Release Day Blitz - Crash Into Me by Tracy Wolff

Crash Into Me
Tracy Wolff
Jamison Matthews has lusted after Ryder Montgomery since she was a preteen. But now that Ryder and her brother's band, Shaken Dirty, has made it huge, she's just one of many pining for the brooding lead singer. Too bad Ryder still sees her as a little sister. Not that it matters. Her brother would never allow it, and the last thing Jamison wants is to be another notch on a rock star's bed post. Even if it's Ryder's.

Ryder doesn't deserve happiness. After his fame destroyed his last girlfriend, he swore he'd never fall in love again. So when Jamison, the girl he's been in danger of loving for years, joins the band on the road, he'll do anything to deny the sparks between them--even after one hot night together. But Jamison is determined to show Ryder that he's worthy of love--her love--and that she's all grown up and ready to play.

Omg, this book sounds so good!!  And that cover?  Fughetaboutit!!  That is some serious frickin hotness going on, right?  Check out the excerpt, and tell me what you think - is it going on your TBR?

Excerpt CRASH INTO ME-
Onstage, the band launched into “Awake,” one of the power ballads that had made them famous. The crowd screamed their approval and so did she. Totally not her typical modus operandi, but she couldn’t help it. Something about listening to Ryder croon the darkly haunting lyrics had her knees trembling and her heart beating much too quickly. If she closed her eyes, she could do what all the other women in the audience were doing and pretend that he was singing straight to her.
So much better than remembering he’d written these heartfelt words for another woman. For Carrie, who had killed herself and broken his heart so many years before. Her own heart ached at the thought. For him. Always for him. At twenty-nine, Ryder had already been through more darkness and despair than any one person should have to handle.
“Awake” finally came to a close, the last note hanging in the air for long, tension-fueled seconds. Then the band fell silent and the audience did the same, as if they were all holding their breaths. Ryder lowered his guitar, shuffled, and stamped his feet once, twice. It was a familiar gesture, one years of experience had taught her was his way of shaking off excess emotion. Again her heart twisted. It devastated her that more than ten years after the fact he was still eaten up by what had happened. Still determined to bury it under a bunch of layers that not only insulated him from his pain but also hid the real Ryder so deep inside the public Ryder that she wondered sometimes if he even existed anymore. Or if the boy who had held her while she cried, who had let her whisper her pre-adolescent fears without ever making fun of her, had disappeared forever.
She searched for him in that one endless moment.
Looked for him in the obsidian eyes that arrowed to the heart of the crowd even as they barricaded his own emotions.
Combed through her own memories and expectations in an effort to see Ryder as he really was instead of how he portrayed himself.
And when his eyes—his crazy, beautiful eyes—met hers, she found him. Seconds passed, long, intense seconds where she lost the ability to hear or breathe or even think. All she could do was look into Ryder’s eyes, at the feral heat boiling up and out of them, and want.
She smiled at him, waved. He snarled back. But it wasn’t a leave-me-alone snarl. No, definitely not. It was his I-want-to-fuck-you-up-against-a-wall snarl—she knew it well, had seen it directed at a lot of women through the years—and her knees gave way when she realized that this time, finally, it was directed at her. It didn’t matter that there was no sign of recognition in his eyes, no knowledge that the woman he was looking at like that was actually her. Jamison. For one moment, he wanted her the way she’d always wanted him.
            It was more than enough.

Tracy Wolff collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where—and sometimes who—she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. Now an English professor at her local community college, she writes romances that run the gamut from contemporary to paranormal to erotic suspense.

And for all of those who want the unedited version:
Tracy Wolff lives with four men, teaches writing to local college students and spends as much time as she can manage immersed in worlds of her own creation. Married to the alpha hero of her dreams for twelve years, she is the mother of three young sons who spend most of their time trying to make her as crazy as possible.

Question #5: Do you work out?

Ian: Hell yeah. I’ve gotta keep up with a dancer.

Grayson: Every day.

Trick: It’s a must do for the job, but even if it wasn’t, I make it a rule to break a sweat every day…one way or another.

Derek: Nightly. And most mornings. I lose count how often on Sundays. Are we talking about the same thing?

