Review: Doe & The Wolf by Eve Langlais

Title: Doe & The Wolf
Series: FUC # 5
Author: Eve Langlais
Published: November 2013
Format: Ebook provided for review

What happens when a predator falls for his prey?

Bounty hunting is the perfect job for a maverick wolf; flexible hours, decent pay, the thrill of the chase. But Everett never counted on a doe stopping him in his furry tracks.

Dawn was a prisoner of Mastermind and ended up experimented on, against her wishes. On the run from Furry United Coalition agents, she ends up in the arms—and bed—of a lupine bounty hunter. Instinct tells her to run when she gets a chance because everyone knows not to trust the big, bad wolf, but her heart begs her to stay.

When the result of genetics gone wrong rears its mutated head and threatens both of their lives, will they manage to survive and discover if a wolf deserves a happily ever after?

I’ve never read a book from Eve Langlais that I didn’t absolutely adore. I’ve read several, from several series. She is consistently a terrific author. I’ve not experienced a “hit and miss” type of read from her. I think that says tons about an author’s capacity to keep her audience entertained. So that brings me to Doe & The Wolf, which is number five in the FUC series. And yes, I loved it. Why?

Well, first there is Dawn, a doe shifter. First of all, I love unusual shifters – and Eve definitely includes them in many of her shifter books. Dawn is just like a doe. She’s dainty and a bit timid, even her coloring and features resembles an actual doe. She was among the unfortunate to be captured by Mastermind, although she was “rescued” before too much harm came to her. Too much. Dawn appealed to me on many levels. Against her timid and deer-like nature, she has separated from her herd and is taking on the world by herself, as she is on the run from FUC, who has claimed her to be a wanted fugutive. She’s really rather fearless, and that is a quality I definitely admire in my heroines.

Then there is her love interest, Everett. At first I wasn’t sure I’d like him… I mean, he has big ol’ sideburns a la Wolverine. Ok, yes, a bit superficial of me. Everett is a wolf, and he turns out to be quite the witty, caring, and protective Alpha. So yeah, it didn’t take long for him to win me over. And his nickname for Dawn is “little doe”. I’m not sure why, but for some reason that just made me melt every time he said it. Everett is funny and has quite the smart ass humor, it was great reading all his cracks and quips. Everett used to work for FUC, but now he is a bounty hunter…hired by FUC. Awooo!

There are also other great characters in this book, like Tom – a sloth. Oh yeah, I love them unusual shifters, baby! And I actually cheered out loud when I saw a reappearance of Miranda and Chase from Bunny & The Bear, the first FUC book (and one of my absolute favorites!). And let’s not forget the villain in this book, Joey. Joey is definitely something else, that’s for sure. But it’s great, because even in her villains, Eve has not lost her sense of humor. Let’s just say I got quite a chuckle out of aluminum foil…

Doe & The Deer had tons of action! I mean seriously, Dawn is on the run and Everett is a bounty hunter. Wolf and Doe. Opposites attract in the most magnetic of ways in this book. Their interactions together cracked me up time and time again. And if you are looking for some steamy love between the sheets, there’s even some of that.

You could read this book as a standalone. I’ve read other books in the FUC series, but not all of them. I didn’t feel lost, only sad that I hadn’t gotten to the others yet! Each page in this book had me eager for the next, and I suspect you will be just as excited as I was. So run, don’t walk – and pick up this book now! Or you know, you could just click :)

Review: Bad Kitty by Eliza Gayle

Title: Bad Kitty
Series: Southern Shifters #1
Author: Eliza Gayle
Published: Sept 10, Gypsy Ink Books
Format: NetGalley

If you think you've lost everything. Think again.

Kitty lost her father, her home and her clan. Clinging to what's left of her pride, she's forced into the neutral zone, the supposed safe haven for half-breeds and outcasts. An attack forces her to the wrong side of the treaty line and into an even more dangerous situation. Determined to greet death with the last of her dignity, she is suddenly rescued by a tall, gorgeous...wolf???

