As Reapers Motorcycle Club president, Reese “Picnic” Hayes has given his entire life to the club. After losing his wife, he knew he’d never love another woman. And with two daughters to raise and a club to manage, that was just fine with him. These days, Reese keeps his relationships free and easy—he definitely doesn’t want to waste his time on a glorified cleaning lady like London Armstrong.
Too bad he’s completely obsessed with her.
Besides running her own business, London’s got her junkie cousin’s daughter to look after—a more reckless than average eighteen-year-old. Sure she’s attracted to the Reapers’ president, but she’s not stupid. Reese Hayes is a criminal and a thug. But when her young cousin gets caught up with a ruthless drug cartel, Reese might be the only man who can help her. Now London has to make the hardest decision of her life—how far will she go to save her family?
When I got this ARC in the mail a couple months ago - so new it didn't even have an awesome cover, I literally did a jump and squee. I tried explaining it to my six year old why I was acting so excited, but she didn't really get it. However, lovers of the Reapers get it, I know they do! Picnic!!! Ahhh, finally, the man in charge!
"You're in my club. Outside this room are twenty men who will do anything to back me up. Anything. And outside this building are forests and mountains that reach all the way up to Montana. Only witnesses out there are deer and maybe a moose or two. You sure you wanna piss me off? I just pulled my dick out of a willing woman's mouth for you, so it's not like I'm in a good mood to start with."
I've read this entire series. Every time I read a new book, it's my new favorite. Horse, Ruger, Hunter, and Picnic... man, it would be a hard hard hard choice. And that's not even counting the other guys like Bolt and Painter. But today we are here for Picnic, and let me tell you - it's a good place to be.
Pic is the head of the club, the President. All the guys have Alpha tendencies, but Pic - Pic is the Alpha of the Alphas. And when you are around him, you can feel the power vibrate off of him. He's smart, he's cool, he's in charge. You aren't going to get a step ahead of this man. Hell no, you ain't even getting fucking close. He's known heartbreak and he has surely known stress. Now in Reaper's Stand, it's time to know some happiness.... right? Picnic is 41 and he's been around the block. Older and sexy, he's got to be one of the hottest Reapers yet.
I pulled my head away and looked up at him through my lashes, letting my tongue slide along my lower lip.
"You ready for it?"
He nodded, something close to desperation in his eyes. His thigh muscles were rock hard under my hands, and while he might look relaxed against the tree, I knew that was a lie. If I pulled away right now he'd probably stroke out. Fortunately, I'm a benevolent kind of woman, so I opened my mouth wide and sucked in his cockhead like a Popsicle.
Yeah, that happiness comes in the form of London. Her and Pic have had a thing for each other for a while, and both have their own reasons for staying away from the other. As for her, she's trying to raise a young woman from a child. That would be Jess, and Jess is a handful on the best of days. London owns her own business and she's a woman in charge of her own life. An Alpha woman. You gotta like her. And I do like her - until the one part where I am cursing her motherf**king name and waiting for someone to END HER. Oh yeah, she made me MAD. Yeah, rock and hard place, blah blah blah. When you got a badass biker next to you, you take full advantage of the perks that come with that. You have to give the woman some credit, she's got some balls. London is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. She tries to be good and pure, mostly for Jess's sake, but inside she is a sexy and strong woman. She put me on a rollercoaster of love/hate with her, and I totally dug that.
This storyline will take you for a ride. Problems are still coming up with the Cartel, and the Devil's Jacks are still around (Hunter!!!) Big decisions need to be made. Alliances are formed and strengthened, and well, some people's true face shows through. Reaper's Stand is a high action and very high tension book. It also has some love scenes that will melt your clothes right off you. It's really great to get the story from both Picnic and London's point of view. All the guys are around and it's more than my swoon-level can handle. Ruger, Gage, Horse, Hunter, Painter, and Picnic... these men are just just part of the reason the Reapers are my favorite mc club. Ok Ok, so Hunter is a Jack, but still. Will the Silver Bastards (the next spin off series) be able to hold a candle to the Reapers? Will Puck be awesome, and overcome his slightly scary side that he showed in Reaper's Stand? I would bet money it is going to be beyond freaking awesome!! I'm not sure I'm ready to let go of the Reapers. I mean, come on - they are seriously awesome. Joanna Wylde has created a world that is so colorful and intense, with these leading characters that you actually care about. How can anyone want to let that go?