Jett: I’m a keen surfer and living so close to the iconic Bondi Beach, I surf all the time. Nature’s workout. Surf, sand, sun. Nothing beats it.

Landon: Yes. I run, which is good practice for chasing after Steff. That woman keeps me on my toes, I'll tell you that.

Question #6: Favorite body part on a lady?

Ian: When it comes to Stacy, I love the whole package. Nothing off limits.

I love that little dip of a woman’s spine, that super-soft skin on the inside of her thighs that rubs your cheeks when she wraps her legs around your face, that spot on the back of her neck that makes her squirm when you nip it…yeah, there’s a lot of good ones.

Derek: Her thighs. Fuck. Is Ginger off work yet?

Jett: Her eyes. I love being able to read a woman’s innermost thoughts and feelings in her eyes. The more expressive the better.

Landon: I love Steff's ear lobes. They're so delicate and she shivers when I raze over them with the edge of my teeth...or bite.

So that's today's questions!!  Did you guys get your vote in?  I did!!  One of these hotties warms my blood like the rest just can't do!  Woohoo!!

Review: Dirty Trick by Christine Bell

Title: Dirty Trick
Series: Perfectly Matched #1
Author: Christine Bell
Published: September 23, 2013 - Entangled Brazen
Format: Ebook received for review

Grace Love is lousy with men. She can spot a match for someone else a mile away, and her balls-on instincts are why her matchmaking business is thriving, but finding her own Prince Charming? The only guy who makes her sixth sense tingle is her playboy best friend, Trick, and no way is she risking their friendship, no matter how hot she knows the sex will be.

SWAT officer Trick Matthews is a patient guy, but Grace’s inability to see what’s right in front of her is grinding on his last nerve. Yeah, he blew his shot at breaking out of the friend zone when he tamped down the urge to lick her from head to toe the day they met, but he’s got a plan that’ll change her mind. Incognito at Salem's hottest Halloween party, he’ll show her exactly how good they could be…and that he’s the man for her.

This was my first book from Christine Bell, and I have to say – I liked it. Her writing grabbed me and put me right in the story. I couldn’t wait to open the book back up each time I had an opportunity.

Let’s start with the characters, shall we? Our heroine is Grace Love, and she runs a matchmaking business with her friend, Serena. Grace has a bad relationship in her past. He’s a real douchebag, and I’m not even going to name him. Ha! Take that, douchebag. Anyway, he did a real number on her self-esteem. So here she is now, all this time later, afraid of being the woman she really is. And it’s a real shame, because the real woman she is is intelligent, funny, provocative, and sexy. And Trick sees that right away.

Trick, oh what a name. Ok, it’s short for Patrick, but you forget that soon enough. Trick has it bad for his best friend, Grace. And he knows that she has her heart behind a wall. But then fate steps in and he has a chance to help chip those walls down, under disguise of course. Trick is SWAT, and oh my goodness, we know how I love a man with power!! He is sexy as hell, and he’s got the boots to back it up.

Halloween – I’ve always said it’s the time for lovers. We get to wear our sexiest clothes and let the people we are on the in inside be on our outsides. It’s the most honest time of year, ya know? We can hide behind a mask and pretend our actual actions are due to our costumes. I love it! And Trick has a movie-grade cat mask, and he is every bit the hunter. Sure, what Trick does isn’t completely on the up and up, but when your heart and dick make the decisions where your brain should have some input, these things can happen!

I really enjoyed Dirty Trick. The mystery and intrigue, well, for Grace anyway, made it a bit exciting. The backdrop of Salem during Halloween gave it all a bit of a fun and mischievous flair. Trick… well Trick can be my Catman any time he wants. The heat level was more about quality than quantity. You can count the number of nookie moments on one hand –but ladies, they are oh so imaginative. Trick definitely has some sexy-ass tricks up his sleeve.

Guilt pricked him hard, and he swiped a hand over his face. It was going to be bad. And he deserved that. But if he led with the truth – that he was fucking madly and completely in love with her – maybe she would find it in her huge heart to forgive him. And hopefully it would happen sooner than later.