As the next alpha leader of his pack, Rafe Comyn has more than enough to handle with pack politics and precarious treaties. The last thing he needs is a pissed off feline landing in his lap, especially when her scent triggers his overwhelming drive to mate. While the daughter of a former rival is quite a conquest, she's both forbidden and dangerous.

But as the heat of desire threatens to consume them, their differences escalate and Rafe must keep his own pack from killing the one woman he can't live without.

Here Kitty Kitty.... Sorry, couldn't resist.

Bad Kitty by Eliza Gayle, it's not a bad read.  Kitty is a cougar shifter, which is very awesome in and of itself. The story starts with her arriving in the neutral zone. You get bits and pieces of why, but not really as much information as I would like.  It kind of felt like Bad Kitty should either have a prequel novella, or possibly even be book two in the series.  It seems Kitty also almost had a relationship with a cougar named Kane that I felt could have been explored more.  At this point, it felt like it was added just for the heck of it.

She'd learned a hard lesson that begging a man for his love and affection was what weak women did and she refused to be that woman anymore.  When it came to her currently non-existent or future love life, she had no more tricks up her sleeves or any devious plans to get what she wanted.

So like I said, Kitty is banned to the neutral zone (for reasons I will not spoil), between cougar territory and wolf territory.  When she gets to her new home, she quickly realizes she is not alone.  A quick and action packed series of events forces her to run, and unknowingly run into wolf territory.  That bit of action I did find to be very exciting and drama packed.  But again, I would have liked to meet these other people before this scene happened, just so it didn't feel so out of the blue.

While in the new territory Kitty meets Rafe.  This was played out in an intriguing way, but it also really drew your attention to Rafe.  I felt like right off the bat he could be trusted, and I knew Kitty would be safe with him.  Initially while Kitty is with Rafe very little happens.  You discover exactly what Rafe thinks of Kitty, and then that evolves.  The evolution of their relationship is quite quick and very interesting.  But hey, they are shifters, and things tend to happen quickly for them.

I found the main characters to both be very pleasing, but my favorite was Kitty.  This alone was awesome for me, because I usually love the man more.  But in this book I found Kitty to be this bad-ass cougar who is just coming into her own.  She's a wildcat in more ways than one, and I loved watching her self-awakening.

For a few long seconds he stared at her as if he saw straight through her.  The vulnerability that look created threatened to overwhelm her.  She wanted to blink or look away, but found it impossible to break eye contact.  For a moment she forgot about the pain, the differences of their species and the fact she needed to get away.  She focused only on the foreign sensation of being mesmerized.  Her head and body betrayed her with a sharp longing for more of the man sitting in front of her who'd awakened something inside her with a simple touch to her cheek.

There is certainly a lot of drama, especially since wolves and cougars aren't normally friendly.  There were a few action scenes, which I love.  It really lent itself to the "wild animal" feel.  However, there were several aspects which I just felt were out of place (like the previous almost-relationship of Kitty's, for instance).  There were also some issues I would have liked to see a better explanation of- like some of the pack dynamics within Rafe's pack.

All in all, I enjoyed Bad Kitty.  To be honest, I was expecting something a little different, and some parts of the book were a bit predictable, but it was still an enjoyable story.  If you enjoy books like the Preternaturals series by Zoe Winters, or really any shifter romance, I think you will enjoy this book.  As for me, I'll check out the rest of the series when it's released, but it probably won't be at the top of my list.

Review: Melody's Wolf by Mina Carter

Title: Melody's Wolf
Series: Lyric Hounds #1, 1Night Stand #170
Author: Mina Carter
Published: May 2013, Decadent Publishing
Format: ebook provided for review

Melody's love life is in a bit of a dry spell...for the last two years. Content tracking down archaeological evidence of werewolf packs, she spends her time wearing wellingtons and covered in mud rather than looking for a date. Knowing her worried brother isn’t above arranging a kidnapping to get her to go on a date, she agrees to a match with 1Night Stand, figuring Madame Eve has to be a better matchmaker than her beloved brother.

