SWIPE LEFT.

That's all I did. A few too many glasses of wine with my best friend and the bitch convinced me to go on one of those dating websites.

A one-night stand.

A booty call.

And you know what? It.was.amazing.

I spent all night in a sexy stranger's arms, hot and sweaty, until it was time to sneak out and do the walk of shame back to my apartment.

I never thought I'd see sexy stranger again, and I was totally fine with that - until my mother's wedding.

She's getting remarried, see. And sexy stranger just happens to be my new stepbrother.

All the wine in the world isn't going to make this better.

Last week I got to read Step Fuck by Scarlett Ward.  It was a bit different from the usual step-romances I read because these step-siblings were adults living on their own, rather than college age adults, or new adults that grew up together.  In either case, calling it a step-romance would be a loose term, in my opinion.

The story itself wasn't bad.  Emma is trying to get over a break up, so her best friend sets her up with an online dating profile.  Right away she meets Jai.  Now, what happened next kind of bothered me.  Emma and Jai agree to meet... in his hotel room.  Yes, Megan goes up with her, and the meeting ends up getting moved to the hotel bar.  But where was the caution?  As someone who does online dating, I can't express how
freaking dangerous it would be to meet someone in their hotel room!!  Yes, they are meeting for a hookup, not a relationship - but still, hello safety??  So that kind of irked me, and it stayed with me.

Then they realize that their parents are getting married, and theres a misinterpretation on Emma's part, and then the two families go to spend two weeks together before the wedding.  Ok, one - maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't be able to take off 2 whole weeks for family bonding time, let alone all these other people too.

Emma is an interesting character.  She stands up for herself, which I like.  But the complete disregard for her safety was a big no-no in my book.  Jai was cocky  and sexy, but likeable enough. The sex was good, and even had some elements of getting caught here and there, which can be exciting.

Sigh.  I don't know.  Overall I enjoyed the story as a light read.  I think if you are new to the step-romances, this might be a good jumping off point since it's not really as taboo as some of the others I've read.  The high point in this story (for me!) is Megan, Emma's bestie, who is funny and outgoing and just seems like a lot of fun.  But like I said, the book was good (I did read all parts, not just part 1), just not what I expected.  With
the very blunt title, I kind of expected something a bit edgier.

Scarlett Ward is a yoga-loving, coffee-drinking writer who finally took the plunge and wrote her first book. Her own stepbrother wasn't remotely good-looking, but the one she dreamed up for Step F*@k is absolutely DIVINE.

Scarlett hates long walks on the beach. That shit is hard. She prefers laying out by the pool with her laptop, writing her next story while working on her tan.
