Author: Pepper Winters
Format: Personal Purchase

A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and nonconsensual sex. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.
“My life was complete. Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.
Then it all changed.
I was sold.”
Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility.
For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.
But lusty paradise is shattered.
Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.
Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.
Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?
Wow. Sometimes a book comes out, and there is so much hype, you wonder if it will really be that good. That's how it was for me with Tears of Tess. I'd heard countless rave reviews. I was super excited to read it, but afraid it would hit the mark, like so many other books have done. So what was the result?
Mind.Blown.
This book really does live up to the hype!! If you like dark erotica, I think you would love this. I know I did. It begins with Tess, who lives a pretty sheltered "happy" life. She's got a great boyfriend, and things in general are pretty good. I mean, sure, the sex-life with Brax leaves a bit to be desired, but why give up everything else for one aspect? In the begining of Tears of Tess, Brax and Tess are going on vacation in Mexico. A scooter trip and a stop at a tiny restaurant prove to change *everything* about Tess's whole existence. She's taken. Just like the blurb says, she's drugged and kidnapped, and sold into the world of sexual slavery - highest bidder wins.
The whole experience of being kidnapped was laid out so very well, or at least, I imagine it's so. It felt cold, dark, and dreary. Fear was around every corner. Other women broke as soon as they realized their lives were stolen, but not Tess. Something about these criminals making this choice for her sparked a fire. You want to lead a battle cry with her! But you know, no matter how hard you fight your captors, sometimes there is just no good result. Not everyone can get away and lead a happy life, unchanged by the black market. And Tess is sold.
Q is the man who buys her. By all counts, he seems like he is going to be the domineering master, forcing her to be his slave. You learn bits and pieces about this enigma of a man throughout the story. You question yourself... Is he as bad as he seems? I mean, he just bought Tess, afterall. Is there another story? Then you think, well, it doesn't matter if he is a good guy or a bad guy, I want him. Then you question your own sanity at that decision. This is why I love these dark books, they make you question things. Would a pretty face and a fat cock make the horror of being stolen and kidnapped better? Would tenderness and mercy change things for me? I think if Pepper Winters were writing my future, and I had to be kidnapped, I'd hope it would be because I was sold to Q! The man is extraordinary ways - ways I can't go into, to save the surprises for you. But trust me, he's made of all things awesome.
He ripped my blindfold off, kissing me, holding my hair so I couldn't move away as he fucked my mouth with a tongue that wouldn't let me breathe.
I gasped and choked, but the moment he left, I wanted more. I wanted to die with him kissing me.
As for sex in this book. It's hot. I won't get into all of that, because you know it's there. It's amazing. But let me tell you - there is this one scene... this one scene that will take everything you know and wrap it in an orgasm and totally leave you feeling completely sated. It was sexy, dark, romantic and dirty. It was animalistic and so damn perfect, I could keep reading it over and over. Heck, Pepper Winters could do that - just make two hundred pages of this scene, over and over, and I'd buy it. It was THAT good.
But that's not the whole story, ya know? Does Tess get free? Does she even want to? Is she a "victim" or Stockholm Syndrome (because really, if you fall for your captor, are you really still a victim? - touchy subject!) Is there real love in this book? It's positively amazing on the twists and turns it goes through, and at the end I totally wanted to give a hearty rebel yell and give Tess a high five. Now I need to go catch up on the rest of this series, because it's definitely at the top of my favorites list!
Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex. She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends. Her debut book Tears of Tess is followed by Quintessentially Q and Twisted Together. You didn’t think Q could stop so soon, did you? Her other two titles, Last Shadow and Broken Chance will be coming soon.