Money, fame, looks—rock star and werewolf Aaron Rixx has it all, except the one thing that truly matters...love. Yearning for a woman to see him for who he is, he lets Madame Eve make all the arrangements. No matter where he goes, as the lead singer of the world famous band, Lyric Hounds, he's always recognized...so all he expects is a night of hot sex and a quiet weekend with his music.

He never anticipates Madame Eve might find the one woman on the planet who doesn't recognise him on sight...or the one he and his wolf identify instantly as their mate. Will one night be enough for him to convince Melody she's his forever?

“Chance meeting. You never know.”

This is what Melody’s brother told her after he informed her that he has set her up with 1Night Stand since her love life has been as dry as her archaeological digs. Welcome to Melody’s Wolf.

I’ve read a couple of 1Night Stand books, and I find them to be a quick and enjoyable read overall. I wasn’t let down with Melody’s Wolf by Mina Carter. Ok, first, let’s get it out of the way – the cover, OMG, the cover. Like who the hell is that model and where can I get to see more of him??? I mean, I’m drooling so much over here, I’m a bit worried about my keyboard….*wipe*

Now the story! Melody’s brother sets her up, like I said previously. A little weird? Ehhh, I don’t know. I like to think if I needed help in the romance department, one of my brothers would take some initiative. Maybe not set me up on a sexual date like Barr did for Melody, but hey, this world Mina Carter created also has werewolves living out in society (not in secret like they do now, shhhh)

“He’d expected sex. Instead Madame Eve provided his mate.”

The man Melody gets set up with is Aaron Rixx, lead singer of the band Lyric Hounds. That’s the guy on the cover. Uh-huh. Nice! But more than that, his actual character is as genuine as you would hope. He seems like a real honest guy. So when him and Melody meet up for their date, there are some definite fireworks.

“She held his gaze, feeling eveyrhing. Every hard plane of muscle. The thick length of his arousal pressed against her soft belly. He was going to fuck her. Fill her again and again with that deliciously hard cock, every inch of it. A shiver rolled from head to toes. She couldn’t wait.”

I really enjoyed the story. The heat was at a nice comfortable level, and the location was pretty awesome. The chemistry between Melody and Aaron was through the roof, for sure. Madame Eve is one crafty lady, once again creating the perfect couple in this book. This was my first Mina Carter book, and I found her writing to be smooth and easy to follow. I will definitely be picking up more of her titles in the future to read!

Bite Size Review: Alice's Alpha by Ann Gimpel

Title: Alice's Alpha
Series: Wolf Clan Shifters Book 1
Author: Ann Gimpel
Published: July 2013, Liquid Silver Books
Format: Ebook provided for review

It’s 1936. Thirty-year-old Alice has almost given up finding a man. Between civil engineering and mountain climbing, her interests are so masculine she scares men away. A poor route choice lands her next to horror movie star Lon Chaney’s cabin deep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She’s wary when Jed, a strikingly handsome man, offers her shelter.

By the time she discovers he’s clan leader for a pack of wolf shifters, she’s in way too deep to back out. Her carefully tended wasteland of a heart cracks wide open and all her preconceived notions shatter. Snared by the mate bond, Alice discovers passion hot enough to change her forever. She’s just getting used to Jed when his lieutenants show up, and she discovers she’s mated to all three.

***Bite Size Review***

It's 1936 and Alice is a forward thinking woman.  She wouldn't be content to sit home and be a wife, she wants to see, to learn, to do.  This is something I find myself liking about her.  One day, while mountain climbing with her best friend, Brent, he suddenly has to leave without reason.  He tells her to quickly find her way to the car and lock herself in.  Seriously, what?  This just seemed very... unlikely. First of all, he supposedly is her best friend, but he's leaving her on the side of the mountain.  And secondly, she doesn't flip out on him?  I repeat, seriously.... what? And then she runs into a man at Lon Chaney's cabin.  His name is Jed, and I did find myself liking him quite a bit. He was definitely the Alpha of the wolves, and acted it.

