Seven days. And seven rules to break...

District Attorney Vanessa McGregor firmly believes that structure and order are the stuff that dreams are made of. Happiness can be planned - and it starts with seven rules she's laid out for her future. But as she's organizing her best friend's wedding in Hawaii, all of Vanessa's best-laid plans are about to meet their match in a wickedly hot MMA fighter...

Jackson "Jax" Maris is focused on surfing, training and fighting. That is, until he opens up his big mouth, and finds himself having to pretend he's engaged to his little sister's best friend, Vanessa. When they're force to share a romantic bungalow, however, their little charade suddenly takes a turn for the seriously sexy. And while Jax is definitely not part of Vanessa's long-term plan, he has seven days - and seven naughty nights - to turn her seven-rule plan upside down.

This book opens up with “Vanessa MacGregor’s ‘Lucky 7’ Rules To Live By”. Pretty cool opening, if you ask me. And actually, it really appealed to the list-maker within, instantly creating an affinity with Vanessa. On top of that, the rules are pretty damn good rules, I took a picture to keep in my phone. Lame? I think not. But you will have to read the book to find out what they are. But they generally deal with common sense, which we all lose from time to time, when dealing with the opposite sex.

And speaking of the opposite sex, I can’t let this review go a moment more without mentioning Jax. Tall, dark, sexy as all hell, champion MMA fighter, and he calls Vanessa “Princess” (among many other humorous and thoughtful things!).  He is all man, and definitely one of those guys you just love to read about.  A bit mysterious, a bit smart ass, and well, you know...sexy.

Vanessa has just arrived in Hawaii to help prepare for her best friend’s wedding. Lucie is ill and can’t travel. By the way, Lucie is marrying Reid, and they are the couple from book one, Seducing Cinderella. I have it from a couple reliable sources that the first book is every bit as good as this book – so I immediately purchased a copy for myself and I am anxiously awaiting my first opportunity to read it! But back to Jax and Vanessa. Jax is going to be Vanessa’s liaison, if you will, while she is in Hawaii. But as soon as he meets the spitfire that she is, his mouth runs away with him and he tells her that they must pretend to be Reid and Lucie while they settle up the wedding plans. I don’t know about you, but this sounds hilarious and I would love to see this play out on the silver screen. You have a beautiful backdrop of Hawaii, the “you make my insides melt” Jax, and Vanessa, who is a spark waiting to turn into a fire. Sounds great, eh?

This book is hard hitting as far as the fun goes, and it didn’t let up. Every page was a treat. Right from a sexy game of drinking PatrĂ³n shots, to dancing in the bar, to dealing with the flamboyant wedding planner. It doesn’t matter that Vanessa is sure that Jax is bad news, with his laid back attitude and tattoos covering his tanned, toned, well sculpted, big ol giant….. whew. Oh muscles, yes, I meant his tattoo covered muscles. Sorry, I got lost there for a moment. *wink!*

There is a lot more than meets the eye with both of these characters, and that’s what I like. They have secrets and pasts that weren’t always pleasant. They’ve travelled a hard road and somehow they have managed to come out the other side pretty ok. And now they are in front of each other. You get to see Jax throw some punches; he is a MMA fighter, afterall. And there are some curl your toes scenes that will… well, curl your toes. I just jumped right into this series, at book number two. I didn’t feel like I was lost, I felt like it could stand alone. I fell in love with the whole story immediately, and I don’t doubt you will either!

So how about you? Have you read any books in the Fighting For Love series? Are you going to?
