Playlist for Walk On The Striped Side by Jessie Lane (and a HUGE GIVEAWAY!)

Walk On The Striped Side
Jessie Lane

Does he have his claws in her for good? Or is she just yanking his tail?

Elena Demos’s life has been turned upside down. Her mother has passed away, leaving Elena and her two half-sisters to deal with their mother’s will and the crazy stipulations it contains. For the three sisters to inherit the substantial amount of money left behind, they have to go to work with two aunts they’ve never met, in the family business they’ve known nothing about, Amazons Inc. If that isn’t bad enough, she runs into the man who once broke her heart, and it’s only their first day on the job.

Gage Ivanov is a stupid beast. He let the woman who should be his mate go because she couldn't be told of his Other identity. Now, Elena’s back, but she refuses to give in to his demands for her to be his mate. The timing for all of this couldn’t be worse, either, because Gage and his circle of friends are trying to subdue a rogue pack of wolf shifters in Germany who threaten to out the Others to the world of humans. Will he be able to juggle the oncoming conflict and win back his mate?

Claws, love bites and handcuffs - OH MY!

The “Published” Playlist for Walk On The Striped Side
By Jessie Lane
This is the playlist that you can find in the back of Walk On The Striped Side. It isn’t filled with sappy love songs, because Gage and Elena aren’t sappy love song kind of people. In fact, the first couple of songs on the playlist really showcase the pain Elena is feeling after Gage breaks her heart at the beginning of the story. And that spoiler right there… that’s all you’re getting from me peeps.

Review: Big Bad Bite by Jessie Lane

Title: Big Bad Bite
Series: Big Bad Bite #1
Author: Jessie Lane
Published: January 2013, Jessie Lane
Format: Ebook received for review

What would it be like to live in a world where you are considered abnormal to those who are above the norm?

Jenna O’ Conner has been taught her whole life to hide from everyone. Never to let anyone to close enough to know that she would prefer a shotgun for her birthday over of a bouquet of roses. She’s been smothered by her over protective family so that no one learns what she truly is. Which is not human. Nor, is she considered the norm for the supernatural Other community that is benevolent enough to share this world with the humans.

In a desperate attempt to live her own life away from the small town she was raised in, Jenna obtains her dream job as the newest member on the Wilmington Police Department’s SWAT Team. What she didn’t predict was that she would run into trouble her first day on the job, in the form of a deadly, mouthwatering man named Adam McPhee. Who is also not human, but more like a wolf walking around in human skin. He’s determined to figure out exactly what Jenna is, which unbeknownst to him, could very well put her life in danger. He’s also determined to have her all to himself.

As if that wasn’t enough for Jenna to deal with, bad news blows into town. A group of extremist Shifters who think humans are cattle and factions of Others worldwide should stay within their own species - never to intermingle. Chaos ensues. Jenna has to find a way to shut them down, but in the process of trying to do that, discovers things about herself that even she never thought was possible.

Who said the wolf was what you had to worry about?
Welcome to the real world

I make no secret of the fact that I love Jessie Lane. Big Bad Bite is a good example why. This is a book about a wolf-demon hybrid woman; she is badass in every sense of the word. She’s paranormal, she’s not some whiney “oh save me you big strong man” type of girl, and she’s on SWAT. Yeah, I have a girl-crush on Jenna.

Does he have his claws in her for good? Or is she just yanking his tail?

Elena Demos’ life has been turned upside down. Her mother passed away, leaving Elena and her two half-sisters to deal with their mother’s will and the crazy stipulations in it. For the three sisters to inherit the substantial amount of money left behind they have to go work with two Aunts they’ve never met, in the family business they knew nothing about. Amazons Inc.. If that wasn’t bad enough, she runs into the man who broke her heart their first day on the job.

Gage Ivanov is a stupid beast. He let the woman who should be his mate go because she couldn't be told of his Other identity. Now Elena’s back, but she refuses to give into his demands for her to be his mate. The timing for all of this couldn’t be worse. Gage and his circle of friends are trying to subdue a rogue pack of wolf shifters in Germany who threaten to out the Others to the world of humans. Will he be able to juggle the oncoming conflict and win back his mate?

Claws have never been this sexy.

Never mind how good she looked, or that she smelled like sex on a stick, he was going to bend this arrogant young woman over his lap and paddle her ass for talking to a higher ranking soldier like that. For talking to him like that. His tiger was going nuts underneath his skin. The need to exert his dominance over her, to show her just who the fuck was in charge here, was riding him hard.Harder than ever before. Which bothered him. Combine that with the insane urge to show her who the bigger predator was caused a niggling suspicion that there was more going on here than good old fashioned annoyance or the need to lose himself in a warm willing body.