Review: New Year's Kiss by Tielle St Clare

Title: New Year's Kiss
Series: Wolf's Heritage #1
Author: Tielle St Clare
Published: 2011, Ellora's Cave
Format: Personal Purchase

All Taylor expects out of New Year's Eve is a hangover and a kiss at midnight. When her boyfriend dumps her a week before the holiday, she turns to her friends Mikhel and Zach for comfort, never expecting more than a fun evening and peck on the cheek as the New Year begins. But as the night progresses, Mikhel and Zach seem different, almost animalistic. Definitely dangerous. And her friends are acting more like lovers. Acting like they both want her.She knows that the time will come when she has to choose between the two men. When Mikhel offers the option of her taking both men as her lovers, Taylor doesn't know what to do. One thing for sure, no matter what she decides, it's going to be a wild ride.

I got this book on Amazon, and  I wrote in my notes that it was a personal pick, so that means I purchased it.  Anyhow, after reading this book – and this is my first from this author – I am definitely going to read more from her.  This book was some of the hottest heat I’ve read in a while.  It was ridiculous how hot this was!  And like the blurb says, there is a bit of m/m action going on.  If that is something you aren’t into, I would still give this book a try because that part is not a very large part at all.

Ok, the story.  This story starts with Mikhel, a werewolf.  Mikhel is the son of an Alpha, and he definitely has Alpha in his future.  He doesn’t get along great with his father, so he leaves at the suggestion of Byron, his father’s right hand man.  Zach is Mikhel’s best friend in the world, and he goes with him.  That’s what friends are for! So off they go.  No pack, no pack law, just freedom.

Present day they own a computer shop and a coffee shop.  They have a friend, Taylor, who just broke up with her boyfriend.  This guy is a total dirtbag.  They had New Year’s Eve plans, and now Taylor is sad that she can’t go.  On top of that, that dirtbag asked her for her tickets to the party so he could take someone else!!  Dirtstar!!

Mikhel and Zach offer one of them to take her.  She can’t make up her mind which one to go with, she’s attracted to both.  Mikhel is obviously strong and a take control type of guy, while Zach is smooth and a bit more sensitive.  Both have their charms and she is attracted to both.  Oh yeah, and she has no clue they are werewolves.

“Taylor felt like she was getting a small view of how these two men handled the world.  Zach laughed at it, Mikhel stared it down and dared it to contradict him.”

Oh my goodness, you have to read this story!!  Ok, so Taylor can’t make the decision and so the guys decide.  They both go with her.

Ok, the New Year’s Eve party is beyond HOT.  Zach dances with her, Mikhel teases her.  By the end of the night the three of them are beyond hot and ready to go.  Luckily the party is in a hotel, hint hint.  Upstairs they go….. I’ll leave that part to you.

But after the party is over, after the sun comes up, there is a whole new slew of issues to deal with.  They just had one of the hottest threesomes ever.  No one wants it to end.  But how do you deal with a human, an Alpha werewolf with no pack, and a beta wolf who wants the girl just as much as the Alpha?  Let me tell you, the rest of the story does not disappoint.  It was just sex sex sex, although trust me – there was more than enough of that to go around.  There was an actual story here, the power struggle going in so many directions.  It was intoxicating, and I can not wait to read more.  If you want to read some ménage werewolf shifter erotica that will knock your socks off, I definitely recommend this story.

Review: King of Prey by Mandy M Roth

Title: King of Prey
Series: Talons - #1
Author: Mandy M Roth
Published: 2006
Format: Ebook provided by author for review

In a place where realms combine and portals open passages to the unknown, a prophecy speaks of fertility being restored to his people through the taking of King Kabril's mate.

The prophecy neglects to mention she lacks something vital to his kind--wings. Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis has no interest in taking a human mate. His kind believes humans are dirty, vile creatures who rely on machines to lift them into the air. The last place he wants to go in search of his mate is Earth, but he's left no choice.

Never did he expect to find love on a planet with one moon, people who lack wings and a stubborn vixen who makes his heart soar. When he does, he fears the truth about who and what he truly is will steal it away. Little does he know his enemies fully intend on doing the taking.

