Perfectly Imperfect by Harper Sloan (Review & Giveaway)

Title: Perfectly Imperfect
Series: Standalone
Author: Harper Sloan
Released: November 17, 2015
Format: Ebook received for review
Pages: 408 per Goodreads

Mirror, mirror … who’s the fairest of them all?

I still cringe when I hear that line. A fairy tale that had girls pretendingthey were the fairest, the most beautiful, and the most entitled. A fairy tale most couldn’t grow out of turned my haunted childhood memories into a living nightmare. Girls who grew up believing that pile of garbage became the meanest of all ‘mean girls.’

And those mean girls were right – it was a line meant for all the beautiful people in the world – and I knew the answer would never be me.

The women with long legs, flat stomachs, and perfect chests.

The type of women Kane Masters gravitated toward.

Well, that’s definitely not Willow Tate.

No. That will never be me.

Because I’m completely imperfect.

And … I hate myself.

I have no idea what Kane could possibly see in someone like me when he could have them.

While I ultimately enjoyed this book, there are parts that I had mixed feelings about.

Reaper's Fall by Joanna Wylde (Review)

Title: Reaper's Fall
Series: Reapers MC #5
Author: Joanna Wylde
Released: November 10, 2015 - Berkley
Format: Galley
Pages: 384 per Goodreads

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

Oh Reapers Reapers... I love you guys!  This is definitely my favorite MC out there, and Joanna Wylde is an amazing author for bringing them to life, book after book.  Reaper's Fall is all about Painter and Melanie, and it's a definite ride!

Tough Enough by M Leighton (Review)

Title: Tough Enough
Series: Tall, Dark and Dangerous #2
Author: M Leighton
Released: November 3, 2015 - Berkley
Format: EGalley
Pages: 336 per Goodreads

He’s a fighter who never loses, but is he tough enough to win her heart?

There was a time when I had everything–a wonderful family, a bright future. Love. But all that was taken away in a single night, torn from me like flesh from bone. Since then, I’ve hidden away in my second-choice job as a makeup artist. But I prefer it that way, actually. I’m comfortable in the shadows, where no one can see my scars.

Kiefer Rogan literally took my breath away the moment I met him. MMA champion-turned-actor, notorious playboy, charming to a fault—he’s everything I vowed to avoid.

But he just wouldn’t stop until I opened up and let him in. Maybe I should’ve tried harder to resist him. Maybe I shouldn’t have fallen in love with him. Because I, of all people, know that everyone has secrets. Scars. And that they’re usually ugly and painful and destructive to the people we love most.

I just never guessed that they could be deadly, too.

Where Strong Enough was a brute force hit full of excitement, Tough Enough travels more on the emotional side and deals with some very sensitive subjects.  Tough Enough has cemented that this is a series to watch.  M Leighton smashes it again.

Crave by JC Emery (Review)

Title: Crave
Series: Bayonet Scars #5.5
Author: JC Emery
Released: November 1, 2015 - Left Break Press
Pages: 79 Pages per Amazon
Format: Ebook received for review

SHE’S HEARTBROKEN. HE’S A HEART-BREAKER.

Elle Phillips’s relationship with the Forsaken Motorcycle Club is strained, much like the relationship she had with her father, a Forsaken brother, before he died. The only piece of Forsaken that Elle wants to hold onto is their sergeant-at-arms and her former lover, Sterling “Bloody Knuckles” Grady. Unfortunately, Grady’s moved on and he doesn’t seem to be coming back. With her heart hurting over one man who’s died and another who’s practically dead to her, Elle throws herself into her work as a private investigator and tries to keep a low profile where the club’s concerned. But when a case comes along that she can’t refuse, she finds herself embroiled in club business in a way that leaves her questioning everything she thought she knew about Forsaken.

Diesel knows that keeping tabs on Elle Phillips is going to bring him trouble. He already loves her even though he barely knows her, but when Grady asks Diesel to keep her safe, he can’t say no. His patience has run out and he’s going to do anything to get Elle to realize he’s the man she’s been craving— even going behind the club’s back to help her solve a case she shouldn’t be working.

Real love is always the cure.

I love the Forsaken MC!  I know I have said it before haha.  JC Emery really has developed a terrific series here, with characters that I really care about.  I think that is quite an accomplishment, to create something that the readers (and definitely not just me!) connect with.

Resplendent Ruin by Bella J (Review)

Title: Resplendent Ruin
Series: Resplendence #1
Author: Bella J
Released: November 16, 2015 - Liquid Silver Books
Pages: 182 per Goodreads
Format: Ebook received for review

Juliette Mason had it all—the perfect job, the perfect home, the perfect fiancĂ©. She lived the perfect life. Until everything started to slowly fall apart.

Daniel, her attractive and success-driven fiancĂ©, was the love of her life. For years she wanted nothing more than to finally walk down the aisle, to be Mrs. Daniel Clarke. But as time went by, the cracks in their relationship started to come to the surface, and Juliette found herself in a place she never imagined she would be. It was a place where she started to question everything about her life and her dreams, a place where nothing about her life made sense anymore—a place where she found Knox Taylor.

Knox didn’t count on falling in love. In fact, Knox didn’t count on anything really. He was blissfully happy living a fast life of reckless behavior, impulsive decisions, and beautiful women. He lived the perfect life of a flourishing bachelor—but then she happened.

Well, this was certainly an interesting book.  The issue of fidelity wouldn't be for everyone, and things like that are probably known ahead of time.  I know a lot of people who won't even pick up a book if it contains infidelity.  Aside from that, I found this to be a pretty good "enemies to lovers" type romance.

Strong Enough by M Leighton (Review)

Title: Strong Enough
Series: Tall, Dark, and Dangerous #1
Author: M Leighton
Released: August 2015, Berkley NAL
Format: EGalley
Pages: 304 per Goodreads

Is she strong enough to trust the most dangerous man she’s ever met? And is he strong enough to let her?

How would I describe myself? Well, I’m Muse Harper. I’m a twenty-something painter who loves red wine, quirky movies, and men with a fatal flaw. But that was before I met Jasper King. He became my fatal flaw. Eight months ago, I had a choice to make—abandon everything I’ve ever known to protect my family, or stay and risk someone getting hurt. I chose the former. My plan was working just fine until I found out my father had gone missing.

That’s when I met Jasper. A bounty hunter with the eyes of a tiger and the nose of a bloodhound, he was supposed to help me find my father. What I didn’t know was that meeting him was no accident. Hunting people isn’t all that Jasper does. And helping me was only part of his plan. I just wish I’d found out sooner, before my heart got involved. But even then, I don’t know if I’d have done things differently.

Now, I have another choice to make—trust the man that I’m falling in love with and hope that he’ll do the right thing, or run as far away from him as I can get.

Any time I start a new series, I have a bit of fear.  A panic rush.  What if it isn't great?  Well, with M Leighton, that has never been a problem.  Leighton continues her fantastic writing with Strong Enough, starting off the Tall, Dark, and Dangerous series.  I was instantly enveloped in the story, and her writing is, once again, spot on.