Sucking on his teeth in extreme agitation he opted for denial. There was absolutely no way that this woman could be a possible mate. Surely fate wouldn’t be so cruel as to try and pair him off with a fragile human that could be easily killed. He wasn’t entirely sure, but the signs of compatibility were there. The natural pheromones to attract one mate to the other. His Tiger going wild inside of him.

He was going to choose to think that those pesky coincidences didn’t mean shit.Even better, he was going to ignore those signals in the name of self-preservation. He’d never wanted a human for a mate in the past, and that wasn’t changing over an intoxicating scent, a pair of unusually pretty eyes, and the need to fuck a better attitude into her. Nope, he’d rather be mate-less. Or settle for a mate that both his human and beast’s side didn’t crave with a dangerous intensity. He would rather find a mate they could grow to care for, and who would be something much sturdier than a very breakable human.

Since he wasn’t paying attention to her at the moment, he only distantly heard her say, “Helllllloo… Master Sergeant Ivanov? Are you sure you want to stick to that story about getting some sleep? Because you don’t seem to be all there upstairs to me.” Delicate fingers snapped in front of his face a couple of times, bringing his attention back to the object of his thoughts. As he looked at her impatient face he made a silent vow to himself. Mate possibility or no, if the disagreeable woman didn’t stop antagonizing him, he was going to break every unspoken rule in the supernatural Othercommunity and unleash his claws on her backside. As his eyes zeroed in onto the unconscious nervous movement of the tip of her pink tongue swiping over her bottom lip, Gage thought. Claws and a good pop on the ass ought to scare some respect into her.

Jessie Lane is the writing team of Crystal Leo and Melissa Pahl. The two sisters-in-law share a passionate love of naughty romance, cliff hanging suspense, and out-of-this-world characters that demand your attention, or threaten to slap you around until you do pay attention to them. Because really, it is ALL about the characters. (They’re kind of megalomaniacs – but don’t tell them that we said that.)

Crystal lives in Kentucky with her husband, little 7 and 9 year old Rock Chicks in the making, and her Dad who likes to play the air guitar while listening to George Thorogood’s Bad To The Bone. Melissa just moved to Minnesota with her husband and giant furry Rottweiler baby named Yuffi. Crystal is now trying to talk Melissa into “polar bear” swimming in Lake Superior, but so far Melissa is adamantly telling her no.

Their first YA novel, The Burning Star, was released in May 2012. Big Bad Bite was their second novel, but their first adult paranormal romance, and released in January 2013. Their third book, Secret Maneuvers, just releaseed this past June, and will be the start of a new adult contemporary romance series (Ex Ops Series). They are now working on their next three novels, Walk On The Striped Side (Big Bad Bite Series #2), Stripping Her Defenses (Ex Ops Series #2) and The Frozen Star (YA Star Series #2).With these projects underway, they are looking forward to showing the rest of the world their crazy stories, heroes and heroines that often plague their minds until written, and hope you will join them on their journey!

Yeah!!  How does that sound?  Oh, I am so definitely on board with this book - I can't wait til it comes out.  But when, you ask? This winter!!  So get ready, mark your calendars!

Welcome to the real world.
Straight up, from the authors:

“We're excited to announce that Big Bad Bite had a makeover! Inside and out! We have a sexy new cover featuring our favorite Wolf, Adam, AND Big Bad Bite was sent off and edited by the amazing girls at C&D Editing.

Some might wonder, "Has the story changed?"

The answer to that would be yes and no. No, because the story line is still the same. Yes, because it no longer has those pesky grammatical errors, info dumps were cut down, inconsistencies were caught, and best of all, a tiny scene was added! Overall, it's a better story, but still has a kick ass, snarky heroine Jenna, and the snarly, but lovable, Adam who wants her.

So, if you haven't picked up your copy of Big Bad Bite yet, then go get it today!”

