Quote-tastic!! Tears Of The Broken

So Anna has created a new meme, I'm hoping it will be a weekly thing.  I know Anna loves quotes, she always picks such wonderful ones for her posts.  But here is something you might not know about me - I LOVE QUOTES TOO!!!
Seriously folks, I can't get enough of em :)

So click on the button above to go to this week's page over at Anna's (Herding Cats & Burning Soup) and let's make this a success together.  Do you have any favorite quotes?  I'd love to hear them, or I'd love to visit your page after you join in the fun!  Leave me a comment and I will visit you back and check out your quotes!

So my quote this week is from Tears Of The Broken, by AM Hudson.  Something about this series.... I can't even tell you.  It speaks to me, and I just adore it to pieces.  The quote I am sharing today actually just spoke to the romantic inside me that when I saw it, I copied it and sent it to a friend, exclaiming that it was exactly what my dreams would be.  This book is full of terrific passages, but this one melted my heart!

“Do you have any idea what you did to me today?” David edged a little closer. My head moved in a silent no, while my eyes dodged his. “Ara, when you looked at me that way—with those stunning, soulful, blue eyes of yours—you tunnelled right into me. You reached a part of me that has never been touched. Ever. I almost fell into a thousand pieces on the floor. I—”He looked away as my eyes met his. “I knew, from that moment on, you were mine.”

I know its not a long quote, but the beauty of the statement, the whole scene just moved me.  I hope you enjoyed it! I read this book over a year ago, so unfortunately I don't have the whole scene saved - but hey, that just means you can go read it!

Here is my full review of Tears Of The Broken and the second book after that, Knight Of The Rose

Review: The Knight Of The Rose by AM Hudson

Title: The Knight Of The Rose
Author: AM Hudson
Format: Ebook, personal purchase
Published: March 2012

Love was only the beginning of her nightmares.

When Ara discovered the existence of vampires, she was given the choice between a life as one of them, or a life without her true love.

But fate has a funny way of making choices for you.

After breaking the heart of the boy she loves with a truth he cannot bear, Ara will find herself in the arms of a predator who will steal her innocence and force the hand of fate.

Will David Knight become her rescuer once again, or will he be too late?

Oh my goodness, what can I say about this book?  In the first book we met Ara and David, and they fell in love.  But like the blurb says, “fate has a funny way of making choices for you”.  In Knight Of The Rose the pair have a short time together, because David must leave.  Ara doesn’t want to give up her chances of having a family of her own – or seeing her deceased mother and brother in the afterlife, so she refuses to become a vampire with him.  But he can not stay.  And worse, now Mike is coming to visit from Australia.  If you’ve read book one, you’ll remember Mike is her best friend.  But possibly now a best friend turns into more?
He told me once, so long ago, that the touch of human skin to a vampire is like a thousand kisses of ecstasy; like satiating an eternal hunger with the warmth of one

This book… it had me in tears.  I was bawling like a baby.  There were several times I had to put it down, I couldn’t take the emotions it was giving me.  There were other times I literally stayed up so late that I got about two hours of sleep before work.  I am in love with these characters and this world that AM Hudson has created.  I want to crawl inside her head and live there, forever in peace with all of these people she has given us.  Well, except they aren’t in peace, not always.  Where is the fun in that??

I gushed over book one, and book two is no exception.  I have book 3, but I am trying to wait because it is just such an emotional read I felt a bit… dry afterwards.  You know what I mean?  Like when you’ve just used up everything you have on this journey – but in the best possible way.

David leaves in this book.  He has to.  He has no choice.  And I was so mad at him!!  How could he do that?  There is always a loophole, isn’t there?  And then Mike is there, and he is getting all too comfy, and I’m sure he is a good guy – but let me get this straight – I don’t like him.  I want him away from Ara.  Ara is this strong and gentle character, and she seems to have a hard time making her mind up.

I’m not going to go over the plot a million times in this book.  Firstly cause its second in the series and is not a standalone work, but secondly, because I want you to read it.  There is some very real danger in this book, something that happens that will just change everything.  And it also brings up more mystery.  This story is eerie, beautiful, romantic, heartbreaking and just perfect.  Read it.  Now.

I knew a love more perfect and more devastating than any other feeling I’ve ever had in my life, and I owe that to this man, who has very unfortunate timing. Our eyes met in a standstill of anguish and indecision. Neither of us could find the words to make everything okay—it would never be okay.

Bewitching Blog Tour: Tears of the Broken - AM Hudson

Tears of the Broken
Book 1 in the Dark Secrets Series
by A.M. Hudson

Lies are the shadows of betrayal...the vampire will be the light.

When you love someone, there's nothing you wouldn't forgive.

But what about murder?

Ara-Rose will learn that life is fashioned from one tragedy after the next, and that sometimes, the truth people hide from you is nothing you could have imagined.

But Ara has secrets of her own, and she's willing to take them to her grave--a place David Knight will fight to keep her from.

 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I really loved this book for a couple of reasons.  First – it had some really beautiful writing.  In fact, I even highlighted one passage and sent it to a friend exclaiming how that is what the perfect guy should say.  And second, it actually made me cry!

You start off with a brief introduction to Ara in a short prologue.  As soon as I read the prologue, I was excited.  Amara-Rose was born lifeless, and brought to life when her father took her in his arms.  The imagery was sad, beautiful, and happy all at once.  It definitely had me eager to see what was in store.

Jump forward to present day.  Amara-Rose is now going to go by the name Ara, and she is starting a new school after moving in with her father.   Her family is a step-family now, yet they all seem to be close and get along well.

Her “welcome wagon” type tour buddy (who turns into a friend), Emily, informs her excitedly that she has the one and only David Knight in her first class.  And as soon as Ara lays eyes on David, well, her heart was lost.  Can’t say I blame the girl!  David is young, beautiful, and kind.  And there is so much more than what meets the eye.

Suelment quand je parle avec mon coeur”

And that’s just the first line that swept me off my feet.  And unless you speak French, you will have to Google it just as I did.

And that is what made me email my friend.  I mean seriously, how dreamily perfect is it to have the guy of your dreams say something entirely so romantic?  It’s lines like this throughout the book that got me every time.  David speaks with way too much maturity to be a teenager.  He dodges questions, and isn’t always upfront.  But he is still this wonderful man whom you can’t wait to learn more about.  Your pulse quickens when he is around.  He is….*sigh*  dreamy!

Now, that’s not to say this book is all sunshine and roses.  Secrets come out, people are hurt, hearts are shattered.  The drama is heightened  by Ara’s …well, dramatic flair.  She is every bit the teenage girl.  But she is still a very likeable character, and much stronger than she seems at times.  And even still, stronger than she gives herself credit for.  Horribly tragic things have happened to her, and yet she still found a thread to hold on to, to survive.

There are some some scenes I could have personally done without where the storyline seemed to stumble a bit.  But none of this really detracted from the main story.  It was a quite enjoyable read that I started on Saturday and finished on Sunday.  Then I immediately went online to see if the sequel was out yet – it’s not.  That you will have to wait for - but only until April!! And believe me, you are going to move it to the top of your TBR.  I would give this book a definitely 5 star rating with a few revisions, but that is all purely things of my own taste.  I think that A.M. Hudson is definitely an author to keep on your radar.