Oh, and the best part? No, not necessarily the HEA, although we all lust for those. But Trick gives a speech during this book that will make you melt. Couple that with his luxurious kisses, and you can call me down for the count!

Review: No Romance Required - Cari Quinn

Title: No Romance Required
Series: Love Required, #3
Author: Cari Quinn
Published: August 2013, Entangled Brazen
Format; ebook received for review

Faking it never felt so good…

Cory Santangelo is used to getting his way, both in the boardroom and the bedroom. Lately he hasn’t had much opportunity to do anything but work, but one unexpectedly sexy night in a gazebo with Victoria, his gorgeous and feisty interior designer, changes all that—especially when they’re caught on camera. Suddenly Cory’s sterling reputation is no longer above reproach. Since his impromptu encounter coincides nicely with his need for a girlfriend to get his well-meaning, meddling parents off his back, he decides to ask his lifelong frenemy for a favor.

To pretend to be his girlfriend for a month. No strings attached.

The only problem? Vicky Townsend wants those strings tied all around her. She’s battled a long-suppressed crush on Cory, and their combative work relationship has only fanned the flames. When he suggests his needs are more than she can handle, she’s ready to up the ante. And her bargaining chip is lots of delicious, inventive sex.

Until they discover nothing feels as good as making it real…

Last year I read No Flowers Required, and I loved it. Dillon and Alexa were fabulous. However – in No Flowers Required Dillon’s brother, Cory, was a bit of an asshole through most of the book and I got very mad at him. I think I harbored some of those negative feelings toward him, even a year later, going into this book. So Cory Santangelo had a bit of a hard road to travel with me. Did he get to the other side? That’s a tough question.

While not my favorite, I did enjoy this book. The characters were interesting and they felt real. I would have liked to see a little bit more build up between Vicky and Cory. I understand their relationship how it was before they entered the “fake relationship” and I love the concept. For me personally, it jumped a little too fast into the fake part without showing the love/hate they had previously.

She offered him her throat, holding on while he took full advantage. There would be marks from his teeth, hislips, and she’d happily resign herself to turtleneck sweaters for eternity if only he’d just keep going.

“This.” He yanked on her belt, his mouth almost vicious in its blazing sweep down the column of her neck. “I want you in this. Around your wrists. At my mercy.”

But then we get to the nookie. That was scandalously hot!! As it turns out, Cory is Dominant and into a bit of the kinkier side of things. The things he accomplishes in this book while in a “fake” relationship will make an ice cube turn to boil. This is fantastic –but Vicky, on the other hand, is a bit on the softer side of things. She’s got the image of town bad girl, but everything Cory wants to do is new to her. I had a bit of issue connecting to that aspect, but I still liked her as a woman.

I like Cari Quinn’s writing. She writes with a smooth flow and easily brings me into the story. Every time I got a chance to pick the book back up, I was able to jump right back in and feel like I was there. I ended up warming up to Cory, and felt content by the end of the story. If you are like me, and like the fake relationship plotline, I think you will enjoy this. It’s definitely heated and sexy, and the characters are likeable.

Wicked Heat by Nicola Marsh

Who doesn't love surprises? The people behind Brazen Books sure do - and they just couldn't wait a whole month before putting out another book for their readers. Surprise!

Their newest book combines steamy island romance and high personal stakes. What a combination!

***EXCERPT***

“You should do that more often,” he said, reaching out to trace her bottom lip with his fingertip. “You’re beautiful, but when you smile? Wow.”

Uncomfortable with his overt compliments, Allegra sat there and let a guy she’d just met touch her lips with a slow, sensual caress. His fingertip traced her bottom lip in a butterfly-soft sweep that left her breathless.

Their eyes locked as he lowered his hand, and what she saw made her wish she could ditch Palm Bay and travel to Australia.

Blatant lust. Strong. Sexy. Seductive. His eyes deepened to an incredible green that matched a favorite jade pendant she wore often. He wanted her, and in this crazy moment, the feeling was entirely mutual.

He raised his beer to his lips and took a long swig, his heat-filled stare never leaving hers.

