“After battling through hell, I brought my esclave back from the brink of ruin. I sacrificed everything—my heart, my mind, my very desires to bring her back to life. And for a while, I thought it broke me, that I’d never be the same. But slowly the beast is growing bolder, and it’s finally time to show Tess how beautiful the dark can be.”
Q gave everything to bring Tess back. In return, he expects nothing less. Tess may have leashed and tamed him, but he’s still a monster inside.
After surviving the darkness, a new dawn has begun. Twisted Together wades through black to grey, chasing the light of true love to banish the shadows forever.
Pain is a requirement, connection a necessity. But ultimately Q and Tess must face their demons, before they can embrace their future.
Ok - So I've finished this series. What an awesome and amazing trip! If you haven't read it, stop reading my review now - because there might be spoilers for the previous two books (but not for Twisted Together!)
In Quintessentially Q, the kidnappers came back and took Tess. Q crossed the earth and moved heaven and hell to get her back, and did so in the most brutal and romantic bloodbath you'd ever hope to see. But afterwards, Tess shut down mentally. Of course, Q found a way to bring her back. When we get into Twisted Together, we realize things aren't just quite perfect yet. There is some healing to go through.
And if there is one thing you can say about Q, it's that he sure is imaginative and inventive when it comes to solutions! You can tell he is a man changed, a man who is helplessly and hopelessly forever devoted to the woman he has sworn his heart and soul to. Is that why we all love him? That mixed with his dangerous edge... which is really more lethal than dangerous, right? He is in a constant state of grief, guilt, sadness, lust and love. It's a wonder he isn't spinning out of control. But he doesn't give up, and for that, I love him.
As for Tess, she knows things aren't right with her yet. She's improving, but just not as fast as either of them would like. She no longer desires pain. This is a pretty significant change to their relationship, since pain and pleasure are such fundamental elements in it. I don't know how I feel about Tess. I understand and empathize with her situation, but having not been in it myself (and therefore, can't really make an educated opinion) I just want her to get better already! Q is there, he's being so patient and loving - jump on that man and show him how much he means to you already!! But by the end of this book, Tess grows and changes so much. She's no longer the innocent and naive girl who was stolen from the streets in Mexico, but now a strong and fierce woman who knows who she is and what she wants. She turns into someone to definitely be admired.
Danger is always around. And danger isn't done having it's way with this couple yet. Love is a battlefield, and it's not just a song. Tess and Q have had to battle the entire time they've known each other. They're not battling each other, but every other thing outside of their relationship. And unfortunately, that's not done. Twisted Together brings about some catastrophic events. Things happen in this book that had me sure the ending was going to be something I definitely did NOT want.
Something awesome about all three of these books - so much happens in them. Event after event, these things happen, milestones happen - and yet, nothing feels rushed. I don't feel over or underwhelmed. Everything flows so perfectly, I completely enjoyed the entire trip of these two. In fact, I wish there were more books just because this couple is so charismatic together.
And I just have to say - I absolutely LOVE Franco in this book. If you remember, he is Q's bodyguard. Well, in this book he lightens up a bit when he has the opportunity. He is quite the smart ass!! He certainly brought some laughs to situations that were extremely tense. I loved how buddy-buddy he was with Q, and how much it upset Q. I'm hoping and crossing my fingers to see more of Franco in other books from Pepper Winters.
If you want a series that is very dark and dramatic, lustful and romantic, scary and beautiful... among a million other emotions, you definitely need to check out Monsters In The Dark. Pepper Winters authors them so beautifully, you feel like you are right there. Granted, considering this deals with sexual slavery, being right there might not be the best thing! LOL. But seriously, she writes it all so well, I felt like I was there for every whip, every hit, every kiss, and every gasp and every orgasm. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, and can't recommend them enough.
Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero the better and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.
She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby (who speaks French—hot!) who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.
