Review: Try Me by Diane Alberts

Title: Try Me
Series: Take A Chance #1
Author: Diane Alberts
Published: May 2012, Entangled (Ever After)
Format: Won Copy

What happens in Vegas...can lead to romance.

It took one wild night for Sergeant Jeremy Addison to realize that Vegas? Was a bad idea.

Bloody. Bruised. Dehydrated. Abandoned in the desert, and left to stagger down the road. The only way this leave could get worse was if his savior was his ex-best friend's sister...and the girl he'd loved since childhood.

The last person Erica expected to find on the roadside was her high school crush. She hadn't seen Jeremy in seven years—ever since the night he said he loved her, and she ran away. Losing him then had been a mistake, but wanting him now could be catastrophic if he discovered the secret that chased every other man from her life. But with a tall, tattooed Marine determined to prove he's always been faithful, can Erica resist his advances...or will she surrender ground and give love a try?

Try Me was one of those books that was just fun to read. I didn’t try to over-analyze things, I was just along for the ride. I won this book on Proserpine Craving Books and Diane Alberts has made me a new fan.

Of all the deserted roads in all the deserts…she had to find him on that one. Battered and bruised, a bit worse for the wear, Erica finds Jeremy on the side of the road. He’s dehydrated and had one hell of a night. But hey, when you just happened to be hitchhiking and get picked up by the love of your life who you haven’t seen in seven years…who you told you loved them, and she ran away without a word, hey, the worse can’t get much better, can it? I thought this was a huge coincidence, but I liked it. Like one of those “Ohhhhh realllly?” moments. And stranger things have happened.

So of course, the car ride is uncomfortable to say the least. Both of these people hold feelings for the other, and in a big way. There is so much miscommunication and misunderstood things in their past, the storm they are brewing is fantastic. I felt like an evil mastermind, on the sidelines rubbing my hands together, excited for the drama. Yep, sometimes I’m a bit weird like that.

A car ride turns into an overnighter. There is a lot of history these two have, with each other and without. I really enjoyed the emotions between them. But as it is with any couple who just can’t get their act together, there were times I wanted to throttle each of them! Her extreme fears felt a bit dramatic to me. Erica grew up with Jeremy, she should trust him above all others. She loves this man. So when things come to a head, and everything is confronted – I’m a very happy person. Jeremy is a man who knows what he wants, but is a bit "man-like" when it comes to seeing the forest through the trees, if you know what I mean.  He's got great intentions, but when it comes to women, sometimes you need to add a little finesse.

And lastly, this is a book that has an epilogue. I love me some good epilogue. Try Me does not disappoint, and I must say – there may have been a cheer and a solitary tear of joy. If you are looking for a quick read, something that will hit all of the points on your list without dwelling too long – then this is a good read for you. Emotion – check. Heat – check. Miscommunication and drama – check check. Super hot reunion and glorious epilogue – oh yeah, check that, baby.
