Well, I've finished the series. I'm a bit sad to see the end of Finn and Nurrin in The Ruin Of The World, but it has definitely been an enjoyable trip. Nazarea Andrews has definitely written a fine series with a dystopian flare that really worked well.
If you've followed this series, you know that Nurrin got herself into a bit of trouble at the end of book three. Now they are still dealing with the aftermath of that, which basically puts them at the beck and call of Omar, the Black Priest. Omar has been quite interesting character. Part friend, part foe, and a big part off-his-rocker-lunatic... But now that he has so much control and is pulling the strings, I'm not happy. What does make me happy is when Finn and Nurrin are on top of their game, working like a well oiled machine, kicking ass and taking names.
There has been sexual tension and huge attraction between Nurrin and Finn this whole series. They've never been completely honest with each other about how they feel, and it's been building. But when Finn constantly reminds Nurrin about "What's the only thing that matters?" and Nurrin knows it's her... well, it sets my zombie-loving heart on fire. I love these two together, and I love that they've made it to the end together. Whether it stays like that to the end of the book, well.... ehhhh. You'll have to see.
There were some parts of this last installment that I didn't feel were as cohesive as they could be. I did find myself re-reading passages a few times because it felt like there were time and location jumps. A few things could have gone into more detail, for my own personal tastes. It felt like there were a few things that were left out that could have made the book a five star read for me. But as it is, it's the conclusion of Finn and Nurrin's story, and I loved it regardless of those minor things. If you like post apocalyptic and dystopian books - and of course zombies - I say give this series a chance. It has a lot of elements that you just won't find in other books, and it's an enjoyable read from beginning to end.