Damn, she had no idea what to do in this situation. Make a joke to diffuse the tension? Acknowledge it? Flirt?

She hated feeling out of control, had instigated steps her entire life to avoid it. Yet in a loaded thirty seconds, Jett had made her damp with just one look and made her flounder.

“Is the blatant charm an Aussie thing or is it just you?”

Thankfully, he blinked, and broke the scorching stare that made her want to grab a napkin off the bar and fan herself. “It’s me.” He leaned in close. “Time you fessed up.”

Yikes. Was her reaction to him that easy to read?

“To what?”

His lips almost brushed her ear. “You’re battling an incredible urge to drag me into the nearest janitor’s closet and ravish me.”

She laughed at his outrageousness. “Sorry. I don’t do sex in cleaning closets. Too many hazardous chemicals.”

“Yeah, those pheromones can be killer.”

She loved his quick wit and for the second time in as many minutes, wished she’d met him at a different place, different time.

“Pity.” He reverted to a smoldering stare that had her wishing she’d ordered a vodka shot chaser. “Sex in confined spaces can be fun.”

“I’ll take your word for it.” Heat crept into her cheeks and she signaled the waiter for a glass of water. To douse herself with.

“Not the answer I was hoping for,” he said, shifting his barstool closer so their thighs brushed. “Would’ve been better if you’d said, ‘Sounds good, Jett, let’s go try.’”

She cleared her throat and gratefully accepted the water from the waiter, drinking it all and wishing she could run the cool beaded exterior across her forehead. “How did we get onto this crazy topic?”

“Started with you wanting to ravish me.” He clinked his beer bottle to her empty glass. “Seriously. There’s no need to hold back. I can take whatever you want to dish out.”

So how do you like the surprise?  I can't wait to read this one!  I've read Nicola Marsh before, and loved her work.  What do you think? Is this getting added to your TBR?

Review: Two Wrongs One Right by Katee Robert

Title: Two Wrongs, One Right
Series: Come Undone #3
Author: Katee Robert
Published: August 2013, Entangled Brazen
Format: Ebook received for review

Eight years ago, former Army sergeant Nathan Schultz let the love of his life disappear without a fight. After watching everyone around him find happiness while he slipped further away, he’s finally ready to fight for Chelsea Callaghan—and he’s not afraid to play dirty.

Chelsea has always followed her conservative family’s rules—with one heartbreaking exception. When she receives an invitation to an old high school friend’s wedding, she knows who’s to blame. Though she goes solely to give Nathan a piece of her mind, he blackmails her into staying the entire week. With him.

There’s no way she’ll bow to Nathan’s will without making him pay. Unfortunately, revenge is a dish best served fully clothed, and they can’t be in the same room without losing theirs. As insatiable, anger-fueled lust shifts into something more, they begin to lose sight of why they can’t be together. But with so many unforgivable wrongs between them, can Nathan and Chelsea ever make things right?

Two Wrongs, One Right is the story of Chelsea and Nathan, a couple with some history between them. When Chelsea receives an invitation to Gabe’s wedding, who is Nathan’s brother, she sees it as an opportunity to resolve some old feelings. She goes with the intent of closure. Silly silly girl. When confronted with the hotness that is Nathan, nothing will be closed.

I enjoyed this book because it was packed full with hot sex. The storyline of the story did not grab me as much, and at times I felt the sheer quantity of sex between Nathan and Chelsea seemed opposed to the storyline. Chelsea was going to the wedding to specifically to see Nathan and end their history together. But no sooner does she get there then they are getting it on.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing I love more than some hot nookie in my books. I love it. And this book is definitely HOT. Nathan and Chelsea are inventive and intense. At times Nathan is a bit Dominant, and we all know that makes me swoon. But Chelsea doesn’t back down, and I love that too. But I felt there was just too much sex, it was in direct opposition to her goal. It actually brought my opinion down of Chelsea, because as soon as Nathan dangled dirty talk in front of her, she forgot all of her initial intentions. So by the end, Chelsea felt kind of wishy washy.