I haven’t read too many bird shifter books.  This is definitely one to add to your library!  The shifters in this book don’t turn into tiny little birds, oh no, they are larger than life huge birds of prey.  And Kabril, he is the King.

King Kabril must take a wife in order for the mating magik to begin, and for the people of his kingdom to once again have children.  It is his duty.  Sachin, his friend and right hand man, tells him that he must woo an earth woman to fulfill the prophecy.  This doesn’t sit well with Kabril because humans are generally looked down upon.  But as King, his life is not necessarily his own and his kingdom is counting on him.  So he goes to earth, where he meets Rayna.

Rayna is an animal photographer, which seems to good to be true.  Kabril’s cover story is that he is an avian veterinary.  Very clever, Kabril! Right away there is some really great sparks between them, and their scenes together are an absolute joy.  But Kabril believes Rayna is not the woman of the prophecy, so he keeps his distance.  And Rayna keeps her distance because she’s a bit nervous and likes Sachin and Kabril so much – they become fast friends.  But Sachin, he knows more than he is letting on and he is very effectively pulling the strings on this whole scenario.

One thing I can say about Mandy Roth and her writing, she is really fantastic at creating these new worlds for her characters to live in.  Not only do you connect with her characters very easily, but their world feels so natural you feel like you are there.  Kabril and his people don’t live on Earth, although they are able to travel here at their leisure through portals.  Their world is fantastic and full of different types of bird shifters.  I’ve read several of her books now and she really has a knack for combining the paranormal/supernatural element with the human elements, and on top of that she can add sci-fi so well that it is all a seamless blend.  If you haven’t read her work before, I highly recommend you get started in doing so.

King of Prey does not disappoint on the action aspect either.  There are battles and torture, the stuff that really ups the ante on the drama.  But there are also skin tingling sensual moments that are definitely not to be missed.  Ms. Roth is so good as describing the world around her characters, I could definitely vision some fantastic fan art coming from this.  In particular there is a water scene in this story that I think would be gorgeous in a painting!

King of Prey is the first book in the Talons series.  There are also two more books out.  The second focuses on Sachin, and the third puts its attention on Prince Aeson. I am definitely checking those out in the very near future!

Review, Blaze of Glory by Mandy M Roth, Rory Michaels

Title: Blaze of Glory (Cowboys and Supernaturals #1)
Author: Rory Michaels
Published: September 2011, Raven Books
Format: Ebook provided by author for review

Sheriff Jonathan MacSweeny is in charge of keeping the peace in Prospect Springs. Frontier living isn’t what it used to be. It’s hard to survive in the New Old West and it’s even harder when your area doesn’t exactly embrace supernaturals—and you howl at the moon. That being said, he’s good at his job and has a reputation with the ladies. When he learns his childhood sweetheart is to be married off to the town sleazebag, he goes in guns blazing to see to it she’s his. Problem is, Molly isn’t the same girl he remembers from ten years prior. Now she’s a gun-toting, foul-mouthed, vixen with a badge of her own.

Special Marshal Molly Cogan never planned to set foot back in Prospect Springs. When her friend gets the harebrained idea to steal her identity in an attempt to protect her from the bounty the outlaws have on her head, Molly finds herself standing right smack dab in the middle of chaos—or home in her case. It isn’t long before Jonathan is there, flashing that famous MacSweeny boy smile and tempting her in ways she wasn’t prepared for. This heart-hardened Marshal has her work cut out for her if she plans to face her past fears and her past sweetheart.

First of all, let’s point out that cover.  Holy cowboys, that is definitely one of the most beautiful cowboys I’ve ever laid eyes on!  Let’s all take a moment to wipe up our drool….

Whew, ok, that’s settled.  The year is 2807, the place is Prospect Springs.  Jonathan MacSweeny (Jon), is the Sheriff.  Jon is just now realizing how much he has loved a certain girl, Molly, since he was a teen.   He intends to get her back.  The old ways of the 1800’s have become the news ways of the future.  Women are commodities, but pack law supercedes human law.

