All The Rage by Courtney Summers (Review)

Title: All The Rage
Series: Standalone
Author: Courtney Summers
Published: April 14, 2015 St Martins Griffin
Format: EGalley
Pages: 321 per Goodreads

The sheriff’s son, Kellan Turner, is not the golden boy everyone thinks he is, and Romy Grey knows that for a fact. Because no one wants to believe a girl from the wrong side of town, the truth about him has cost her everything—friends, family, and her community. Branded a liar and bullied relentlessly by a group of kids she used to hang out with, Romy’s only refuge is the diner where she works outside of town. No one knows her name or her past there; she can finally be anonymous. But when a girl with ties to both Romy and Kellan goes missing after a party, and news of him assaulting another girl in a town close by gets out, Romy must decide whether she wants to fight or carry the burden of knowing more girls could get hurt if she doesn’t speak up. Nobody believed her the first time—and they certainly won’t now — but the cost of her silence might be more than she can bear.

With a shocking conclusion and writing that will absolutely knock you out, All the Rage examines the shame and silence inflicted upon young women after an act of sexual violence, forcing us to ask ourselves: In a culture that refuses to protect its young girls, how can they survive?

This is a hard book to read.  This book feels more real than many of the books I've ever read.  This book is scarier than most of the books I've read.  This book is really... great.

At The Stars by Elisabeth Staab (Cover Reveal, Excerpt, Giveaway)

A GIRL TRYING TO LEAVE HER PAST BEHIND
I was a normal teenager who loved music and dancing, until the day I was attacked in my favorite record store. A few years later when my mom succumbed to depression and took her own life, I couldn’t stay in my hometown with all the memories and the curious stares. I decided to get in my car and just go – except my car decided it was done going outside a tiny place called Evergreen Grove. That’s where I found Jake. Or I guess Jake found me.

A GUY WHO CAN’T LET HIS GO
For the last eight years, all I can think about is the day I ended another man’s life. Then I manage to save Cassie’s, and I feel like maybe I’ve got some kind of second chance. To do what I couldn’t before, or maybe even for something bigger. Something like love. If only I could feel like I deserve her...

Thanks for stopping by today!  I have this awesome cover reveal for you from the terrific Elisabeth Staab - and a giveaway!  Personally, I can not wait to read this book!  What do you think?  Is it going on your TBR?

Awakening by Shannon Duffy (Review)

Title: Awakening
Series: Standalone
Author: Shannon Duffy
Published: April 7, 2015 Entangled Teen
Format: E-arc
Pages: 352 per Goodreads

Desiree Six (because she was born on a Friday) believes in everything the Protectorate stands for. She likes the safety and security of having her entire life planned out—her career, her mate, even the date of her death. She doesn't even think to question when Darian, her childhood friend and neighbor, is convicted of murdering his parents. They had seemed like such a loving family. But if he was convicted, then he must have done it.

Then Darian shows up in her room late one night. He has escaped from the Terrorscape—a nightmare machine used to punish all Noncompliants—and needs Desiree's help. What he tells her rocks her world to its core and makes her doubt everything she's ever been told. With this new information, will Desiree and Darian be able to escape the Protectorate before it's too late?

This is my first read by author Shannon Duffy, and I have to say - I am impressed.  I absolutely love unique reads like this.  If you into post apocalyptic and tech, then I think you will love this.  Now this book is more on the YA side, but a mature YA.

Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde (Review)

Title: Silver Bastard
Series: Silver Valley #1
Author: Joanna Wylde
Published: April 7, 2015 - Berkley
Format: Galley & ARC
Pages: 448 Pages/Goodreads

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward—full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That’s when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he’d violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She’s been terrified of him ever since, but she’s even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from... But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She’s living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can't ignore. She has to go back, and there’s only one man she can trust to go with her—the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it’ll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants...

Ahhhhh.... PUCK!!!!  If you are a fan of the Reapers MC books like I am, you know who Puck is, and you've been anxiously awaiting his arrival in Silver Bastard.  Joanna Wylde, I love you.  I love this world you've brought to us, and I love how you can make a book that is relatively long fly by in the span of a moment.  Puck and Becca were beautiful to watch, and I can't recommend this book enough.

Against Me
Freya Barker

Patience has always been Caleb Whitetail's strength. Quiet and unassuming is what you see with the GFI investigator, but the blood boils hot right under the surface. He kept his distance for years only to see the woman who has held his attention almost lose her life not just once, but twice. He is done standing in the shadows.

Katie Acker, once a tough and athletic security specialist now struggles daily to walk. The closest to family she has are her colleagues at GFI. Especially the man who saved her life and always has her back. So when she unwittingly becomes the focus of a Mexican cartel, it’s no big surprise she finds him right by her side.

With the combustive change in their deepening bond, Katie and Caleb do not see the oncoming danger - until it surrounds them.

Now this book sounds really good!!  I've not read this author before, but based on this little bit, I am so ready to.  So I will definitely be picking this book up!  How about you?

Nina Hardwick has had a rough life since leaving high school, but inside she is still the girl looking for a silver lining. The past several years have left their toll on her psyche, and just as she feels like she’s climbing out of a deep abyss, her life and the lives of millions of others fall into shambles as a virus overtakes the country and leaves a plague of undead armies scouring the land.

In a desperate attempt to get away from the infected, Nina and some neighbors speed out of town, nearly killing a man on a motorcycle. When they stop to rescue him, Nina realizes that he is the one man from her past she never got over, the guy who should have been her high school sweetheart until she messed it up. But this unrequited love, Kevin Savage, says he doesn’t even remember her. Or does he?

Nina, Kevin, and her neighbors head to the wilderness and fight to survive not only the plague but also hunger, cold, their inner demons…and even each other. Will they survive and, more importantly, will her heart?

Hmmmm.   Savage by Jade C Jamison was an interesting read.  The first I've read by this author, and I can say I enjoyed it, but it definitely wasn't what I expected.