Nathan’s grin was downright wolfish. “Oh, I don’t know about that. You’ve been here less than an hour and you’re already practically begging me to kiss you.” His gaze dropped to her mouth, and it was everything she could do not to lick her lips. “It’s okay, baby. You don’t have to beg. I’m more than willing to kiss every single fucking inch of you.”

Now, Nathan, on the other hand, I liked. He began by being devious with the right reasons behind it, and he stayed that way the whole way through. He played dirty. He knew what his girl wanted deep down, and he gave it to her. He was hard hitting, and he drove his point home.

The rest of the story? Meh. It didn’t do much for me. Chelsea comes from a straight-laced political high brow family. They control everything in her life, it seems. But they don’t truly know her, or appreciate her. Nathan’s family is close and tight-knit, the way a family should be. Even after losing the matriarch, his mother, they are still held together like glue. That’s the kind of familial situation I like to see in books.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was easy to read, and nothing really tore me up. Like I said, the naked times were sexy as hell. The rest of the story, was alright. It wasn’t bad, by any means, just not what I had hoped for. I say give it a shot. From what I understand, the rest of the series is pretty terrific, and I liked this installment enough that I would be willing to read the rest.

It’s time to plan her getaway, and fast—but first, she needs to tie up a few loose ends. Namely, finding out exactly what the town’s sexy cowboy sheriff is hiding in his holster...

Sheriff Quinn Lodge has enough demons of his own to know when someone’s hiding something. Clearly, he needs to do a thorough investigation to uncover what’s beneath Juliet’s uptight, city-girl exterior—preferably one piece of clothing at a time. But when their chemistry goes from fizzy to full-on explosive, things start getting complicated. How can Juliet stay beneath the covers with Quinn, when doing so means blowing her cover?

In the beginning of Under The Covers, I was a bit confused. The first scene had me wondering what was happening, and I never really did figure it out for sure. But I do know that in the very first scene there was sexual heat and tension, begging to be unwrapped like the most sparkly present under the tree.

This is the story of Juliet and Quinn. Quinn has been asking Juliet out for quite some time, and when an opportunity arises to make her his pretend girlfriend, he jumps at the chance. This wasn’t something that was followed to closely through the story, which disappointed me a bit. However, it totally made up for it in sincere emotions between the two people that didn’t require a fake romance.

Juliet is a woman of secrets, and Quinn is determined to know her inside and out. I really loved his perseverance in getting that goal. When it was still at the point where I didn’t know what Juliet’s secrets were, I was hoping they were actually something substantial enough to require the lying she was doing. You’ll have to make that determination for yourself. All I can say is that her secrets come back to bite her, and it definitely leads to some tense moments.

While I wasn’t sure I was quite on board with this story in the beginning, it didn’t take long before I decided I was all in. I would have liked more detail, some more fleshing out of some certain scenes, but overall the pace was quick and the action was great – both in the bedroom and out. The characters that you are supposed to like, I did. And for the characters that you are supposed to not like, I really didn’t. Did that statement make sense? Haha. There were some really funny scenes, I thought. I especially liked one where Juliet is alone at Quinn’s house, and she gets some unexpected visitors. Trust me, you will definitely get a giggle out of it. And then there is the sexy....

“Juliet,” he drawled while carrying her through the room and up the stairs, “I have handcuffs.”

She breathed out a combination of heat and humor. “Sounds like a threat.”

“Oh no, darlin’.” He set her on the bed. “I don’t threaten. Ever.”

“Really? What was that statement?”

“A promise.” He unclasped his jeans and dropped them to the floor. “I’ll take a little teasing from you, beautiful. But you cross me? I’ll cuff you and make you beg.”

Ok, let’s talk about the heat. Quinn is a big man (in many ways...ahem). A big Native American man, of the Kooskia reserve. He’s the sheriff. And he is a bit dominating and controlling. Have I got your attention yet? I thought so. Yeah – me too. And then you have Juliet, an Irish woman with red hair, who is desperately trying to keep her secrets hidden, while trying to keep herself for falling for this man who she has obviously already fallen for. She gets this high society air about her when she gets defensive or secretive, and I thought it really was kind of funny at times - a nice injection of humor. But what I really liked is that Quinn saw right through it – every time. The man just gets her, and in getting her, he got me. There is nothing I love more than seeing a hero know for certain that his heroine is something special, and that he knows her in ways she doesn’t even know herself. And when these two get together you will see nothing less than fireworks.