Molly’s father has just promised her to a real pig of a man, Gerald.  Yep, I do mean arranged marriage.  Nevermind the fact that this pig raped her as a teen.  Well, Molly is not a little girl anymore.  She’s all grown up, and a lot more clever – and now she has guns.  She has a stand in, in her friend Lynette.  This little presentation in town is going to be a sight to behold, for sure.

Right away Jon knows Lynette isn’t Molly, but not having seen Molly in years, he’s not sure exactly who this mystery woman is.  But he can smell Molly in the air.  Smell?  Oh yeah, you guessed it.  Shifter!!!!!

This story was relatively short.  But Mandy M Roth certainly knows how to write a story.  (A little sidenote for those who weren’t aware – Rory Michaels and Mandy Roth are the same person!)  This story really had it all.  There were shifters galore, a bit of magik, some outlaws and glorious cowboys, and it all takes place in the future!  The sci-fi aspect was certainly a fun addition to this story.   Prospect Springs is definitely an interesting place that I’d love to see!

As far as Jon and Molly are concerned, their relationship and reunion is strained, at best.  Years of misinformation, and some stubborn heads on both of their shoulders definitely sets the scene for some hilarious and dramatic confrontations.  And lets not forget the steamy heat!  While this story was not overflowing with sex scenes, you definitely get a taste.  But most important, Jon and Molly have always loved each other and you can really see that in everything they do.

Something else that’s awesome – this book is part of a series!  Next up is Parker’s Honor, where we get to see a bit more of Jon’s brother, Parker.  And trust me,  you will definitely want to see more of him!  I know I am definitely continue on with this series, and I hope you join in on it too.

Sometimes honor comes with a price. Sometimes it comes with love...

Doctor Parker MacSweeny treats the folks of Prospect Springs. He's well respected, has a reputation as being a fine doctor and tends to anyone who crosses his threshold--even if they aren't in good standing with the law. He's lived an adventurous life, bedding lots of ladies, never thinking of settling down with just one. He's been content with his practice and going several towns over to take advantage of the brothels there. He doesn't like mixing business and pleasure.

When a woman comes to town masquerading as someone from Parker's past, everything changes. She's not who she first claims to be--hell, she's not even who she says she is next. The beautiful, strong, amazingly talented woman gets his thoughts all jumbled and his groin hard. She's more than she appears to be and he damn well plans on uncovering all her secrets and then getting her to accept his claim. One proves easier than the other.

Warning: This novella contains strong language and shape shifting cowboys who will melt your socks off. This novella also has explicit, graphic sexual content and is not for the faint of heart.

Review/Giveaway - Delicate Freakn' Flower by Eve Langlais

Title: Delicate Freakn' Flower (Freakn' Shifters #1)
Author: Eve Langlais
Published: 2011, Self Published

Dammit, just how many toes was she going to have to stomp on before people realized she was a Delicate Freakn’ Flower?

Naomi doesn’t want to follow tradition and settle down with a violence-loving, chest thumping shapeshifter. She grew up in a household with five, testosterone laden brothers where none of the dishes ever matched, the ugly-as-sin furniture could withstand any catastrophe, and where crazy glue was bought by the case.

When fate—with a snicker—makes her meet not one, but two mates, Naomi digs her heels in and refuses to do what her wolf—and her body—demands. No way is she voluntarily allowing herself to get hitched to a pair of dumbass—totally hot and muscled—lacrosse players.

Can Ethan, the towering Kodiak bear, and Javier, the sexy, tanned jaguar convince this she-wolf that life with them won’t be all chaos? And can this delicate freakn’ flower unbend her prejudices enough to recognize she needs a pair of men who can handle her thorns—and her passion?

Warning: this is a hot threesome story where all the focus is on her with pleasurable consequences.

When a book by Eve Langlais starts off with the first line of  “He’s a freakn’ beast”   you know you are in for one hell of a time.  This story was inventive, unique and a LOT of fun to read.  Definitely one of those “can’t put it down” books!

