He’s the love of her life, but he doesn’t know it.
She’s his one moment of sacrifice in a lifetime of survival.
He was damaged and wild, but resilient.
She’s always been obedient. Now she’s restless.
Home for the summer between college and med school, Pearl Torres Frank knows two things: Boyce Wynn is the embodiment of everything she should run from, and everything she wants to run to. Rebellious and loud. Unconcerned with society’s opinion of him. Passionate. Strong. Dangerous.
And one more trait he hides from everyone but her:
Sweet.
Sweet by Tammara Webber was fantastic, it really met the bar that the previous two books in the series set. Sweet is the story of Boyce, who you might remember from Breakable as Lucas' friend from back home. Boyce is absolutely wonderful!!
Boyce is a former bad boy turned good. He also grew up abandoned by his mother and very abused by his father. Well, now his father is dead and Boyce is free. But things are looking good because his father left behind the business, Wynn's Garage. Despite his upbringing, Boyce has turned into a caring and considerate man. A man who never got over his first love.
And that first love is Pearl. They met when she was five and he was seven, and Boyce actually saved her from drowning. From that moment on the two of them had a hidden infatuation for each other, always looking out for each other and always thinking of each other.
Pearl is very sweet and gentle herself. She's got a logical mind, and approaches most things in life objectively. But now she's left her boyfriend and decided to not go into medicine, she wants to be a marine biologist. This causes some discord in her family, and they've put her out on the street. Lucky for her, Boyce now has a spare room.
These two together are just like the titles says, Sweet. I love how they interact together, and are always thinking of each other. They are fated to be together, and there is no doubt about that. They do have a few hurdles to pass, but it's nothing huge. The thing that I noticed is different about Sweet compared to other New Adult romances is that there is not some huge traumatic separation here. Boyce and Pearl don't have a break up where they run themselves into the ground without the other. Basically their relationship is on a ride that just goes up. But you know what, I liked it. It made the read light and happy, and it was perfect
reading for my weekend.
If you've been reading the Contours of The Heart series, I don't think you will disappointed at all with Boyce's story. And hey - Lucas even makes his appearance, which I loved. *sigh* Still love that guy. Boyce definitely gives him a run for his money too.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of EASY and BREAKABLE (Contours of the Heart series - NA), as well BETWEEN THE LINES, WHERE YOU ARE, GOOD FOR YOU and HERE WITHOUT YOU (Between the Lines series - YA/NA).
I'm a hopeful romantic who adores novels with happy endings, because there are enough sad endings in real life. Before writing full-time, I was an undergraduate academic advisor, economics tutor, planetarium office manager, radiology call center rep, and the palest person to ever work at a tanning salon. I married my high school sweetheart, and I'm Mom to three adult kids and four very immature cats.
