Interview/Giveaway: Last Vamp Standing by Kristin Miller

Last Vamp Standing
Kristin Miller

No choice but to kill…

Tortured by demonic voices, Dante’s soul is as black as they come. But when he meets Ariana—an innocent seductress who’s fighting demons of her own—Dante second guesses everything he’s ever known about sacrifice, passion and soul-scorching love.

He can’t love her and protect her…

Before Dante wages war against Crimson Bay’s greatest threat, he must make a choice: love Ariana the way she deserves, risking her life in the process—or fight to protect her, unleashing the monster he’s determined to bury.

Hello Kristin!  It is so nice to meet you.  Thank you for being here with me today!
Hi! Thanks so much for having me!

First, for readers new to your series, Vampires of Crimson Bay, can you give a quick rundown and the role of Last Vamp Standing in the series?
The series started with InterVamption and a blood war between vampires and shape-shifters (therians) in Crimson Bay. But as villains rose up, hell bent on exterminating vamps in the area, the vampires who remained were forced to stand together to fight back. Vamped Up (the second book in the series) details the journey of two ill-fated lovers to finding love while an evil hybrid mastermind tries to kill them to gain supernatural powers. In Last Vamp Standing, the conflict comes to a head as the vampires make their final stand.

Are there any hints you can give us about what might be coming up in the series?
As of right now, there are no books scheduled in the Vampires of Crimson Bay series after Last Vamp Standing. I’ve tossed around ideas that could spin-off of other characters, but as of this moment, nothing is set in stone.

You write in several different genres including Paranormal Romance, Romantic Suspense and Erotic Paranormal Romance.  Do you have a favorite?
I think paranormal romance (whether erotic or straight) is my favorite. I love paranormal for the freedom in the world building. I love taking something mundane and making it extraordinary. I love looking at things in new ways, with new twists. I love erotic paranormal romance because I get to focus more heavily on the characters than in the plot-heavy paranormals I usually write.

Kristin, What about reading?  What is your favorite genre to read?
Paranormal—darker the better. Over the last year I’ve also taken a liking to Urban Fantasy.

If you could pick one cast of characters from one series or book to come to life, who would it be and why?
Dante. Hands down. He captured me the instant he arrived on the page. He’s a wounded hero, but strong enough to take care of the heroine. He’s witty and snarky, but not to the point of being an ass. He’s smoking hot, but doesn’t notice that he is. Does it get any better than that?

If you were not an author, is there another dream job you would like to have?
I was an English teacher before I tried my hand at writing and publishing. I’d go back to that. There are days I miss the classroom, students, lesson planning, and structuring essays. (Yeah, crazy, I know.) If I wasn’t a writer, there’s nowhere I’d rather be than the classroom.

Do you have any new projects coming up that you can share with us?
I’m currently writing two erotic paranormal romance novellas to continue my Isle of Feralon series with Harlequin Cravings. The novellas take place on an enchanted isle where dragons rule the skies, werewolves rule the land, and merfolk rule the sea. They’ll release sometime next year. I’m also working on a three book paranormal romance/urban fantasy series.

Social media is everywhere nowadays.  Do you have a favorite social media outlet?

One of my favorite questions – who would you cast if Last Vamp Standing were made into a movie?
Ariana—She’s sweet and demure, yet has an undeniable sense of strength about her. When it’s time to kick ass, she steps up alongside her vampire elder brothers and sisters. I’m thinking Scarlett Johansson or Kate Beckinsale.
Dante—He’s tortured hero to the max, dark hair and smoldering eyes. I’m thinking Hayden Christensen.

I think that’s about it for today!  Thank you again for coming by!
Thanks! Until next time. J

About Kristin Miller....
Kristin Miller has had a passion for language and literature her whole life. Born and raised in Small Town USA, she often made up stories about faraway places and edge-of-your-seat adventures.
After graduating from Humboldt State University with a degree in psychology, Kristin realized there is no scarier place than the warped human psyche. Wanting to combine her love of writing with her desire to paint twisted villains, Kristin wound up in the unlikeliest of places—the classroom. She taught high school and middle school English before giving in to the desire to create her own world, where villains can be sympathetic and heroes can be devilishly good.

She is represented by Nalini Akolekar of Spencerhill Associates Ltd. and writes dark paranormal romances and toe curling romantic suspense.