The house seemed so much bigger to her before she parked two shifters and a demon in the living room. Now, with the three large-bodied men huddled in the room, she feels damn near claustrophobic. Her uncle and brother are smashed next to each other on her small, dove grey loveseat, while Kent occupies her only other sitting option in the room, a vibrant purple, suede, tufted armchair. The look of barely suppressed disgust on his face at having to sit in what he has announced is “a girly monstrosity that no man should ever have to suffer, in the house of his newest partner, who he expected to have better taste, no less.” At least that’s the reason he will give his therapist for the nightmares he’s sure to endure.
Jenna just thinks the whole damn thing is hysterical. In the chair that her mama gifted her, sits a five-foot eleven-inch, two hundred pound, leanly muscled, smooth talking, lady killer with an easy confidence that lands him firmly in the egotistical category, but at the moment, a lady killer that would probably rather abstain from sex for an entire month than sit in Jenna’s girly chair. She can tell that the only thing that equals Kent’s repulsion for her chair is his surprise that she would even own it.
Sure, she likes being a cop and generally does mental happy dances whenever she’s able to outperform her testosterone-laden coworkers who presume she is going to be more of a hindrance than a help because of her carrying reproductive organs. She also likes to play with guns and can shoot almost any gun she can get her hands on at an expert level when most women would rather get a pedicure than pick up a handgun. However, all of that doesn’t mean that she can’t enjoy some of the feminine ideals of life. Such as pretty furniture that’s also super comfortable. You’ll never catch her with anything pink in her house, but that purple chair with its lush, velvet fabric is her favorite piece of furniture to curl up in after a long day at work. The fact that it makes her partner uncomfortable to sit in, as if the level of girliness would rub off on him, is a bonus. He’s acting like it is only a matter of time before someone will walk into the living room and demand his man card back.

I am all over this new cover!  I can't wait to read it.  What do you think??  Is Big Bad Bite on your TBR?

Guest Post on the Insanity of Co-Authoring

So what’s it like to write a book with a co-author? Well that’s a very good question. Like everything else in life, this experience, or partnership, has its ups and downs. Luckily it has way more ups than downs though. The following conversation is one example of the many ups Melissa and I have working with each other as we write as ‘Jessie Lane’. We were on chat, and I asked for her help to name a character. The following insanity is the result of that request. Before you read this, in Melissa’s defense, she was half-asleep and medicated for a migraine.

Melissa says: Defend away. But hey, It got the job done…LOL.
(Conversation on Facebook chat)
Crystal - Right now I’m trying to come up with the bad betas name for the Corvus pack. Although Marcus Valerius Corvus was a roman, I was thinking a German name because Corvus took over the area of Germany for his pack in the book.
 Melissa – Peaches.
 Crystal - Bad Mel! Bahahahhaha!
 Melissa - Love Muffin.
Crystal - A bad dude name is not love muffin.
Melissa - Oh u mean like bad guys bad.
 Crystal - Yeah! lol
Melissa – lol. Your mom goes to college.
 Crystal – Goober.
 Melissa -Chester lol.
Crystal - That’s a dork name. Think bad and evil.
 Melissa – Yogi.
 Crystal - You're smokin’ crack aren't you?
Melissa - Migraine meds are NICE.
Crystal - LMAO! Hugh? Gunter? That's a German name.
Melissa - Hunter punter. Lol. Sorry I’ll be serious.
 Crystal - Silly woman!
 Melissa - Damain
Crystal - Not German. Goober. Hugo? Oh! Kaiser! Do you like Kaiser?
Melissa - Achmed, Kaiser Sosai! Love that movie. Wait, what we talking about again.....lmao
Crystal - A German name for the bad werewolf. Get it together woman!
Melissa - Marko
Crystal - Marko is not German woman! How much of those meds did you take?!
Melissa - Marko is on the name page I’m looking at.
Crystal - Your page lied! It’s not German and it's not on my page. Marko is like Italian or something.
Melissa - Malger, and it said "MARKO: Serbian and Slovene form of Greek Markos, meaning "defense" or "of the sea." Also in use by the Basques, Bulgarians, Dutch, Finnish, Germans, and Romani. Compare with another form of Marko." Radulf?
Crystal - Now read what you just sent me silly. It says right there that the Germans used it, but it is not of German origin. Like I said your page LIED to you, lmao!
 Melissa - shush
Crystal - rotflmfao! What about Guy? Guy Schwartz?
Melissa - lmao and u call me a goober?
Crystal - Why does that make me a goober?!?
Melissa - Spaceballs. Let the Schwartz be with you.
Crystal - Whoops. Forgot about that, lmao.

So now you’ve had a look into a day in the life of ‘Jessie Lane’. Melissa and I may want to occasionally strangle each other, but we spend way more time laughing at each other. Regardless of what that conversation shows, I want you to know that we work very hard, and have many serious moments while writing our books (Yeah right!). We hope you enjoyed this example at our supreme goofiness, and before I leave, I’d just like to clarify one thing before it comes back to bite me in the tushy. The only ‘Chester’ I know who’s not a dork is the Chester from Linkin Park. If anybody would like to prove me wrong on this issue, feel free to submit proof in pictures of hopefully hot, half naked men. Thanks guys!