If you are looking for a quick read, I absolutely recommend this. I hadn’t read the first book, and it had me a bit lost in the beginning. So you might want to pick that up. But if you decide to jump right into this story, I don’t think it would put you off too much. There are some really terrific secondary characters that I’m guessing will get their own books in the future, and I can’t wait for that. But as for this book, I’d definitely put it on your TBR.

Opposites don’t attract. They ignite.

The small Montana town near the Kooskia reserve seemed like the perfect place for Juliet Montgomery to hide from her not-so-law-abiding family. But when her peace is shattered by a break-in and threatening phone calls, it’s clear someone back in New York knows where she is. It’s time to plan her getaway, and fast—but first, she needs to tie up a few loose ends. Namely, finding out exactly what the town’s sexy cowboy sheriff is hiding in his holster...

Seven days. And seven rules to break...

District Attorney Vanessa McGregor firmly believes that structure and order are the stuff that dreams are made of. Happiness can be planned - and it starts with seven rules she's laid out for her future. But as she's organizing her best friend's wedding in Hawaii, all of Vanessa's best-laid plans are about to meet their match in a wickedly hot MMA fighter...

Jackson "Jax" Maris is focused on surfing, training and fighting. That is, until he opens up his big mouth, and finds himself having to pretend he's engaged to his little sister's best friend, Vanessa. When they're force to share a romantic bungalow, however, their little charade suddenly takes a turn for the seriously sexy. And while Jax is definitely not part of Vanessa's long-term plan, he has seven days - and seven naughty nights - to turn her seven-rule plan upside down.

This book opens up with “Vanessa MacGregor’s ‘Lucky 7’ Rules To Live By”. Pretty cool opening, if you ask me. And actually, it really appealed to the list-maker within, instantly creating an affinity with Vanessa. On top of that, the rules are pretty damn good rules, I took a picture to keep in my phone. Lame? I think not. But you will have to read the book to find out what they are. But they generally deal with common sense, which we all lose from time to time, when dealing with the opposite sex.

And speaking of the opposite sex, I can’t let this review go a moment more without mentioning Jax. Tall, dark, sexy as all hell, champion MMA fighter, and he calls Vanessa “Princess” (among many other humorous and thoughtful things!).  He is all man, and definitely one of those guys you just love to read about.  A bit mysterious, a bit smart ass, and well, you know...sexy.

Vanessa has just arrived in Hawaii to help prepare for her best friend’s wedding. Lucie is ill and can’t travel. By the way, Lucie is marrying Reid, and they are the couple from book one, Seducing Cinderella. I have it from a couple reliable sources that the first book is every bit as good as this book – so I immediately purchased a copy for myself and I am anxiously awaiting my first opportunity to read it! But back to Jax and Vanessa. Jax is going to be Vanessa’s liaison, if you will, while she is in Hawaii. But as soon as he meets the spitfire that she is, his mouth runs away with him and he tells her that they must pretend to be Reid and Lucie while they settle up the wedding plans. I don’t know about you, but this sounds hilarious and I would love to see this play out on the silver screen. You have a beautiful backdrop of Hawaii, the “you make my insides melt” Jax, and Vanessa, who is a spark waiting to turn into a fire. Sounds great, eh?

This book is hard hitting as far as the fun goes, and it didn’t let up. Every page was a treat. Right from a sexy game of drinking Patrón shots, to dancing in the bar, to dealing with the flamboyant wedding planner. It doesn’t matter that Vanessa is sure that Jax is bad news, with his laid back attitude and tattoos covering his tanned, toned, well sculpted, big ol giant….. whew. Oh muscles, yes, I meant his tattoo covered muscles. Sorry, I got lost there for a moment. *wink!*

There is a lot more than meets the eye with both of these characters, and that’s what I like. They have secrets and pasts that weren’t always pleasant. They’ve travelled a hard road and somehow they have managed to come out the other side pretty ok. And now they are in front of each other. You get to see Jax throw some punches; he is a MMA fighter, afterall. And there are some curl your toes scenes that will… well, curl your toes. I just jumped right into this series, at book number two. I didn’t feel like I was lost, I felt like it could stand alone. I fell in love with the whole story immediately, and I don’t doubt you will either!

