As a personal general rule, I stay away from Christmas books. I'm not even sure I have an exact reason, I just don't like to really get inundated with that seasonal...mush. However, this is Skye. If anyone could make me like a Christmas romance, it's her. So did I?
Well hell yeah! In West's defense, this book wasn't over the top holiday. There weren't jingle bells and Santa Claus hanging around every corner.
What there was was exciting and hot. A young woman. She's a con. She's a stripper-turned-burlesque dancer. She's a thief and a criminal. And her family is in trouble and needs her. Bianca has a good head on her shoulders, she just has rotten luck, it seems. She's been dealt a hard hand, and she's living in the world she's created for herself.
Enter sexual tension. Well, hello West. I remember yoooooou. Oh yeah, if you've kept up with this series, you met West when he stayed with Blue and Lola. Ahem. Well, he has his own place, and his own lusts now. And they're for Bee. Except, as it goes with the Grand men, lust isn't always pure lust. There's always emotion following it up, and West is no exception.
I loved this quickie read. It didn't go quite as dark as a lot of Skye Warren's stuff, but it did have some dark edges. But the long and short of it is that once I picked it up, I didn't put it back down. This couple is hot, and I loved their contrast - and I'm not just talking skin. This has a very naughty/nice, good/bad feeling to it, and there is definitely a lot of grey area there.
This is a terrific series. You definitely need to pick it up.
