Tribute Books Tour: Until Next Time - Amy Lignor - Review

Author: Amy Lignor
Format: Ebook provided by Tribute Books for tour review

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?
Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.
When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.
From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.
The world is full of saints and sinners, my dear. You fight to be one or the other, but it’s a losing battle. You’re both—just like the rest of us.

This is definitely an interesting story.  I was intrigued from the first time I saw the cover, and then once I started reading I was absolutely hooked.  I’ve read a few different angel stories lately, and they were all vastly different.  I think that is what is so great about these types of stories, there are so many paths you can take.

In Until Next Time we meet Matt and Emily, angels.  One on a warrior path, and one on an angelic path.  Both sent to Earth together to inhabit a person and live their life.  Only this time is different, they will not know who the other person is once they are human.  In this life they are Liz and Daniel, friends – nothing more.  Although that is not the way Daniel would have it, if he could have his way.

Truth be told, I was much more interested in the story when it was Liz and Daniel, rather than when they returned to Heaven as Matt and Emily.  I think maybe just because it is so much easier to relate to humans than to angels.

Liz and Daniel are friends in Ireland.  He has romantic designs, and she claims they are kindred spirits, destined to be friends forever.  Then something happens one night, a murder occurs, and it will forever change their path. To add some further twists into the plot, Liz and her best friend, Faith, meet a couple men, Jason and Charles, who drastically change the path their lives take.

I think this story was incredibly written with well thought out characters.  It was great to see the archangels included in the story as mentors of a sort to Matt and Emily.  But my interests kept coming back to Liz.

Liz had a hard life, orphaned at a young age, she was left to her own devices.  She inherited a pub and ran it well with Faith. But troubled as she may be, she still had an open heart and an open mind.  I really admired her for her choices, even when they weren’t so easy.  There were a few teary moments, but that is the natural course of the story.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in angels,  or even historical fiction or romance.  This was absolutely a fantastic read!