Review: No Flowers Required by Cari Quinn

Title: No Flowers Required
Series: Love Required, Book Two
Author: Cari Quinn
Published: August 2012, Entangled Publishing
Format: Ebook received from Entangled for review

He’ll give her everything she desires...except his identity.

Flower shop owner Alexa Conroy had it all before the recession hit and her customers fled to cheaper shopping grounds. Desperate to make ends meet, she sells her dream home and moves into the rundown apartments above her shop. When she spots six feet of sexy distraction—complete with muscles, piercings, and tattoos—ripping up flooring, Alexa knows the karmic windfall she’s due just landed on her doorstep.

And the attraction’s definitely not one-sided.

Dillon James, reluctant heir to the corporation about to foreclose on Alexa’s shop, is not about to jeopardize their scorching chemistry by admitting he’s not the building’s handyman. But with only weeks until her business goes under and his identity is revealed, Dillon must find a way to convince Alexa cooperation isn’t a dirty word, help her save the shop from his brother’s greed, and persuade her that he’s not the enemy...or risk losing the only woman who’s seen the real him.

Hmmm… Where do I begin?  Never having read anything from Cari Quinn before, I was a bit apprehensive.  Would the writing be sickly sweet?  For some reason this felt like a real concern to me.  Needless concern, apparently.  Cari’s writing is fabulous.  She really knows how to relate the story to the reader in such a way that I felt every sweat bead, every rain drop, every muffin crumb tumble.  I was mad as hell when the pipes leaked, and I lost all brain power when I saw the sexy guy tearing up flooring in the apartment down the hall.  I am a definite new fan, and I will be checking out more of her books soon.  If you have any suggestions for me, let me know!  Her writing has a lot of humor, that special smart ass tone that I love so much.

Alexa and Dillon… Dillon and Alexa… K-I-S-S-I-N-G!  Whew, these  two, I tell ya… I loved both of these characters, and I wanted them both to find that complete happiness within each other.  The story is told in both of their POV, so you get the full story on what is happening.  You understand their fears, sadness, and rejoice with their joys.

Alexa is kind of down on her luck after being on top of the world.  She’s just moved into a shabby apartment that seems to be falling apart just as quick as she is.  She might be down, but she is not out.  And luckily she finds the handyman right away so she can get these blasted repairs done in her apartment.

Dillon… Dillon is the handyman who is hot, has tattoos and an affinity for copper accessories.  He’s tough looking, but you know there is more than meets the eye when he sets his gaze on you.   And apparently there is even more than that, cause this man is keeping some big secrets.  But the guy has a heart as big as Texas and I just want to hug him for all that he puts himself through internally.  He knows his secrets are going to cause everyone pain, but he has an end goal in sight, you see.  And sometimes that goal is bigger than satisfying your own needs.

“Change was coming.  Time to seize the day, and everything that came with it.”

I feel like I am struggling with this review, trying to not give too much away.  Truth is, I just want to go over all the details and see what you thought.  That would be a good way to end my blog though, I suppose!  This book has some of the most sensual and riveting scenes I’ve read in a while.  Even though I am afraid of heights, I feel like I am going to spend a lot more time on rooftops looking for my own Dillon James.   In my notes for this book I doodled.  What did I doodle?  I doodled Dillon James with hearts around his name.

This book has some sex scenes that will just melt you to a little puddle of goo on the floor.  Seriously.  The fire between these two is white hot, and I couldn’t get enough.  Over and over I felt like I was reading something new and fresh.   The drama and troubles that arise feel like mountains, and I found myself being so sad when things went south.  Not just for Dillon, but for Alexa.  I wanted them to be happy together. The emotions were high and heart felt.  The scenery was superb and tangible.  If you want a romance to curl your toes and hug your heart in a tattooed sexy beast of an embrace, then I definitely think you should read this book.
