charities that worked to help such women. Then as I was finishing the draft my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. One of the worst things about such a diagnoses is the feeling of not being able to help. It wasn’t my body and I wasn’t a doctor, so what could I do? Last time I raised money and ran a triathlon; it gave me a sense of purpose. My knees weren’t feeling that this time. But here I was sitting on a story about strong, courageous women. I knew then I wanted to combine these efforts. Less than a year later I had a completed book ready to publish, two great charities chosen, and some ideas for related posts on strong females in fiction—that became Romance for a Reason. Did I mention I also had Mom cancer-free again and by my side cheering me on? *All smiles!*

That is excellent news!  I'm so glad to hear it!  Can you tell us about Unbridled?

Unbridled has probably been my favorite work to write so far. It’s a collection of connected short stories from my Alex Crocker series focusing on the romantic tales of three of the other couples. I’m a backstory junkie, so getting the opportunity to tell the stories of some of my favorite characters and how they met their lovers was exciting. Then when I started to put it together with a fourth tale about the various difficulties the females in the series faced, I realized I had something unique. It’s not technically a novella (the word count is just shy of a novel), but it’s certainly not just a collection of separate short stories, either. But it works, I think, because it is different, yet has something to offer most readers. It’s paranormal, without focusing too much on the fantasy. It’s set in contemporary times, but has two historical stories within. It’s romance, but it’s also a tale of friendships. It’s part steamy, but humorous, part dark—and one hundred percent about kick-ass females!

How about the rest of the Alex Crocker series?

Unforeseen and Unveiled, the first two books in the series, are definitely more urban fantasy, although with a strong paranormal romance subplot. They focus on Alex, a twenty-five-year-old, who is literally dragged into a world hidden within her own. She learns she’s a Seer, a walking emotion detector and, more dangerously, manipulator. For this so-called ‘gift’ she’s being hunted by a rogue coven of vampires, the Vengatti, who’d love to use her or kill her, depending on the day. The Rectinatti coven, who refrain from snacking on humans (or Seers) are willing to help keep her alive, but, of course, they have their own agenda, which doesn’t always agree with Alex’s sense of right and wrong. Her struggles with her new life, love, and power make up the plot of the first two works.

Lauren, how come these charities?

I did my homework. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is one of the highest ranked charities in the country, currently spending 91 cents of every dollar collected directly on research and awareness. This money goes to fund a variety of studies at top research universities across the globe, and recently they’ve also expanded to helping support awareness and prevention programs, which are key to increasing survival rates. Like the BCRF, V-Day is also a highly-rated charity, which uses 86 cents of each dollar donated to directly end violence against women. It also balances global programs in countries where women have few rights and fewer advocates, with funding and leadership programs that create and sustain local charities and support groups. As an author, I was also drawn to V-Day because they believe as I do, that “Art has the power to transform thinking and inspire people to act.” V-Day began with Eve Ensler’s play The Vagina Monolgues, and her realization that her art not only had the potential to give women a voice, but also to act as a platform for social change. From one playwright’s pen sprang forth a movement that has aided thousands of women world-wide. How could I not choose this charity?

I think they sound like awesome choices, I'm glad you are bringing them to light here today!
What is the best thing about being an author?

When someone tells you that your book kept her up at night. I definitely judge a book by whether it can make me break me self-imposed 9pm bedtime (I’m a teacher, so I have an excuse), so to hear that someone else got so lost in a world I created means a lot.

The dress code’s pretty sweet, too. If it weren’t for teaching, I wouldn’t own anything but jeans and hoodies!

If there was one message or feeling you wanted readers to get from your books, what would that be?

I’d like to say I knew the answer to this when I set out to write my books, but I didn’t. For me, anyways, the characters came first, then the story. It wasn’t until I was completely done that I realized I’d worked in a few themes. I think given the whole focus for Romance for a Reason, the one that’s most important to me is that real strength comes from being true to yourself, no matter your age, size, strength, or gender, and that bad things can effect even the strongest of people but it doesn’t make them any less fierce. You can be victimized, without forever becoming a victim.

Time for some fun stuff?
Good, things were getting deep there for a minute!

If you had to be a cartoon villain, who would you be and why?

Um. Confession: I never watched too many cartoons growing up, or if I did they’ve slipped my mind. As far as other fictional villains go, though, I’d have to pick Captain Hook. Every version I’ve ever seen of him I’ve fallen for. I guess I appreciate his willingness to admit he’s a sleaze. Besides, I could totally see myself at the helm of a pirate ship, in a fancy coat, captaining a crew of petty criminals and misfits—it actually sounds a lot like teaching middle school, and I’m pretty decent at that!

What is your favorite type of candy?
Cadbury Crème eggs, for sure. What’s not to love about all that goo? And they now have them out for Halloween, which means I get my fix twice a year!
If there was one book out there you would recommend - not your own - what would it be?
One book is really tough, because I’m tempted to give a classic, but that’d be haughty and hypocritical from someone who rarely reads classics for enjoyment. So I’m going to list a new contemporary find of mine that’s great for book club discussions and a fantastic model for writers attempting to write from a first-person, adult male’s perspective: Defending Jacob by William Landay.

And if you were stuck on an island, which author (dead or alive) would you like to be stuck with?
J. K. Rowling. In addition to having a tremendous imagination (which very well could save us), she just seems like a genuinely nice person. Besides if she were trapped with me, she’d be forced to answer at least some of my burning HP questions—and I could thank her for turning me on to my favorite genre of reading and writing!
Thanks so much for sitting with me today, Lauren! It was great getting to know you :)

The reason: Cancer and violence suck (and not at all in that sexy vampire way)
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, two issues close to my heart. As a daughter of a two-time breast cancer survivor and the teacher, friend, and aunt to so many beautiful and strong women who I never want to see suffer, I chose to use the release of Unbridled to help support two terrific charities that help women.

Romance for a Reason is enabling me to use my tales of strong heroines, fanged though they are, as a fundraiser for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and V-Day. I’ll be donating the proceeds from the collection to these charities, and hopefully, through bringing these issues to readers’ attention, can also inspire others to reach out in their own ways. Women facing illness or abuse can feel like they’ve had not just their health, strength, and beauty sucked from them, but also their essence, their spirit. It’s time we bite back and fight back—for me that fight started with a pen and some fangs. How will you help?

How you can bite back:
Read some romance. Proceeds from Unbridled will be donated to the two charities listed here.

Donate. Make your own individual donation to these two charities or choose a local charity supporting these and other causes affecting women in your area. To learn more about each charity and my reasons for choosing them, visit the Romance for a Reason page. Or click through to donate directly.

Party hard. Gather the women (and men!) of your book club or just a group of friends for a Romance for Reason party. Party ideas? Check out my blog for ideas on how to plan your gathering. Then download the Romance Reading Questionnaire and/or the Body Lingo Bingo for some fun party activities!

Share. Tweet, status update, review, or just chat with friends about the books, the tour, and the charities (mine or yours)!
