Meet Prime Deception's Heroine, by Carys Jones

Prime Deception
Carys Jones

When Lorna Thomas is found dead in her car everyone believes she killed herself. But the day after her death Lorna was set to sell a scandalous story to one of Britain’s biggest tabloid papers. For six months she had been the Deputy Prime Minister’s mistress.

Will Lorna’s secret die with her? While her family try to move on and come to terms with her death one person refuses to believe that Lorna killed herself. Her twin sister, Laurie is convinced that Lorna was murdered and she’ll stop at nothing to prove it, even if that means teaming up the very man her sister had been having an affair with…

Meet Prime Deception’s Heroine
by Carys Jones

Laurie Thomas is the heroine of Prime Deception. When we meet her she’s mistaken for her deceased twin, Lorna, something that happens to her a lot.

Everyone around her believes that her twin, Lorna, killed herself. But Laurie knows better. Being a twin, she shared a connection to her sister that no one could understand. Surely, if her sister wanted to end her own life she’d have known about it? Wouldn’t she?

Laurie is driven by her undying loyalty to her twin to the capital city of England; London, where she infiltrates the higher echelons of the government to uncover the truth about Lorna’s death.

What I love about Laurie as a character is how fiercely driven she is to find what she believes to be the truth. She refuses to let her own grief stop her mission. She’s strong when she faces Lorna’s past adversaries and I admire her for never giving up. Back home, her family have become estranged from her since she reminds them of her dead sister so she’s all alone. The one person in the world she felt truly connected to is gone.

I’d compare Laurie to Lightning from the Final Fantasy series. Like the iconic character in the game she is determined to find justice over her sister’s death and it is this determination which makes her fiercely loyal and unwavering from her path.

I hope that when people read Prime Deception they rally to Laurie’s cause and join her in wanting to find out what really happened to Lorna…
