Review: Up To Me by M Leighton

Title: Up To Me
Series: Bad Boys Book Two
Author: M Leighton
Published: January 2013
Format: Personal Purchase

Happily ever after doesn’t come easy. But for love, it’s always worth the fight.

Olivia finds bliss unlike any she’s ever known in Cash’s arms. He sets her skin on fire and melts her heart right inside her chest. Unfortunately, their happily ever after is short-lived when a shadow from Cash’s past threatens to turn their world upside down.

Dangerous people from his father’s world have discovered that Cash holds information that could put them away for a very long time. And they’re willing to do anything—and hurt anybody—to get it back. Giving it up means Cash must choose between the life of his father and the life of Olivia.

Having nearly overcome her wariness of bad boys, Olivia’s trust is shaken when this new threat arises. Now she finds that Cash is not only a danger to her heart, but his family has associations that are a danger to her life as well. She soon discovers that there are some situations in life where trust is a girl’s only option. And this is one of them. If she’s to live, she must trust Cash with her life. But to Olivia, that’s much, much easier than letting go and trusting him with her heart.

*sigh* Oh Cash, how I love you. Good to see you back in Up To Me, buddy boy. Let’s try and get through this review without visiting Spoiler City, eh? I hear that there are landmines everywhere…

Cash and Oliva are keeping their relationship a secret, by Olivia’s preference. There are the issues with her cousin (Marissa), and her coworkers (mainly Taryn), and she really just feels like she (and they) have enough on their plate at the moment. I happen to agree, but I think if I landed a man like Cash, I’d have a very hard time not climbing Mt Everest and telling the entire universe! I mean seriously, have you seen the cover? THAT is Cash. The man is a take-charge, no holds barred guy. He’s dirty-sweet, which is one of my favorite combos. I love the man. He’s more than awesome.

There’s lots of drama in this book. Some of it is from Taryn. Gah! I really dislike that woman. She is nothing but a catty ball of bitch, and really, she could get fired from Dual right about now and I’d be happy. But there is drama coming in from lots of angles here in Up To Me, and it ain’t all about Taryn. Olivia is about to get the full frontal of the bad boy type of life. But she’s into her man, and he’s into her. They are as together as they can be, and I love that kind of lust mixed with devotion.

And I really can’t tell you too much more without giving it all away. There are some super exciting appearances from super exciting people in this book. There is tons of action, and it is quite the different book from Down To You. Where Down To You focused more on Olivia and Cash meeting, their flirtation, and their lust, Up To Me deals a lot with outside issues that are potentially threatening to their new relationship. But even though this book isn’t just a screw-fest, it is still really exciting. But hey, if it is heat you are looking for – this book definitely has it. It has it in spades. This book will make your muscles ache with need for these two to join up.

So, yeah. There it is. I’ve managed to sidestep the spoilers. Do you have a clue what is going on with this book? No? Good. It is so full of surprises, I totally want you to experience them for yourself! So first read Down To You, then read Up To Me. This is not one of those series with standalone books.
