No More Mr. Nice Guy…
The moment AJ Walsh sees the sexy, tattooed pixie walk up to his bar, it's lust at first sight. He's always been labeled the "nice" guy―opening doors, buying flowers, and never, ever having one-night stands. But with this wicked little angel with red lips and unfathomably dark eyes? Oh, yeah. Tonight, "nice" has nothing to do with it...
Brett Conlon is trying to convince her family that she's put away her reckless wild girl side for good. Nothing―and no one―could be better for her reputation than golden boy AJ Walsh. So they make a deal: if he plays The Good Boyfriend for her family, he can be a very, very bad boy with her. Now their one naughty night is about to turn into a whole lot of trouble...
So here I am. My final post for this series. I'm kind of sad to see it go!! But AJ and Brett were great, so I'm glad it ended on a good note. I know I said Gage was my favorite - and he is. But AJ is definitely the most interesting.
AJ is the final member of the trio that owns the nightclub, Sin. He's the "responsible" one. The "Nice" one. The "good" one. Except that AJ is basically living a very much watered down version of himself. I picture him stuck in a glass block, able to see everything he wants, but unable to break out of his prison. I can definitely connect with him as a character. He tries so hard to please everyone, that he's forgetting the one person he should be making happy - himself. In this book, it's not the woman who breaks out and grows, but the man. And AJ definitely shows us what he is really like.
Brett is the woman he desires. It's similar to Gage and Sky, where he sees her at Sin, across the bar. She's looking unhappy and he is just drawn to her. Brett is quite the woman. She's a tiny little thing, but her personality is huge. Tattooed and saying what's on her mind, she wastes no time putting AJ in his spot when he thinks he can put his lines on her. However, Brett has her own issues to deal with. There's a bad breakup in her past, and she is trying to live up to the expectations of her family in order to make her dreams come true.
So in a way, they are very similar characters... one wants to be better, and one is tired of pretending to be better. Together, they are intoxicating. With each other, they are free to be themselves. Watching everything unfold is quite a treat. I really loved watching AJ be himself, and cursing him when old habits die hard. There were a few times I wanted to tell Brett to lighten up and see where it goes, but in the end, they are both smart enough to handle their lives.
I can't tell you how much I loved this series. The guys are all dirty talking, sexy, strong, Alpha men. There's a bit of danger here and there, and the sex is out of this world hot. The woman are strong, stronger than they are given credit for. All in all, I can't find a single thing wrong with any of the books. If you are looking for a great read, pick up any of these books. Technically, they all stand alone. But read them in order, and you will definitely catch a growth arc of all the characters, and feel like you truly got the best experience from it. Elle Kennedy has definitely earned a true fan in me.