We start off with Naomi at a lacrosse game with her friend, Francine (who you see sparingly in this book, but will see much more of in the next book in the series, Jealous and Freakn’).  Naomi isn’t the kind of girl who likes these brutal displays of aggression and violence, even if it is in the name of sport; even more so when it is in her day-to-day life.  Naomi is a wolf shifter, the youngest of six in her family.  The other five?  All brothers.  That means a lot of testosterone and broken furniture.  Naomi is an accountant.  She just wants a normal life.  And yep, she has a wickedly snarky tongue to accompany her brazen attitude toward a life that other shifters don’t really understand her wanting.  She’s made up her mind that she wants a man – a human man – preferably the quiet type.  Well Naomi, I’m sorry, Mother Nature has something else in mind for you! I absolutely loved the way Naomi met our next character, Ethan.  Well, saw more than met.  The way it was described I could envision it so perfectly, so…comically. Yep, comically.

Why?  Well Ethan is a shifter too.  In fact, everyone is in the stadium.  This sport was brought together in this arena for a way for all these shifters to get their aggressions out in a nice and healthy way that doesn’t bring attention to the fact that they exist.  Ok, back to Ethan.  He’s on the lacrosse team, Loup Garou.  But he isn’t wolf, he’s Kodiak Bear.  Oh yeah ladies, you heard me.  This man is a BEAR!  His human form is an impressive seven foot tall hunk of a human with muscles bulging every where you could hope to see muscles.  Ethan might not be a smooth operator, but he has a lot to offer the ladies – if they would just stop being afraid of him.  He might be a bear, but he’s no animal (snicker!).  He is intelligent, thoughtful and caring.  He could also rip just about anything limb from limb.  Talk about the ultimate protector – or enemy!  Just like I told Eve after reading this book, I think I might be a wolf to bear convert! The moment Ethan and Naomi see each other, they know they are the other’s mate.

Then enters another shifter into this drama – Javier.  Javier is a jaguar shifter and Ethan’s best friend since university.  He and Naomi get one look at each other and they realize they are also mates.  Holy Triangle Batman!!  Javier is smooth and silky, just like a jaguar.  He’s got all the right moves and all the right words, he’s definitely a ladies man.  But that all is about to change.  That Mother Nature is one wicked lady!

Knowing Naomi doesn’t want a shifter mate, let alone two of them, these guys have their work cut out for them.  But they are both bound and determined to win her over.  Honestly, I don’t know how she managed to hold out for even five minutes.  These guys could have just said “Hello” to me and I would have been putty in their hands!  And they get the opportunity to show Naomi just how serious they are about mating her because suddenly someone is threatening her!

I loved how the mystery of this story was tied into the whole romantic story.  Everything was sewn together wonderfully, and I don’t think I could have even asked for a single change.  From the initial snarky comments and stubbornness, then onto “well, I think I am beginning to like these guys…” to BAM! LOOOOOOVE! Everything was perfect. Of course, my favorite character is Ethan (who, by the way, is the second bear shifter I’ve read about from this author.  Chase from Bunny and the Bear was the first, and also quite a gem, himself) Suddenly, I want more bear shifters!  Of course, Javier is nothing to sneeze at either.  That man has a heart of gold and is a terrific prize all by himself.  But then you get the two of these guys together, trying to win Naomi’s heart as a team and you’ve got the megamillion combination.  There’s no jealousy, just great imagination and lots of heat.  The sexual tension built up nice and steady in this book.  You’d get a few teases and then the story would back off.  When the moment finally hit for the 3 of these people to finally unify you were ready.  Woooohoooo!

If you’ve read Eve’s books before you will definitely get the quality you’ve most likely come to expect from her in this story.  If you haven’t tried her books, I urge you to do so now!  Every time I read another from her it becomes my new favorite.  I have a feeling it is like this for a lot of her readers, from what I’ve seen online.  And guess what!  Eve has given me an ebook copy of Delicate Freakn’ Flower to giveaway!  Enter in the Rafflecopter below, and good luck!!

