On a business trip to Japan, Paige has just found happiness with Casey, an exciting, young man with a passionate interest in Paige. After a night of wild sex, feels like a new woman. Drawn to Casey, Paige can’t refuse him even though he says he wants to possess her and she learns he is a vampire. Then Paige's unfaithful husband, Dalton, shows up. He has supposedly broken off his affair, but Paige suspects he is still seeing his mistress. Soon, Paige begins to notice disturbing things happening around her and discovers she has become the center of a battle between covens who consider her The Chosen One. But when she faces the greatest peril of her life, and Casey shows up to help, Page realizes she is willing fight the covens side-by-side with him, if it means the chance of a future with this vampire she has come to love.
Paige and her friend, Rosa, are in Japan enjoying a night
out at the bar. Rosa is living it up,
she’s sexy and she knows it, and so does everyone in the bar. Paige is more like a wallflower, a bit
jealous of her friend. At first Paige
was making me a bit mad, she was being so constantly negative the first night
at the bar. I felt like she was just
radiating negative energy and that’s what she got in return. But then as the story goes on, and you learn
more about her and her past, you see that its not negative energy – she’s just
used to being delivered with disappointment.
When Casey came into Paige’s life my interest really
peaked. He’s one of those soft spoken
guys that you know could rip apart an enemy in a heartbeat. And his
determination in showing Paige he was interested in her and not Rosa was
completely endearing. Yep, I definitely
developed a crush on Casey.
Something else I really liked about this story, and you don’t
see it too often; Paige is not some modelesque twenty-something girl. She is in her forties, she has curves, and
the battle scars of bearing children. She
could easily be you or me. Or maybe just
me? Haha J Anyhow, she is a real woman, she is someone I
was able to relate to on a physical level, and I liked it.
The heat between Casey and Paige is fantastic. They work together like a long term couple
with all the fire of a one night stand.
I found myself eagerly waiting each scene with the two of them, whether
or not it was in the bedroom. Even
outside of the bedroom Casey treated Paige so well, so tenderly, it was really
great to see.
Then suddenly Paige’s husband shows up. Dalton.
Ugh, I instantly don’t like this guy.
He is a top notch jerk. He’s a
big time liar, and when Paige finds out exactly what the secret is, well, let’s
say it gets a bit crazy.
I definitely recommend this story on several levels. It’s only around 100 pages, so its not very
long. But in that short span you get a
budding romance, some great woman on woman friendship, the drama of a marriage
gone down the tubes, the action of a paranormal story – cause lets face it,
there are vampires in this story. But I’ll
leave that part for you to read.

His tongue licked gently across her lips and she sighed, leaning into him, allowing him access. She threw caution to the wind and went with it, her tongue met his tentatively. Like she did, he tasted of wine and beer. Warnings bounced around in her head, telling her this was not supposed to be happening. But she was sick of being uptight. Tired of always doing just the right thing, constantly worrying about what would happen if…
With her arms to her side, Casey pulled her to him. One hand going to her waist, the other lifted and his big hand cupped the side of her face tenderly. Her arms lifted and her hands came to rest on his shoulders. She had to do it now. Push away or she wouldn't be able to. She fought with her emotions while his tongue fought to go deeper into her mouth.
She relented, giving in to the heat of the moment. Her hands snaked up around his neck, the other into his soft hair. She pulled him closer and kissed him back.
She heard Rosa giggle but was too engrossed in the lips and tongue devouring her to pay any real attention. Paige heard the rustle of clothing and thought vaguely that Rosa was allowing Tadd to remove her shirt. She had never done anything like this before, not with another couple in the room. The thought terrified her, yet it also turned her on even more. Groaning, she deepened the kiss and pressed herself against Casey's muscular chest. It felt good to be held in strong arms.
The room was hot; the windows were open to let in the evening air. The fans circulating thick humid air did nothing to cool the heat of bodies in the room. The military base didn't have air conditioning in any of the buildings accept for commanders quarters and offices. The barracks and lodging buildings were supplied with oscillating fans. But none of that mattered. Paige wanted to feel him holding her, his skin touching her, him inside of her. She broke the kiss and buried her face in Casey's shoulder, trying to catch her breath and make sense of what she was doing.
Grabbing the toothpaste, she squirted some on her finger and brushed her teeth. "Hey, ya never know." She mumbled to her reflection in the mirror. If by chance he was waiting for her, then she wanted to be prepared. A silly smile spread across her lips, she had already kissed him. So it really didn't matter. Taking a deep breath, she reached out, turned the knob and pulled the door open. Stepping out into the small hallway, she heard the provocative sounds of Rosa moaning and closed her eyes. She had to go down the hallway and through the living room area to get to the front door. There was no way around it. She was going to see what was happening. Taking another breath, forcing herself to take the first step, she headed down the hall...
Seeing the look of desire on her face, Casey started forward. Paige saw him move and took a tentative step and stopped. Then he closed the distance and she found herself pushed none too gently against the wall with him pressed against her. Her leg lifted, wrapping her foot around the back of his ankle, she felt him press against her heat. Their mouths ravished the other until they were forced to pull apart to breathe.
He didn't give her time to think. Shoving her long blonde hair away from her neck and shoulders, his tongue danced across her sensitive skin and found the tender spot that sent a shiver spiraling through her body
Her hand grasped at his hair, but it wasn't long enough for her to hold. Her other hand roamed across the muscles that played along his back while he moved against her. His hands were everywhere all at once. Okay, she was now convinced that he wanted her, not Rosa. A fleeting thought of wondering why he would want her crossed her mind but she forced it away. She heard him say her name gruffly. He breathed heavily against her, and then felt him nip her neck, his teeth scraping against her sensitive skin.
It would stop now, or it would be too late. She opened her eyes as he lifted his head to stare down into her green eyes. Her hand dropped away and felt around in her back pocket. Flipping out the room key and holding it up for him to see. Again, the self-doubt tried to sneak its way back in but was lost in the mind blowing kiss he gave her. The key slipped when he tugged on it gently, pulling it from her hand.
