Even though she's a nurse at a sperm bank, meeting young, virile professionals every day, Natalie Watson's relationships always seem to suffer from "stress fractures." With a hopeless prognosis, she seeks metaphysical help. The tea leaf reader tells her there's a perfect man for her, but she might have to change her definition of "perfect."
Shane (Crusher) Derby, owner of Derby Demolition, takes out his aggressions all day long by blowing up buildings and smashing the contents. He couldn't be mellower until the nurse in the adjacent building tells him to keep it down. He's making her donors jump and miss their cups. And he has the nerve to think it's funny.
Natalie works in a sperm bank, and she finds men to date from
the clientele. Her dates are most
usually jerks – and that’s if they show up.
She seems a bit shy, but I don’t really believe that’s the true part of
her. She just has rotten luck with men,
she keeps shooting blanks… ahem.
Shane Derby, or as his nickname is, Crusher, blows up buildings for a living. He’s not a psycho ladies, he’s a
demolitionist! And just as luck would
have it, on one fine day he blows up the building next to the sperm bank. Suffice it to say, Natalie is less than
enthused considering she had no notice.
I’ve never read a book involving a sperm bank, and it
definitely lent itself to more jokes and one liners than a smart ass like
myself could dare to hope for! Leave it
to Ashlyn to hit the nail on the head and make you laugh as you fall in love.
“Natalie could see his muscled thighs tighten beneath his jeans as he stepped over the wreckage. They could have been acid washed or they could have just been covered with ash, but they fit like a glove. A tool belt hung from his lean hips and swung in a sensuous slow dance as he walked.”
Oh yeah, that’s Shane.
He is so manly, I just want to stand outside the worksite and whistle
catcalls to him all day. And he wastes
no time at all in making the moves on Natalie.
I tell ya, his aggressive manner was A+ in my book. But then he proves there is much more to him
than meets the eye – and luckily Natalie let her guard down to see it.
Their first date turns into a memorable one. I love the way that Natalie is fighting with
her insecurity and a need to be bold as she gives into desire. Shane is… well, Crusher is a good nickname for this gorgeous man-beast!
This story was a lot of fun!
The intimate scenes were super steamy and sensuous. I could read the whole thing over and over
again. My only dislike is that sometimes
I felt Natalie was a bit of a brick wall, but that’s just the way she is. And hopefully she will realize there is
always room for change.
