Series: Loving On The Edge #8

Released: July 7, 2015 - Berkley
Format: EGalley
Pages: 448 Pages
Oakley Easton wants two things: to be a good mom to her daughter and to ditch her less than ideal night job. Hooking up with bad boy drummer Pike Ryland? Not on the agenda. She needs a promotion. Not sex, tattoos and rock ’n’ roll.
Pike isn’t about to let Ms. Prim and Proper shut him down so easily, especially when he stumbles upon Oakley’s sexy night job. She’s only playing a role on those late night calls with strangers, but when he gets her on the line, all bets are off. He won’t stop until that sultry voice is calling his name for real.
But as they move from anonymous fantasies in the dark to the flesh-on-hot-flesh reality of the bedroom, the risk of falling in love becomes all too high. And the safe, quiet world that Oakley’s worked so hard to create is about to be exposed to the one person who could ruin it all.
I'd read another book in this series, and it wasn't really for me. But then my friend Christy from Christy's Love of Books insisted that I read Call On Me. I was hesitant, I won't lie. I kept putting it off and putting it off. Big mistake. This book was beyond awesome, and I loved every minute!
Pike... sigh. Pike. Pike. mmmmm. Pike.
Ok, first let's start with Oakley. I loved Oakley every single fucking minute of this book. First of all, she's a single mom to a little girl - something I was instantly able to connect with. The father isn't in the picture, and some days are just a struggle. But even the worst of the worst days are better because her (sometimes show stealing) daughter, Rae, is just the best thing ever in her life. Sacrifice and love go hand in hand. But when it's for your child, sacrifice feels more like a privilege than anything else. And this is the way Oakley is. She's a great mom willing to do anything for her baby. But you know, sometimes moms need love and attention too. And in walks Mr. Tattoo Badass. Pike.
Pike is a drum in an up and coming band. He's known groupies and living life in the fast lane. Children and love are not things he sees happening in his future. But then he meets Oakley and all bets are off. He is just as transfixed as she is. He's a dirty talking sexy bad-boy on the outside, great-guy on the inside. Sex and tattoos and a heart of gold, just how I like my men.
Pike and Oakley try to stay apart, but a charity project puts them in close quarters. Little by little they extend the boundaries of their relationship, all the while wanting more and more. I loved it. You get to see them grow together. You get to see them get hot together. And by hot, I mean a volcano would be jealous of their fire. There is a lot of flirting and fun, and even some covert action. They are inventive with their sexual escapes, and they even push their boundaries. All things I love to see in a sexy romance like this.
I know there are a lot of books in this series. I've only read two. One was great, and one kind of hit me as "meh". But I never felt like I was lost in the story, like I was missing out because I hadn't read the previous books. So if you haven't, I still think you could jump right in where ever you wanted. And if you are like me, you will love this book.
Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has.
Though she’ll forever be a New Orleans girl at heart, she now lives in Dallas with her husband and son. If she’s not working on her latest sexy story, you can find her reading, watching reality television, or indulging in her unhealthy addiction to rockstarsconcerts.
She is the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the The Loving on the Edge series and other sexy things.