Bunny and the Bear - Eve Langlais

Title: Bunny and the Bear
Author: Eve Langlais

Format: Ebook provided by author for review

What’s a poor bear to do when all he wants is some sweet, bunny pie?
Bears and bunnies aren’t supposed to mix, or that’s what Chase keeps telling himself when his bouncy new neighbor won’t stay out of his business—and his mind. However, the more he gets to know his overly perky neighbor, the more he craves her—naked in his grasp—a desire worse than his addiction to honey and pie.
Miranda’s on a mission for the Furry United Coalition, and it involves secretly guarding one grumpy ol’ bear. Staying focused on the job isn’t easy when all she can think about is turning his frown upside down, a task made harder when she gets a glimpse of his passion. When she hears about his theory on woodland creatures and predators not mixing, she thinks all is lost, but she didn’t count on a bear’s curious nature—and possessive need.
When an evil force abducts Chase, Miranda unleashes her bunny in order to save him, but the revelation of her shifter side puts her in danger. Is one ornery bear enough to save her from a mad scientist? And if he does, can a bear forget her woodland creature status long enough to love her and make her his mate?
Warning: Pies were harmed in the making of this story and naughty references made about honey that might offend some readers.

When I first started this book come out on the websites I thought, “Oh what the heck is this??  A bunny and a bear??” I knew I wanted to read it. I felt drawn to it.  A bunny and a bear?  You don’t say!  Well, now I’ve finally gotten my chance!  Wait for it……

OMG I love this book! Seriously!  I’m not sure what exactly I was expecting, but whatever it was, it was totally blown away by this story!  If you’ve read anything on my site before you know I adore shifters.  I really really do. I love that whole dual lifestyle, “I’ve got a secret”, Bam! I’m an animal thing.  Well, in Bunny and the Bear that totally gets amped up a bit.  Yes, there is a bunny shifter and a bear shifter.  But wait!  That’s not all!  (Too infomercial, here?)  You also get a crocodile shifter, a rat shifter, a giraffe shifter (what?!?!) and even more!  My joy at this is almost too much for me to contain!  My use of exclamation points is nearing a frightening level!   Wait, one more…! Ok…

So in this story we have Chase, a bear shifter slash lawyer.  He’s a big brute of a guy, the kind of guy you do not want to mess around with.  Well, that is unless you are Miranda, secret agent in the FUC and live across the hall from him for his own (unknowing) protection.  She totally wants to mess with him, and she does one heck of a job doing it.  The chemistry between the two of these two was white hot.  It was fantastic, and I loved every minute of it.

The author, Eve Langlais, does such a wonderful job of injecting humor into this story.  You will laugh out loud, or lol if you prefer.  The animal traits of their shifter sides were brought through to their human side so elegantly, so… awesomely, it was truly beautiful.  And I don’t just mean Chase and Miranda, I mean everyone.  But there is a great sense of humor that Miranda has, a little wise-cracking snarky side.  It’s just enough to add humor without making her a pessimist.  I loved her character.  And her cute little bunny/human traits will absolutely make you smile.  And well, lets talk Chase.  The man is a bear.  I mean, if he wasn’t a bear shifter you’d probably still associate him as a bear.  And his love of honey and honey pastries is out of this world and just gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.  I don’t know why, I can’t explain it.  But a man who loves honey buns as much as Chase does can’t be a bad man, right?

Ok, maybe I gush too much.  This story has more than shifters.  It has a great mystery behind it, an abduction… there is action the whole way through and in many forms! You will definitely be entertained by this book and I cannot recommend it enough.  I don’t do ratings on my site, but every where I go, I am definitely giving it 5 stars.   There are a few steamy sex scenes, and they are wonderfully hot.  But they aren’t very graphic scenes at all, so this will appeal to the people who want less graphic love.  I’m just in love with everything about this book. I can’t wait for you to read it!  If you already have, please, let me know!  I’d love to hear your opinion!
