Guest Post & Giveaway: Out of Line by Jen McLaughlin

Out of Line
Jen McLaughlin

Desperate to break free…

I've spent my entire life under my father’s thumb, but now I'm finally free to make my own choices. When my roommate dragged me to my first college party, I met Finn Coram and my life turned inside out. He knows how to break the rules and is everything I never knew I wanted. A Marine by day and surfer by night, he pushes me away even as our attraction brings us closer. Now I am finally free to do whatever I want. I know what I want. I choose Finn.

Trying to play by the rules...

I always follow orders. My job, my life, depends on it. I thought this job would be easy, all the rules were made crystal clear, but when I met Carrie Wallington, everything got muddy. She's a rule I know I shouldn't break, but damn if I don’t inch closer to the breaking point each time I see her. I’m ready to step out of line. And even worse? I’m living a lie. They say the truth will set you free, but in my case…

The truth will cost me everything.

Today I have a fun little peak for you, inside the life of author Jen McLaughlin.  Fun!!  Sit back and take a look, and enter the giveaway at the end.  Good luck!!

My Writing Area
by Jen McLaughlin

I often get asked what my writing area looks like, but instead of just telling you, I thought I’d share a picture, too. When I wrote Out Of Line, my desk certainly looked like this. I’m sure of it, because it never changes. I’m weird like that. LOL

Take a second to look below to see where all my books get written, edited, picked to death, and put back together again.

On the left, you’ll see the Eiffel Tower lamp my sister got me for my wedding. Also, a pile of papers that more often than not houses my current outline for whatever project I’m working on at the moment. You’ll also see the #1 Mom notebook my teenager got me, as well as Thor. He makes sure I stick to my deadlines and was a present from my hubby. Also, a yellow slinky. That was my Christmas present from my seven year old son. You might also see a scrap of paper. It’s a heart my four year old drew for me.

In the middle, obviously, is my computer. Yep, I’m a Mac girl. As you might be able to see, I’m on Twitter. This means I’m working, of course. ;) My mouse pad has one of my book covers on it (Can you tell which one?). You might see a charger, too. I charge my iPhone half-way through the day when I’m writing.

On the right, you’ll see my coffee (yes, it’s always there) on the warmer my husband got me. Also, a mug with dry erase markers for my plotting board, and a Scentsy warmer to make my office area smell nice. Another pile of miscellaneous papers, and lip balm. It’s the only kind I can use because I’m weird like that.

Lots of things in life change…but this desk?

Yeah, it pretty much always stays the same. So does the view.

She lives in Northeast Pennsylvania with her four kids, a husband, a schnauzer mutt, a cat, and a Senegal parrot. In the rare moments when she’s not writing, she can usually be found hunched over one knitting project or another. Her goal is too write so many well-crafted romance books that even a non-romance reader will know her name.
