Review & Giveaway: Seth by Eve Langlais

Title: Seth
Series: Cyborgs: More Than Machines (#5)
Author: Eve Langlais
Published: February 28, 2014
Format: Ebook received for review

His mission: Blend in with the humans. Save the cyborgs. And seduce the only woman he ever loved, without getting killed.

Cybernetic spy models are different from other humans turned machine. For one thing, they never completely lost touch with their humanity, or their memories. But retaining their identity doesn’t mean the military didn’t mess with their lives. Seth lost the woman he loved because of their web of lies. When the chance arises to make things right, he relies on his superior intellect—and irresistible charm—to prove his innocence, and make Anastasia his again.

Anastasia might possess upgraded parts and programming, but the scientists never could cure her of her biggest weakness, jealousy. The volatile emotion made her walk away from love once. Can she overcome it and recognize the truth? Or will she continue to let the military manipulate her emotional strings?

Five books into the Cyborgs: More Than Machines series, Seth delivers on excitement, romance, mystery, sexual heat and snark.  Yep, Eve Langlais has done it again!

I can't tell you how much I adore this series.  I did end up skipping books three and four, but I didn't feel lost at all as I went through Seth's book. So if you had to pick up a book out of order in this series, you would be ok.  There is enough that is explained to keep you current, without feeling like you don't know what is going on.  With that said, I can't wait to go back and read B785 and Aramus!

But as for Seth, he's the smart mouthed cyborg, the spy who has been able to retain a lot of his humanity in order to pull off a believable cover as a human when he was working for the military.  It was really a treat getting to know him a bit more, to discover he is just not the playboy we've met in passing before.  As it turns out, Seth has quite a bit of depth and a tragic history of his own, much like the other cyborgs.  The ownership of his tragedy definitely belongs to the military and the company who not only created the cyborgs, but manipulated their very being for their own profit.  Seth is a strong man, with or without the nanos.  But as a cyborg he is nearly indestructible, right? All he needs is the love of a good woman.

And that would be the cue for Anastasia to enter.  She's every bit as strong and determined as Seth.  But to be honest, it took me a little longer to warm up to her.  In the beginning I felt she was a bit distant and even a bit cold.  However, as the book goes on, you learn more about her, and see that inside there is the true heart of a woman in love.  Seth and Anastasia trained as humans together, and became cyborgs at the same time.  They fell in love, and had that love ripped apart by the evil of man.

Not wanting her to live with the guilt, he did the easy thing, and yet the hardest.  He left.

But it didn't mean he stopped loving.  He couldn't help but dream and remember the girl with the bright eyes and spitfire attitude who'd climbed the wall.  The woman he'd set off on an adventure with. The woman who'd stolen his heart, owned his soul, and without whom life lost meaning and color.

A woman the galaxy had in its inexplicable actions brought back to him.  For a second chance.

As the story goes on, you learn more about how Seth and Anastasia's relationship came to an end through flashback chapters.  I think this really helped because it showed their shared history, and you didn't need to rely so much on the current events to make them fall in love all over again.  In fact, it just took a few sparks to start this fire.  Between Seth's wisecracking Alpha male mentality, and Anastasia's need to feel she has to prove herself, there is plenty of room for fun in this book.  Eve Langlais does a superb job of blending everything together in one quick and sexy book.

Bathing his cock with her tongue, she explored the length of him, from the mushroom cap down the edged rib and then back up again.  She swirled her tongue.  He cried out.  She took him into her mouth and sucked, hard enough to hollow her cheeks, hard enough that he bucked again, hard enough that he pulsed and almost came in her mouth.

If you are looking for sexual chemistry and tension between your heroes, you definitely won't be disappointed here.  Seth and Anastasia belong together like magnets, and it doesn't take much for their bodies - and soon both of their hearts and minds, to follow suit.  The heart wants what it wants.  However, your hatred for the military and the company who tore their lives apart does grow.  You feel for these cyborgs, and those emotional attachments reach far beyond the bedroom walls.

So yes, I definitely recommend Seth to you.  Whether you are an old fan of Eve Langlais' or about to be a new fan, I don't think you could go wrong with this book.  If you are a fan of a bit of sci-fi in your romance, then yes - absolutely get on board with the Cyborgs: More Than Machines series.  It's done to perfection, keeping it fresh and enticing, while not overloading you with things you don't want to read about.

Hello, my name is Eve. I’m a stay at home mom who writes full time in between juggling my three kids, hubby, and housework, I write really raunchy stuff–usually with werewolves lol.  I am a bestselling Amazon author, ranking often in their top 100 romance authors. But I’m not just popular with Kindle readers. I was one of the top ten selling authors on AllRomance for 2013 and have had numerous of my books hit the top 100 books over all on Barnes & Nobles as well. I’m writing romance, my way. I do have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. I like strong alpha males, naked chests and werewolves. Lots of werewolves. In fact, you’ll notice most of my multi partner stories revolve around great, big, overprotective Lycans who just want to please their woman. I am also extremely partial to aliens, you know the kind who abduct their woman and then drive them insane…with pleasure of course. I love to write, and while I don’t always know what my mind is going to come up with next, I can promise it will be fun, probably humorous and most of all romantic, because I love a happily ever after.
